  1. I’m just gonna say it. I’ve been to every home game this year. Yes, I paid extra so I could attend NU vs the Queens college. I’m not some casual “I didn’t even watch the game but saw the score” fan. I’ve watched every single game this year, in its entirety. The Penn State home game and now this one sealed what I was already feeling. I no longer just think Fred will be back. I actually WANT him back. There has been undeniable progress inside the program and culture. Are we going to win out? No. Am I going to emotionally post if we lay a turd? Yes. But I freakin’ love this team. That is all.

  2. Creighton ... check. Iowa ... check. Wisconsin ... check. I'm good here.

  3. One more thing I realized. Love what Lawrence is doing overall, one of the more well rounded freshman I've seen. But one of the things that helped us a lot today is how he pushes the ball in transition. He gets the ball and GOES. I mean he just GOES. Got two buckets, one being an and one, off that today. As he continues to get stronger and more experienced, he'll be able to pick and choose when he uses that, but it's an asset to this team and program.

  4. Sometimes I feel like I say this too much but I don't think you can underestimate the impact that Bandoumel has had on this team - even post injury. He is a leader by example in more ways than one.

  5. As an aside I had the pleasure of spending some time with Emmanuel Bandoumel yesterday. A very impressive young man. And did you see Griesel fist bump Kent before tipoff? We have some really good kids on this team.

  6. I have to believe that Keita set 2 NCAA records if anyone was able to do the research. Most minutes (23) and most rebounds (11) by someone who did not play in the first half of a game. It has been so nice to have fun at PBA again this year. Even the loss to Purdue was a great fan experience. This is obviously not our most successful or most talented team - but they have been fun to watch this season.

  7. The great thing I noticed about Tominaga today....is the rest of the league has also fallen in love with his energy and game. There's a 100 of these tweets by opposing beat writers today.

  8. I'm running on gut feelings today. So far, so good. Mr. Tominaga will be back in Lincoln next year playing for the Huskers. He'll put up All-American numbers, yet only get Big Ten Honorable Mention. It won't matter. He will be a catalyst that takes this program where they've never been. He's the Shane Komine to Husker Basketball. Mark it down!

  9. Nice to see most Wisconsin fans hate their team almost as much as I hate their team.

  10. Only got to listen to last 12 minutes and OT. Kent is hopefully celebrating and not in an ER somewhere. His passion for this program is unmatched. Jake was also great with his comments. On a side note can the refs hear them because both KP and Jake were very forthcoming in some of the calls? And couldn't help but make a trip to Buckyville message board to see Wisky fans reactions. For a team that has gotten the benefit of more flop calls than anyone over the years they didn't seem to like the Huskers getting away with it. Didn't see any of the game so can't comment one way or the other. And they also didn't like all moving screens NU got away with. Would like to tell them it's karma for all the sh** Brad Davison got away with over his 16 year career as a badger.

  11. Agree wholeheartedly. Hoiberg has a heady group of assistants who have provided invaluable, high-level assistance. I'm glad Trev got Fred the help he needed. The gamble seems to be paying off, imho.

  12. An overlooked basket today was in OT, down 61-63, we needed a bucket bad. KT grabbed the board and took it up the court himself. Our. Guys fanned out, KT hesitated and blew but his guy and scored on a nice layup to tie it back up. Wisconsin didn’t score the rest of the game. He is crafty and so much more than just a 3pt shooter. And it was obvious Wiscy came out to try and physically bully him and beat him up. Didn’t work.

    Hoiberg Gets 11!

Don't be ridiculous. That's like saying we'll go on a 10-0 scoring streak in overtime.

  15. Wilhelm has shown me nothing that Blaise can’t arguably do better. And Blaise doesn’t try to do anything else he can’t do. Hope he’s healthy the rest of the way.

  17. I did not but I thoroughly enjoyed the 2nd half and overtime of undeniable progress.

  18. Our team hitting its final 6 FTs after only being 9-17 in regulation. Big-time clutch shooting from the line late.

    Hoiberg Gets 11!

I refuse to live in that world. 5 more wins puts us in a whole different category. Why can't we? It's all what you believe in. 3 home games, a Rutgers team Tuesday who just lost one of their front line players, and the Big Ten Tournament. I see good things for this team yet this year!

  22. I was afraid I wouldn't hate Wisconsin as much now that the nut puncher is gone, but I was relieved to find the hate is still strong. Feels great to beat them, especially like that.

    MICHIGAN GAME DAY THREAD

In total agreement with this take. I think that after every game I watch us play and observe the opponent's inside players.

  26. Final Stats: Good Game by the GRIT, No QUIT HuskerLadies against the #12-ranked team!

  27. Half time. Real good 2nd qtr. We started the game so slow...again. The shots started to drop. But not getting scoring from many players. Michigan's foul issues are making a difference. They've had to back off a little. Four of their starters have 2 fouls. That may end up being a factor in what happens in 2nd half. Most of their squad can score. We're certainly in it now.

  30. huskers will need to have a hot shooting day to pull off the upset. otherwise, i just hope they perform well and keep it respectable.

  31. Yeah, especially after he air balled his previous attempt! I could hear Rafferty yelling "ONIONS" after that shot!

  32. Seeing them celebrate together in the waning moments of the ballgame was a beautiful thing. You love to see it.
    3 points
  33. Well, in hindsight, that's what got Hoiberg to insert Keita into the ballgame. Blaise then balled out, and resurrected a moribund program in the process. Long live the King, Blaise Keita.

  34. Not really. He was really good last year and earned the opportunity to get an extended opportunity this year.

  35. It blows my mind that any kid could watch Wisconsin and decide that they want to go play for that program

  36. My voice is shot, I'm still juiced up nearly 2 hours later, but massive win. Beating Wisconsin in anything adds 2 years to my life. -I've been pretty critical of Blaise this season, he hasn't impressed me really at all. Today he put on a great second half performance. Wahl seems to be struggling with an injury, and Crowl/Gilmore are not very good. At all. Perfect matchup for him to get confidence and just snag boards, which he did. His offense is still a work in progress (might be being generous), but there's something to work with on defense. -Found it interesting that WIl started, but Dawson has been inconsistent at times. He's not aggressive off the bounce and that walk at the end of the half kind of shows where he's at mentally. You just need to pull that and put a shot at the rim. Wil hasn't been good either, don't get it twisted. But need a different approach at that spot. -CJ and Dawson caught pine in the second half for reasons I listed above honestly. Blaise and Walker combo was working, and Fred rode that. -Keisei again cannot be guarded despite Wisconsin basically face guarding him. He's on an unreal heater right now. Such a fun fun player that just brings so much energy to the team. Rutgers I am not optimistic in at all. They lost one of their glue guys in Mag, but they've been great. Next 3 after that however, I'd say are winnable. MSU will be the toughest, but it's senior night so who knows. Record is what it is right now, but being down 4 scholarship guys (i'm including lloyd in this as he had a good shot to play I think, even if not that's 3) and still picking up big ten wins. Love it.

  37. Add Texas and you have the four most hated teams on the planet. Now if Fred can just figure out how to play and beat Texas yet this season, I feel like he may just save his job.

  44. I agree. But as for last year with the couple of black holes we had he could have cut all game and that ball was never coming to him.

  45. We only had 4 that scored consistently. Issie, Sam, Jazz, and Alexis (18 pts 18 rebounds) very few from everyone else. Very few pts. driving to the basket. Don't seem to be deep enough with quick off the dribble guards.. Study the box score data. Interesting that Mich. subs played more minutes (than our subs) and scored at a good pace. Depth plain and simple. And just by observation, Mich usually only substituted one player at a time....keeps the team consistency in play when you aren't subbing 3 or 4 at a time. Anyway, we gutted it out and played pretty well after the slow start. (partly a result of MIch high pressure defense.) Disappointed we lost, but not so much considering we were in a hostile environment., and against the #12 team in USA.

  46. played pretty well but too many turnovers and not good enough defense, really need to win a game against a tournament team to get back on the right side of the bubble
