Ok. I can’t understate how much this game means to me. I live in Omaha and work with dozens of bluejay alums. I hear crap from them year round. They decorate my office with Bluejay stuff and troll me every chance they can get. All day I hear Kaluma’s a lottery pick, Nembhard is gonna drop 30 on you, got a text right before tipoff “42-7 at the first tv timeout” Back in 2014, I started a bet with the bluejay alums that the loser buys donuts. So, I did, every single year except 2018. I did not do the bet this year. Our company has grown so much this past year I’d be buying like 12 dozen donuts, and at close to 19$ a dozen, I didn’t really feel like it. Well, I’m buying red donuts tomorrow and bringing them in, courtesy of Fred Hoiberg and the guys who played their butts off. And I’m not taking the high road. I’ll be trolling them all week, no mercy. Bluejay fans are the most unlikeable fans I know.19 points -

Obviously Griesel and Walker were great. But Gary was a monster on those 9 boards. He kept an elite athlete off the glass because he was a better athlete. Probably time to start giving our defensive guru on staff some serious recognition here. That was about as high IQ as I have ever seen from a Nebraska defense. Creighton will always be skilled and finesse basketball. That’s why you beat them by punching them in the fing mouth. The weirdest part is that game didn’t look like a fluke to me. We were bigger, stronger, and smarter. Kind of like a B1G team is supposed to look.18 points -

On paper this should not have been possible. Omaha has been a house of horrors for us over the past 15+ years. This was supposed to be their best team in school history. This was supposed to be our worst team in school history. And yet… NEENER NEENER NEENER, SUCK IT CREIGHTON!!!15 points

You can win any basketball game you’re in if you follow the gameplan that most works against what the other team wants to do. Congrats to Fred for doing what needed to be done to win, not what you want to do. I don’t mean that to sound like such a back handed compliment, but honestly it’s the first time in 4 years he’s figured it out.13 points -

No disrespect whatsoever; but I do not understand the disdain for Wilhelm. The dude is a gamer who is only going to get better. As a whole, we are embracing the grinder attitude of this team. Briedenbach is the ultimate grinder. I guess I personally understand why the staff plays him and the team embraces him. But everyone has their right to an opinion.12 points -

OK, guys, y'all need to re-up your prescription for Lithium. Get rid of the high highs and the low lows. I mean, this was just one game. Let me repeat that: Just. One. Game. It's gonna be a slog of a season and every conference opponent is really good. Every single one. And we don't have any more talent on this roster than we did when we lost to Memphis. So, I mean, slow your roll just a little ... 9-4 over the last 13? No. I did not realize that. That's pretty impressive actually. Anyway, I don't want you guys to get too carried ... Three straight wins against ranked teams? Is that some kind of record? It is? Whoa. That's pretty wild. Still, I would just caution ... Fred has two of our five all-time wins against ranked teams on the road? What the actual fuck? Are you serious? Holy shit! I had no idea. Um, I mean, try to temper your expectations because ... Jesus Christ Northwestern beat Michigan State on the road last night?! Um don'tdoitNormkeepcalmdon'tfallforitthere'salotofseasonlefttoplayandwe'restillNebrasketball Can we at least keep the "bubble watch" discussion to a minimum until after we beat Iowa on December 29? The person I feel most sorry for is Baylor Scheierman. He could of went to NU and helped this team win their first NCAA tournament game. He would have been an Auroran hero right below Tom Kropp and just above Kevin Penner. Instead, he's on a team that will lose in the first round of the tournament. What could have been....9 points -
I think it may be some "addition by subtraction" but not from the coaching staff. When your most talented player who has to be on the floor plays with very little effort when the ball is not in his hands - particularly disdaining any semblance of defense - then I think that lack of effort can be contagious. I don't mean to be too hard on Bryce - but after attending the game today and watching it off my DVR right now I am struck by how this group - particularly Juwan Gary plays with very little flash but does the "effort" things like defense and rebounding very well. Bryce was really fun to watch when showing off his talent but absolutely maddening to watch at other times. Juwan Gary is not likely to ever be on an NBA floor - but he is fun to watch play all the time. Walker and Sam were obviously key today - but we don't win this game without the effort Gary put in either.8 points

The last time we beat Creighton in Omaha (2004). 1) Husker hoops central hadn’t launched yet 2)Muhleisen was a junior 3) Brian Conklin hit 55% of his 3 point attempts his senior season 4) The game was on KMTV channel 3 with Travis Justice on the play by play call. 5) Nebraska was in the Big 12 and Creighton the Missouri Valley conference 6) Randy Lee and Matt Davison called the game on the radio8 points -
Walker is severely underrated….even by our fan base. Walker is strong as an ox and extremely crafty. A savvy veteran that plays within himself. He would play meaningful for anyone in the country. He is one of my all time favorite players. I am thrilled he has a win of this magnitude under his belt. He deserves it.8 points

Just got back from that game. Wasn't going to go this year but had somebody offer me a ticket a couple days ago so went with very low expectations. This team is easy to like - they play hard D and unlike the teams we have had the last few years they actually go after rebounds and block out. It seemed like Creighton did not scout us at all (maybe they didn't because they are just coming off a really hard stretch in their schedule too). We have struggled with teams that pressure the ball - particularly full court. Creighton did not do that at all until it was too late. If teams put a small guard on Griesel and let him and Walker play a two man game we are going to give anyone trouble. Creighton lives and dies by the 3 pt shot - and today they DIED by it!!!! Go Big Reg !!7 points -

I got a kick out of Fred's response in his presser when he was asked if he was trying to take some time off the clock when he had to remove DW from the game. He sort of said that he was doing that much to his disdain. Then he said something about how he told Wilhelm earlier that he would hit a big 3 pointer at some point, and then he did and he as really proud of him. Fred sure seems much more at ease with this year's team. I guess that is what happens when players play for each other instead of themselves.6 points -

Want to point out one moment I noticed that makes me think this team is different and I won't get it exactly right bc I haven't rewatched. During our drought after going up 41-32 the pace had really sped up and either Bando or Gary got a defensive rebound. It would have been easy to push it back down the floor but he signaled to Sam to slow it down and then passed him the ball. Small thing but having Sam, Bando, Gary and Walker, all old guys who have played big games makes a huge difference in those danger times.5 points -
Watched the game replay. Viewing it after the fact .....we really had good control of the game most of the time. We never let up.....were competitive all the time. Impressive. Seemed to get more and more dominate. In about the middle of the 3rd qtr, you could see who was dictating the flow of the game. Observation: Maryland doesn't seem to play strong defense, at least yesterday anyway. Don't cover the perimeter. (So we had many open shots, and lanes open to the basket.) They play like they can beat you with their offense almost alone. (familiar?) When that couldn't happen consistently, they kind of lost focus. Lot of whining going on. They didn't look like some past Frese teams. For their size, don't rebound hard. Not an organized offense, kind of one on one.. BBall. They were hitting the panic button when we kept getting the lead. Not impressed with the All B1G Diamond Miller. She traveled most times she had the ball, ran over our defenders like a linebacker. Just an off day maybe.... she was not really a factor. Took us too lightly ? They'll have to regroup and play defense too, or it might be a long season for them. We made so many unreal shots, and hit the lanes to the basket. And made them. Also impressive. Everyone did their part, Jazz, Allison, Alexis....were great. But everyone contributed and made a difference. Great team win. Maddie belongs on the court. Too high a BBall IQ to gather splinters Enough diatribe's . Just super impressed yesterday5 points

We played as good of a defense as we possibly could in the first half. Creighton missed shots because we kept them out of their game. Great scouting and following of the game plan. So tough to control tempo against a team like Creighton and we did it for most of the game. Neither Wilcher or KT hit a three and we still won, by ten. Three wins in row against ranked teams on the road. That is mind blowing. Please keep Walker out of foul trouble, although that first one was pretty weak.5 points -

We did a lot of stuff right; but make no mistake, we didn't play our best game. Far from it. Individual players carried us offensively. A couple of our shooters were rather dreadful. Our defense was tough, it was gritty and we played the style of game necessary to win. I'm betting Creighton fans are melting down!5 points -
