Nicole Kubik was a nice guard for Nebraska from Cambridge. She had to finish her career under Paul Sanderford which turned out less than ideal. Britt Prince has a calm confidence that has to impact her teammates positively. She will be a very good point guard that can score for the Huskers.4 points

I have been watching WBB long enough to remember Ivy. She was REAL good - fast, smooth, had the moves, the shots, and the hops. Part of her success was her talent, determination, and enthusiasm. But she was the brightest star in the constellation in part because the others were, by today's standards, so dim. She did not play with and against anything like the competition that is out there today. Girls' and women's level of play has come a very long way since then. Now, as for Prince: I saw her again yesterday. She was not full court guarded by Beatrice nearly as effectively as she was by Scottsbluff the previous day and this gave her more opportunity to showcase her passing skills. And man-oh-man did she! Earlier in this discussion, someone, in comparing her to CC, said that she does not (yet at least) have the ability to make those CC bullet passes consistently hitting the bullseye, and that was consistent with what i had seen. But she launched some lasers yesterday - some too good for her teammates to handle. It will be fun to see her pass to a posted up Markowski and Petrie and to a streaking Potts with kick outs to Nissley. Also to see her benefit from strength, conditioning, and maturity. Remember - she is five years younger than Shelly et. al.4 points -
Beatrice has a freshman to keep an eye on 5'8 Alijah Stabler. She didn't have a great game today vs. Elkhorn North - mainly cause Elkhorn North was really keying on her. She did end up with 13, had 12, and hit the game-winning free throws in their Norris game. She averaged 17 a game this year. This was my first time seeing her in person, I'd seen her on tape a couple of times this year, really gets to the basket and finishes well - especially for a freshman. Prince is so much fun to watch. So calm, even when she forces things it's so smooth. When things were getting tight, she'd take a ball screen to the left, have 2 people on her and nail a free throw line jumper with hands in her face. She probably had a couple more turnovers in this game than she usually does, but I still think the thing that separates her from others is her passing ability.4 points

Prayers for a safe recovery/treatment and good health in the future!. Much more important than seeing the Huskers in person. Hopefully we can get to a point like the short run in the mid-90's when tournament births were the annual expectation not viewed as generational events :).4 points

Yvonne Turner and Dominique Kelley made a nice homegrown backcourt. They've done well with their basketball careers. If you include defense with offensive production, they were special.3 points

You're probably correct in your statements. I was a junior in high school when Ivy graduated. I was watching her in the class A semifinals and it was like watching a goddess among children. I still do not think Britt matches her for quickness and hops. That be said, I'm not really sure I've seen anyone play a smooth and relaxed as Britt in Nebraska.3 points

I watched her play against Bellevue West. She has good quickness and court savvy. I just don’t see how she can be a factor at the B1G level. I think she can be an energy player off the bench.3 points

I was impressed with the Gesserts (Norah and Neleigh) after watching them play for the first time today. They are legit 6'1" perimeter players with excellent range and ballhandling for their size. The broadcasters on NCN said that for college, they are a package deal and it will most likely come down to Nebraska vs. Creighton. I think they would be good additions to Nebraska's roster.3 points -

yeah, and take note of her quiet/calm focus/determination in the fourth quarter. Trailing by nine against a very active defense - not an ounce of panic or even worry was evident. Also, when she got robbed on her way to the basket after a steal (I think it was McCabe who fouled her three times on her drive up the lane) .... no CC style antics. No acting out. No looks of disbelief - just got up off the floor and went back to work.2 points

Winning tomorrow almost assures us a 4 seed pending some bigger upsets happening. Wisco still has Rutgers at home and @Purdue. Could see them losing both. MSU has Purdue and lose that today, we’re guaranteed a tie with them. They’d have NW and Indiana left. Iowa has NW and @Illinois— I don’t see them winning both.1 point

Ok, Wisconsin lost to Illinois so we’re back to a tie for 4th. Both Wisconsin and Michigan State still play Purdue so the Michigan game will have a lot on the line. We don’t care about standings for the tournament. But we do want a double bye to avoid a bad loss and to have a shorter run needed for conference. All these games are preparing Nebraska and other bubble teams for games with high stakes. What if Nebraska would make it to Saturday in Minneapolis and then get a win in the tournament! In marketing, there's a way to transform a one-off into a "ritual" (it's even often referred to by that name--"ritualization") where you can start doing what was done with wrestling, to name one example. The first Wrestlemania was supposed to be a one off. It turned into a multi-decadial cash cow by dding roman numerals to the end of it. You can do that here, too. No Sit Sunday I or II, etc. Think of al the t-shirts you could sell! At the very least, it's worth a good convo...1 point -

One of the signs of a great player is making hard plays look easy.1 point -
Defensively, we have found a scheme that play to our strengths and minimizes our weaknesses. It feels like our defense is set up to create the following sequence of events: 1. Opponent's guard is at top of key with ball. Wing is in or near the corner, with Husker defender shading away from him (similar to in a pack line scheme), which baits the guard into passing into the corner. 2. Husker defender closes out, but at an angle which intentionally gives away the baseline dribble drive (which is completely opposite of a traditional pack line scheme). Wing is baited into driving baseline. 3. Mast or Gary or Allick (whoever is currently guarding the low post) slides over into a position just outside of the restricted area. 4. The ballhandler is stuck making a split second decision at this point, and at a time where he is surrounded by the baseline, the trailing defender, and the low post help defender. There's no easy path to the basket. The skip pass to the opposite corner is restricted by the rim/backboard. It's an awkward angle to dish off into the near elbow. A pass into the low post has to go through Mast/Gary/Allick. The easy and obvious passing lane is to the opposite elbow, and we almost always have a guard crashing into that spot. The positive of running a defense set up to do this is that it doesn't require lateral quickness. It requires high basketball IQ/situational awareness among the wings and bigs, and we are loaded with upper classmen in those positions. It also requires multiple low post defensive options (which we have), so that teams can't simply pull your big out of the low post. The negative is that you're giving up a lot of open three point looks, similar to traditional pack line. You're also prone to post lobs if the opponent has a long lean freak of nature like Kel'el Ware. But overall I think this scheme fits our personnel very, very well. Offensively, we finally have the players to run a five out. Which again minimizes our weaknesses (lack of a JPJ/Petteway/McGowens type of scorer, as well as a traditional PG) and plays to our strengths (shooters, and creating space for Gary and Mast to go to work).1 point

Here’s mine: It’s going to be me and my wife. Twin 7 yr olds only if I find a cheap deal (like, Groupon tickets to Indianapolis $40 lol). Like Dave, I am pretty much committed to going no matter what. But I can’t buy tickets to all these places and then have to sell. And, the closer the better, but I’ll sit in the rafters if it means I get to see “it” finally happen. I’ll take any suggestions for this scenario as well.1 point
