  1. We will have to wait until the rest of the round of 32 is over to know for sure, but seeing Oregon State handle us and Colorado pull the mild upset at KState, it definitely seems like the Pac 12 (which also has Utah, Stanford, UCLA and USC still alive) was significantly better than the Big Ten. Even more so since Ohio State also went down today. SEC and Pac 12 have a different level of length and athleticism that seems to cancel out the good shooting and passing of the Big Ten (in general).
  2. Great season and great progress for this program. I’m really proud of them, even if we didn’t get to see our best offensive games this weekend. Jaz is a Husker legend and more than that, she is an amazing person and role model for future generations. She will be missed, but she laid a solid foundation to continue to build on.
  3. Fair enough. You all are probably right that we were executing more of a game plan on offense, whereas A&M were mostly just creating one-on-one. Saying “out coached” was harsh and/or wrong. My frustration with yesterday was mostly caused by: 1. Watching us have to hang on for dear life against the 8th best team in the SEC who was missing their 2nd or 3rd best player. 2. Not leaving the starters on the court when we were ahead by 17 in the third quarter. Why not run them off the court instead of letting them hang around and gain confidence? 3. Watching Jaz and Natalie both have terrible games after playing so well for the last month. (I know that’s not necessarily Amy’s fault and the opponent’s athleticism had a lot to do with it). In general, I’m very supportive of and believe in what AW is doing. I guess it was just disappointing to see that even a marginal, shorthanded SEC team still had enough athleticism to almost completely cancel out our team’s skill advantage. Imagine if we would have been playing Tennessee or Ole Miss last night, let alone LSU or South Carolina. That’s not a criticism of AW, but it just solidified how much more program-building needs to be done to close that gap or make up for that mismatch in styles.
  4. So is the Big Ten’s record 2-2 after day 1? - Wins: Ohio State, Nebraska - Losses: Maryland, Michigan State Playing today are Iowa, Indiana and Michigan?
  5. Agreed. I love Jaz and think she’s a Husker legend, but she didn’t look like she was mentally prepared for the game tonight. I hope Sunday we will get to see her back at her best
  6. Yeah, I think long, quick, disruptive teams on defense are the kryptonite for this team….tonight, Ohio State, Rutgers We potentially match up better against teams like Iowa and maybe Oregon State, even if they’re higher ranked than A&M
  7. I’m sorry, I want to be positive because we just won our first NCAA game in a decade. But that was the 9th place team from the SEC playing without their best interior player, and we were very fortunate to win. I really didn’t like the way we played today
  8. Yeah, that looked like a shell of the team from last week. Wth happened? Jaz and Natalie played awful, and I thought we got out coached
  9. This is what happens when you play not to lose, and don’t step on their necks when you’ve got the momentum. Now aTm is in rhythm and hitting everything
  10. The silver lining is that Alexis and Natalie should be fresh and be out of foul trouble for most of the second half
  11. The longer we go without Jaz hitting a three, the more nervous I get…I hope she can heat up soon
  12. So proud of the way Amy and the players performed the last 4 days...they were so close to finishing this one in regulation. But Clark is a once-in-a-lifetime talent and she and the supporting cast made some excellent plays to take it to overtime. I hope we can make a run in the NCAAs - I really like what the team showed this weekend and if they can replicate that, I think they're gonna be a favorite in the first round game and could scare a #1-3 seed in the second game. Peaking forward to next year: I sure wish we had another year of eligibility for Jaz, but I'm feeling more optimistic about next year (and the program) with every clutch play we see from players like Hake and Nissley. Potts and Markowski are phenomenal, and I can't wait to see how their games continue to grow. No one player will be able to replace Jaz, but the idea of Prince & Hake running the offense, dishing to Nissley outside and Potts/Markowski inside (plus hopefully continued improvement by Coley/Moriarty/Petrie and another freshman surprise in Amiah Hargrove) is looking promising.
  13. The last 2 games have reminded me of the really good Yori-era teams with Moore, Hooper, Cady, and co. I'm very impressed by the way the role players have stepped up and give Amy a lot of credit in developing that talent around Jaz and Alexis (and Potts). Nissley, Hake, Stewart, Coley, White, and Petrie all had big contributions today against a program that is very hard to beat in March.
  14. Who would have predicted Stewart with 9, Coley with 6 in the Big Ten semis? They stepped up huge with Markowski and Potts not having their best offensive games (and hampered by foul trouble). I'm so happy for Jaz that she gets to end her career making a run in March and showing the rest of the country what a dynamic player she is
