Again I leave this on the coaching. Team has been inconsistent all 8 years of Amy. We will never be in the upper half... go from a top 25 team to a top 300 team from game to game is crazy.... I know AM has been missing some bunnies of late but without her we would maybe have 5 wins so I will stick by her!! I am just going to keep sitting over here buying season tickets waiting for the day for a coaching change..6 points -

Losing to Rutgers really sucks, but isn't it great that we look back and think the bad loss of the season was an overtime loss on the road to a conference foe ranked in the top 100 rather than some mid-major 200 level Incarnate Word kind of squad?5 points -

100000% agree that Northwestern is bigger than Illinois today. A win over Illinois is a nice feather in our resume cap, but sweeping a season series over a fellow bubble team including taking a road game is priceless.3 points -

We're 6-5 in conference games right now. Our 4 remaining home games are against teams ALL in the bottom half of current league standings (2 of the bottom 3) and a COMBINED 15 conference wins among them. We SHOULD not and we CANNOT lose any of those games at home. And I've been saying for awhile now, I have our last game of the regular season at Chrysler Arena circled in RED. That would get us to 21 wins overall even if we lose the rest of the road games (not saying we will) and it virtually guarantees that we'll have a first-round bye in the conference tournament with a good chance to pick up another dub before Selection Sunday.3 points -

A question I have with all the below expectations on shooting and poorer play is, "What on earth does this team do in practice to run plays, shoot or improve????? I would expect that they do not play as erratic in practice, but who knows?? I would suggest that they practice more jump shoots about free throw high. They certainly do not do this in pregame as everyone is hucking up three pointers before the game and second half starts!!!!! Maybe more practice on layups as well!2 points

A Hallmark of Amy Williams' Teams has been "Grit; No Quit" for as long as she has been here. She has never had the most talented, or athletic, Teams, but what they have lacked they have made up in Determination. However, I think the Talent Level may be starting to change. I don't think there is much chance of a coaching change next year, or the next couple of years, with the incoming talent, including coach Amy's daughter. Amy has had some success tapping the portal before, bringing in Shelley, Bella, but unhappily a couple of duds too. But that doesn't mean that coaching Can't, or Shouldn't, step it up to take better advantage of the talent. Right now I think we are a middle of the pack Big Ten Team, capable of beating any other B1G team (well maybe not Iowa). But, unless we upgrade our talent level; and ability to 'Coach 'em Up, I'm afraid we may be relegated to the bottom third of the B1G in the future after additions from the old Pac-12 conference.2 points

NU got outside multiple days this week, which is great. Having the indoor facility is such an advantage, but there's nothing like getting outdoors several times before the 1st game. Even had a chance to scrimmage a bit at Den Hartog late in the week. Not sure we answered our starting pitching questions around consistency during the scrimmages, though. The first weekend in Arlington is going to be a crapshoot on the bump it would appear. This is kind of what I was afraid of coming out of fall. Everything on the pitching staff just sets up so much easier when you have one guy step up and take control of the Friday job. Sets the tone for everyone else. (Well, other than last year when Olson was the dude from the start, but we struggled with depth. Depth won't be an issue with this group I don't think, meaning short leashes are in order.) Figuring out who to use and when could be quite the challenge for Coach Childress that first weekend. Nice to have someone with his experience making the decisions, though. He's gone into a season -- or several of them -- in this kind of situation before, so I'm confident he'll figure it out. It just might not be with the players he thought it would be in October. PS - I'm not a 'fan day' person, but it looked like they had a blast last night with a good crowd.2 points

OWH says today the league is planning on a 30-game conference schedule with divisions - have to say I'm surprised. The only way to pull that off is to send traditional B1G teams to LA/Eugene/Seattle for late Febr and early March weekends. That means the Pac-4 have to spend a lot of time on the road on April and May weekends, just when you want to gain momentum. So with 30 games, you end up playing 10 of your 16 possible opponents versus 8 of 12 now. Divisions become a necessity to have the regular season be an actual test. You have to treat it like having 2 regular season champions. Then top 4 in each division go to Omaha. Will be curious how they split divisions. They might do east-west, but I think they have to split up the Pac-4 to make the schedule work better, so those Pac-4 teams can host conference games early in the year to beat the weather. Maybe they rotate Ore/Wash and USC/UCLA between the divisions every 2 years. West (ish) - Oregon, Wash, NU, Minn, Iowa, NW, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue East (ish) - USC, UCLA, Rutgers, Md, PSU, Ohio St, Mich, Mich St, So maybe NU's 2025 schedule looks like: Feb wk 3 - At UCLA* Feb wk 4 - At non-con series Mar wk 1 - At Oregon** Mar wk 2 - at non-con Mar wk 3 - home non-con Mar wk 4 - vs Minn** Mar wk 5 - at Illinois** Apr wk 1 - vs Wash** Apr wk 2 - vs Purdue** Apr wk 3 - Home non-con Apr wk 4 - at NW** May wk 1 - vs Iowa** May wk 2 - at Indiana** May wk 3 - vs Ohio St* May wk 4 - B1G tourney UCLA's might look like: Feb wk 3 - vs NU* Feb wk 4 - vs Rutg** Mar wk 1 - vs Mich St** Mar wk 2 - home non-con Mar wk 3 - vs Illinois* Mar wk 4 - home non-con Mar wk 5 - at Md** Apr wk 1 - at PSU** Apr wk 2 - home non-con Apr wk 3 - at Michigan** Apr wk 4 - Home non-con May wk 1 - at Washington* May wk 2 - at Ohio St** May wk 3 - vs USC** May wk 4 - B1G tourney Maybe they do something like saying even though NU is playing at UCLA in Feb wk 3, those count as NU 'home' games for conference scheduling to try to make the Pac-4 teams have to travel less later in the year. Then they can say they're giving everyone 5 'home' series and 5 road series, even though it'd actually be 4 and 6 for NU and 6 and 4 for UCLA. Then UCLA wouldn't have to travel as much late in the year - on this schedule, if they did that, maybe they'd get Penn St at home instead of on the road. And NU might end up going to Purdue instead of being at home. Will be interesting to see how they split it up. Going to take some next-level math to fit all the pieces together. They need to do it fairly quickly, as it's always tough to set up non-conference series. By the way, Oregon will be in Arlington for our opening weekend, although we don't play the Ducks. We'll have some common opponents, though.2 points -

Lol this site says we only have a 30ish percent chance to dance at 23 wins. That would be a 23-7, 13-7 record. That would mean at minimum 3 road wins if we won out at home. Wouldn't put much stock into this one. Here is a list of the best bracketology sites of the past 5 years. http://www.bracketmatrix.com/rankings.html1 point -

I would have felt bad for Rutgers if we had won, because they deserved it. We had every chance to win. I don’t understand why Shelly took a 3 when we were only down one. Especially with how poorly she was shooting today. Sometimes this team really has me scratching my head. I really hope White is ok. She’s playing good basketball right now.1 point -

I guess I assumed most bracketology goes on “as of today”. No way you can project out 68 teams remaining schedules but maybe Lunardi does. Even so, we have comparably easier schedules down the road I think. We also have the H2H over them. Our home games Rutgers, Minny, Michigan, and PSU are comparable if not easier than theirs (Nebraska, PSU, Michigan, Iowa, Minny Our roadies (Illinois, NW, Indiana, OSU, Michigan) compare well to theirs too (Minny, Rutgers, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan St I think the Nw game is arguably bigger than the Illinois game and if I had to pick winning one, I’d choose NW. We’re still in double bye territory as well as them AND sweeping the season series would do us a lot of good in March.1 point -

Yes and no. A win in the Tournament is a win. Remember, we could have been in the tourney years ago when it was less than 64 teams. But we were always on the outside looking in. The 77 team was really good. Won a first round NIT game. I think the 63-64 Huskers were outstanding. However, you can't go on huskers.com and find any records from the 60's teams. It goes from 1975 to 1905. That site pisses me off. Nebraska athletics brought in 200 million dollars last year. Their website sucks. Fix it. Anyway, when you look at recent history, the play in winners have a good record winning their next game.1 point -
A team that was similar to us this year was last years Maryland Terrapins. The Terps were 20-11 at the end of the regular season, 11-9 in conference, but 1-9 on the road and 10-0 at home. Maryland was not good on the road. In some of those road games the Terps got beat by 10+. Maryland also went on to beat WV in the tourney as an 8 seed. If the Huskers can get one road win, that should be good enough.1 point
