  3. I don’t know man. I just don’t know. I’m shaking and at a loss for words. Unbelievable effort and resolve. To me, this is one of the greatest wins in Nebrasketball history.

  5. I’m so happy how Wilcher has played this season. Nebraska has finally made him play his game and not having to dribble much. Have him do the Klay Thompson role and he’ll succeed.

  7. Right now, our huskers appear to be firmly inside the NCAA tournament bracket. Right now, our huskers have zero "bad losses." Sooo. Here is my simple minded and humble opinion. We are a pretty good team. We can be even better, and that is a good thing as we move towards the February grind. Hit your bunnies, limit the asinine passes and we will move to another level. Small adjustments rather than major overhaul is all that is necessary. Quite frankly, a lot of teams would love to be where we are right now.

  8. Anyone still wondering why it is so much easier for the Huskers to win at home than on the road just needed to be in PBA tonight. Place was electric and when we made that second half run the crowd just took over the game - shaking up a normally very disciplined Wisconsin team and giving the Huskers tons of energy.

  9. That late 3 was soooooooo clutch. Wilcher carried us all the way back. Mast and Brice took us home.

  11. 10 years ago we had not sit Sunday and my then 7 year old son got to see Mike Peltz propose and Petteway pulling up for that 3 - the sound of PBA - so memorable. Tonight was similar, at least the final 15 minutes of the game. Fred said it was the best atmosphere he’s seen at PBA in his five years, I’d agree. So many great little plays that added up. Jo and Sam bring heart. Energy. Attitude. Effort. Love it. KT will be back. Two or theee of his threes were halfway down…

  16. Brice played really well the 2nd half. He was in my doghouse in the 1st half. He was challenging shots. He was being aggressive going for rebounds. He took care of the ball. He brings that attitude the rest of the year, he will be so valuable.

  17. This is so improbable of a win. We looked absolutely dead in the water.

  20. I love it when the teams that almost always are on the beneficial end of the "Three Stooge Special" get a taste of their own medicine for once and then whine about it. Wisconsin rarely, if ever, gets anywhere near 7 fouls in first halves and quite often stays under 7 in second halves until late if the game is somewhat close. They almost always get the benefit of the doubt. Yeah, they play pretty good, fundamental defense, but it's just not realistic to think they only commit 4 or 5 fouls in a half on a regular basis.

  21. The committee has emphasized this year in and year out. Metrics and ratings are not gospel. There's a significant human factor that can be decisive during the selection process, especially for the teams on the margins. There will always be more teams in those margins then there will be spaces. If we find ourselves there this season, frankly, that alone is significant improvement for our program. We've been an afterthought more often than not for years. I think beingthe plucky underdog that *still* hasn't won a tourney game will play in our favor. We're a perpetual cinderella. And the tourney *loves* its cinderellas. We're sitting okay.

  22. Damn that’s impressive. He definitely has to be 6th man of the year in the Big Ten. I really appreciate his attitude and the way he has embraced his role on this team. We wouldn’t be talking about potentially making the NCAA tournament without him. He very well could be our MVP this year.

  25. I do think our doubling down low is part of our problem on the road. We do start some comebacks in even the bad games but then they get those 3’s when we double down low and you give far too many opportunities for the crowds to get back into it. Especially when you have a team that spaces you out.

    PURDUE GAME DAY THREAD

I have not posted for awhile partly because in retrospect in my mind I was getting too negative especially after a loss. Woopdeedoo has summed up my feelings very well with this post above. I think the team going forward may have found the missing 5th starter they so badly need. If K. Moriarity can keep her game at a some what consistent level we would have the player that gives us what we have been lacking at the 3 position. That being size and length, ability to drive to the hoop and good defense. I was at the game and really enjoyed watching the team rally several times getting to a 10 pt. 2nd qtr lead and then unfortunately giving up most of it due to the aforementioned questionable substitution with 3 minutes left before half. Same thing happened in the third quarter as well but the timeout coach took did stop the Purdue rally and started another rally for us. Going forward it would be nice to go 5-3 for seeding purposes but 4-4 is a necessity. P.S. I would give a lot for an upset of Iowa.

  34. Kesei has been pulling the string on his 3 point shots the last 6 games or so. He won’t be sure he elite shooter that he can be if he doesn’t fix his mechanics. I don’t recall exactly when it started but he hit the game winner 3 with poor follow through mechanics and it has continued the last 3 games. He had a couple of wide open ones tonight that he didn’t have to hurry to get off and had bad mechanics. Got to get it fixed

  35. Tonight’s 80-72 overtime win over Wisconsin marks the first time that Nebraska has knocked off two top-10 teams since the 2013-14 season. It is the sixth time in program history that NU posted two top-10 wins in the same season (2023-24, 2013-14, 1993-94, 1991-92, 1990-91 and 1957-58. Nebraska has defeated a pair of opponents ranked in the top six for the first time since 1957-58, when Fred Hoiberg’s grandfather, Jerry Bush, was the Husker head coach. Nebraska erased a 19-point deficit in the game to tie for its largest comeback of the Big Ten era. The Huskers also won after by trailing by 19 against Iowa on Feb. 23, 2013. Before tonight, the largest deficit NU overcame this season was 14 against North Dakota on Dec. 20. Nebraska’s last three wins over Wisconsin all featured double-digit comebacks (10, 2021-22; 17, 2022-23; 19, 2023-24). The win was Nebraska’s first overtime victory since a 70-66 home win against Maryland on Feb. 19, 2023. The last two Wisconsin-Nebraska games in Lincoln have gone to overtime. According to CBB Sports Reference, Wisconsin had been 120-0 since 2000 when leading by 15 or more points at halftime. The Badgers led the Huskers by 16 at the half tonight (43-27). C.J. Wilcher fueled the bench effort by tying his career high with 22 points off the bench, the third 20-point game of his career. Wilcher scored 16 points in the second half on 5-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-5 from the 3-point line. It was his third career 20-point game and first since his 22-point effort at Indiana on Dec. 4, 2022. Wilcher’s 22-point night was the most by a Husker bench player this season and marked the fifth time he has led NU in scoring this season. Wilcher now leads the Big Ten as the player with the most double-figure games off the bench, with 11. Nebraska’s defense forced Wisconsin into committing a season-high 16 turnovers. The Huskers scored 18 points off those turnovers. Nebraska posted a 34-10 advantage in bench points. The 34 bench points tied for Nebraska’s most in a Big Ten game this season (also at Iowa). The Huskers’ three bench players (C.J. Wilcher, Sam Hoiberg and Juwan Gary) combined to post a plus-minus of +51. Rienk Mast joined Wilcher with a 20-point game, as Mast had 20 points for the third time this season and for the 11th time in his career. Nebraska had two players score at least 20 points for the first time since earlier this season against Duquesne (Nov. 22, 2023). Nebraska improved to 1-1 in overtime games this season. Brice Williams added 17 points and nearly had a double-double with nine rebounds. Williams was 7-of-8 from the free throw line, including 6-of-6 over the final 30 seconds of regulation and the five-minute overtime period. Nebraska is now 12-1 when scoring 80 or more points this season and 20-2 over the past two years. Juwan Gary made his return to the court for the first time since Jan. 17 against Rutgers. In his return, Gary had nine points and six rebounds. Nebraska’s 12-0 was the Huskers’ 16th double-figure run this season.

  36. Mostly made fun of college kids who couldn't hang with his rapid fire game, but he also pandered to the greatest fans in America and generally brought some energy. I'm mostly kidding, but the crowd was just itching to blow the lid off the place, and the show was enough to keep that feeling going. As opposed to the horrific dancing inflatables that got booed.

  37. The first 30 minutes (+/-) was absolutely bad basketball. The last 15 minutes (+/-) was an absolute piece of classic art. What a satisfying win! Bryce went from pathetic to great. Mast faught and faught and then boom. Sam and Josiah's effort raised everyone's game several notches. Then there was CJ. Dude...thank you. Your effort and excellence was a pleasure to behold. Keisei...umm, get your head up! You stunk tonight, but better days will follow. JLaw...we need you on defense my man! Fantastic win gents!!!
