Let’s do a blind resume: Team A: 9-7 and 2-3 in 3rd ranked conference. 4th highest SOS in the country and a win on the road over Team B. Team B: 9-7 and 3-2 in 4th ranked conference. 5th highest SOS in the country and a loss at home against Team A. Team A is #85 and Team B is #17. I don’t know anything about KenPom but it seems like we are far enough through the season that pre-season expectations or prior results shouldn’t be weighing this heavily. At this point you kind of are who you are. Also, F team B.4 points

The women's basketball performance at Rutgers was mostly horrific, in part to a head coach who does not know how to adjust, call effective timeouts,, or run an offense against a zone defense. The current offense of tossing the ball around the perimeter with it usually starting by going to the right side in many cases ending up with someone hucking up a three point prayer and lack of offensive rebounding after that (outrebounded 46 to 35 by Rutgers). Our 4's and 5's get too low to the basket when they do get a pass and rather than passing out to an open player, either get tied up or a turnover or put up a poor shot through a crowd. Players generally lack movement on offensiv or are not shot ready if they do get a screen. The team lacks 10-12 foot jump shot shooters (Weidner could) and people to drive the lane and possibly get fouled as well (Weidner could). Sam needs to do more on this (played 28 min against Rutgers0)and Shelley as well. The team if they play like they did against Rutgers, Creighton, Drake, or the overtime against Indiana. There are no pud teams to play in the Big Ten going forward, so the coaches and team need to suck it up with better plans and efforts!3 points

I have no idea whether Allison has had her acl repair surgery or not; but it isn’t uncommon to give it a few weeks post injury before the surgery to let the swelling go down so they can see structures better when inside the knee repairing it etx3 points -

All big ten wins are good wins. All big ten road wins are really good wins. Loved the heart, effort, and mental toughness. A lot to clean up, made some dumb plays, and forgot to box out a few times. That being said, winning is a skill, and we had some huge free throw makes in overtime to put the game away. GBR, let’s get the place rocking on Tuesday.3 points -
Felt like we made that outcome much harder than we needed to, as seemed like we were clearly the better team over the final 20 / 25 minutes. But nice to see the guys gut it out. It's a win we just had to have. Tough to see a reasonable path to the postseason without winning this one. Much better rhythm offensively today - DW was far more decisive and aware of teammates. Everything on offense feels better when FTs are going in, too. Gary getting those putbacks late in regulation and late in OT were huge. That's the kind of S#&@ that usually happens to us, so nice to have the shoe on the other foot for a change. Hope nobody bet the minus-3.5. Bad beat, especially when we should've probably covered both in regulation and in OT. It'll be nice to be home Tuesday - time to go get another one.3 points

Only moved up one spot in the NET rankings, from 85 to 84. Quads 1/2: 2-7 Quads 3/4: 7-0 Good to not have any bad losses, and I think the only other chance for a bad loss the rest of the year would be Minnesota at home. But, need to rack up some quad 1/2 wins. Will have two big opportunities at home in the next ten days. Illinois would currently be a high quad 2 win, and potentially future quad 1. Ohio State would definitely be a quad 1 win. Hold serve at home (lose at Purdue) and all of a sudden we're in the high 50s/low 60s. Strength of schedule is currently 27th and will move up significantly after these next three games.2 points -

I appear to be the only fan on here with high aspirations (as opposed to expectations). I don't think it's unreasonable that DONU can be on the bubble and it's not as complicated as it's being made out to be; the recipe is fairly simple: 1) Don't take an L to Minny! 2) Finish in the top 8 of the league (easier said than done) That would give us a resume with no bad losses and a bunch of quality wins. The exact combination of wins/losses and their impact on our NET ranking would determine which side of the bubble we'd land on. But I'm going to remain (unreasonably) optimistic the guys can get it done. They have already shown they can compete with the most talented teams on their schedule, and with a few lucky breaks...who knows?!? I'm not about to let a couple decades of Nebrasketball trauma crush my dreams. GBMFR!2 points -

KenPom still predicts a 15-16 (8-12) regular season finish for us. Just need to flip one more win. Rutgers has made a shocking ascent to the top 15 to start 2023, fellas I think the Scarlet Knights are for real...like legit conference title contenders real. Glad we only play them once this year. Wisconsin is a strange duck, they're 11-3 but only ranked #55. I don't really know what to make of the Badgers but I'm also glad we only play them once this year, but that just has more to do with the fact that I freakin' hate that team and their fans. Tim Miles update: Rough day at the office yesterday for coach. A 24 point loss at home for the Spartans against Nevada yesterday has put a bit of a damper on what has been a pretty remarkable season so far. San Jose State went scoreless from the 10:41 mark in the first half until halftime and a scoring drought like that will doom pretty much any team. And just for @Norm Peterson I'll include a Grant McCasland update this morning. The North Texas Mean Green are currently 13-3 (4-1) against a pretty pedestrian schedule, their best win being against KP #105 Grand Canyon and their three losses are by 30 points to #10 Saint Mary's, 4 points to #112 UNC Wilmington and a 4 point loss at home to CUSA favorite #36 Florida Atlantic. It's gonna be NIT for the Mean Green this year unless they win the CUSA tournament. Okay, that's today's KenPom update. Here we go! KenPom rankings as of 1-08-23 ======================= B1G (2-3): 7. Purdue - L 9. Ohio State 13. Rutgers 19. Indiana - L 34. Illinois 39. Maryland 48. Penn State 41. Michigan State - L 50. Iowa - W 51. Michigan 55. Wisconsin 58. Northwestern 85. Nebraska 193. this was the one game that i thought would be a "for sure" road win. i have mentioned this before, but, this team has had issues with layups in many games...even in games they have won. just don't stick out as bad. i hope coach williams was slamming her clipboard against the wall and doing some serious butt chewing. i'm not sure what her locker room demeanor is when confronted with these type of losses. IF, and that is probably a big if, they make the NCAA's....this is the type of loss that can do serious damage to seeding. didn't get to watch the game, thought i would rush home and catch second half.....however, when i turned the game on the phone in the car and matt was mentioning the 3pt shooting (0-22) and how badly they were missing layups, i decided i might as well run errands instead. wow................just wow.1 point -

Tough ass win against a struggling but gutsy team. Really liked that we limited the number of 3's that we shot. Really liked taking the ball to the paint. Really liked our work at the stripe. Good effort and a good win. We are the better ream, but didn't always act or look like it. Need to keep the MOJO going and tske care of a struggling Illinois team.1 point -

My irrational hope and joy continues! Man these games age me. I was 41 when this season started. I am now 173. Walker is so fun to watch. I remember there being discussions he's done playing basketball after college. No one will convince he couldn't make some nice money overseas if he continued playing professionally. I could totally see him in a quasi Draymond Green role.1 point -

Strange game. 2 offensively challenged teams making around 50% of their shots in a pretty physical game. Goofers have 7 fouls at 14:20 in 2nd half and only 3 or 4 the rest of the way until late in the OT. As mentioned, defense (or lack thereof) on the 3 at end of regulation was inexcusable. Need to be aware of the situation, but I guess it's hard to shift from help-mode defensive mindset that you've been playing 39 minutes and 55 seconds. Non-flop call on Garcia on the other end to give Minnesota the possession to tie was bad. They'd let that 'contact' go the entire game. Typical inconsistent and WTF officiating. Glad NU could finally make some FTs.1 point -
