  1. Tim was a good person and a coach that was easy to root for. His players seemed to like playing for him, he always represented the university well. He did his best to take this program to a new level and was damn close. I think a lot of people just want to see him do well, myself included. I’d love it if he could take a team to the dance and win some games. I’ll always feel terrible for him that he was bounced from our game vs. Baylor.

  2. One week from today I believe we crack the top 25. For the time being, we are at least opening some eyes: Relevancy is fun!

  3. Yep. He's the definition of taking lemons and making lemonade. He's had to swim upstream his whole career and done it not only with success, but with a great attitude the whole time to boot. I will never apologize for having a soft spot for Coach Miles, the world could use a lot more people just like him.

  4. Really excited to see the continued development of Jamarcus. 12 assists vs 0 turnovers in the last 3 games

  5. And we have 7 wins. And 7 players shooting 35% (rounded) or better from 3-point range. Four at 40% or better. Four guys averaging between 14 and 16 points per game. Our portal post is averaging a double-double. Our portal SG is shooting almost 42% from 3 and over 90% from the line while posting a 2.4:1 assist/turnover ratio. Our portal native Nebraskan is putting up darn close to the numbers he posted a year ago as a starter at New Mexico in 6 fewer minutes per game. Our SG-converted-into-a-PG has dished 23 assists to only 10 turnovers on the season, and zero turnovers in the last 3 games. What we didn't find in the portal we seemed to have found within our own numbers. It'll be interesting to see what we do on Sunday, but it looks for all the world like all of our major roster needs over the off-season have been addressed. This just has the looks of a team that's going to win some games this year.

  6. Of course Keisei deserves his own thread. He's in the Star City, and he is Nebraska's #1 star worldwide. I can't wait to see what he can do next Sunday for an encore to today's perfect shooting performance. And especially after Duquesne and CSF both tried to get in his head, and both were fried for it. Love every minute of Tominaga at Nebraska. He's one of the most unique talents to ever play in Lincoln. Savor every moment. Take NU to the promised land, K.T.! GBR

  7. Not much to glean from that game. Looked a little disinterested and low-energy today. Won’t be a problem in a week. 7-0 before Creighton, like all of us said had to happen. Well done, fellas.

  9. Lawrence has had Tominaga back for the past 5 games and Juwan Gary for 4. That certainly has helped with J.L. becoming more efficient.

i just saw this. way past time to get a grip on some of these egos. i may be old school but i don't give a s***! imo, she should have been ejected! too much "oh........she is just highly competitive"......BS. and, i don't care whether it's CC or a "no-name" that pulls that crap.....should be ejected!

  11. Not to mention he’s now winning games at a program that wouldn’t necessarily be considered a hot bed of basketball success. Honestly, if we had another previous coach who was still a head, I’d like to track him too. I’m pretty sure we followed Doc’s Southern Miss teams on here back in the day.

  13. It is odd how much attention is given to someone who hasn't been our coach for five years, now coaching a Mountain West school.

  14. Nope. Over the last 2 games I've noticed there have been more than a couple times Tominaga was open and they didn't pass him the ball and reversed it the other way. Williams had an egregious one today. But I've seen a few others do it too. Hopefully just a coincidence and nothing more.

  17. All wins are good wins. There was no energy in the building today, both from the team and the fans. I’m hopeful that in the future the crowd can provide that energy when the team is playing a little sluggish. It seems to me that BW does not want to ever pass the ball to Keisei. There were a couple games early where Keisei was forcing it a lot, but today he was clearly looking to get others there shot and move the ball. Something has to get figured out here. I’m a little bummed that Lloyd didn’t get to play. I’m curious if he has anything that he can offer the rotation, and he just needs his chance to crack into it, or if he is just not quite ready for this level yet. Jones for CSF can score. I really hope this injury doesn’t linger as I hope they can win a few games this year and help our SOS.

  18. We played well enough to win; yet playing like that moving forward likely will end poorly. I really like Jawan; but he has to learn that not all open 3's are good shots. Just saying. Rebounding was bad. We gave up way to many offensive rebounds/2nd chance opportunities. Keisei was perfect from the floor and the line. Yet, what the hell, get him the ball. He did not get enough shots today.

  19. In reading the comments, my favorite one was that "Neither team will make it past the 2nd round in the tournament". Clearly someone doesn't understand our history if they think that is taking a shot at Nebraska (and Purdue)

  22. Haha I figured you all would react that way to my comment. Tim Miles was by far my favorite coach ever (I'm 34), and I hope he does well. I agree with all of those comments. But whether San Jose State moves from #128 to #126 or #130 has no bearing on Nebraska's season outlook. Majority rules though, so carry on.

  23. Jamarques deserves some love for sure. His shooting is still coming around, but he's over 71% from the FT line compared to last year's 38.7% rate. I knew he was better than that number from last year. I knew that would come around. What I love to see with him is how fast he pushes the ball up the floor in transition. His handles appear to have improved significantly over last year. He's making good decisions and he's dishing the ball without being selfish. Which is what we wanted from a PG. He's a guy who actually has the speed and handles to challenge defenses going to the rim. He just needs to finish better. His 3-point shot needs to start dropping a little more consistently. But if you look at just his 2-point shooting in the last 4 games (the first 3 were rough), he's hitting over 57% on his 2-point shots. That's really efficient. And in those last 4 games, he's also dished 16 assists, grabbed 14 boards, and only turned it over 3 times. And his defense remains on point. Cutting him some slack on those first 3 games while he's trying to settle into a new role, and it looks like he's becoming the PG we hoped he could become.

  25. It's a short offseason but still tough to say goodbye for now. Particularly since it feels time for the team to get younger, so this may have been the last rodeo for some old favorites. Johnny - Fan favorite and captain, but one of only five players on the team making 7 figures. Injuries are starting to catch up to him. Club option for 2024. I expect SKC to renogotiate for a lower salary, or else let him walk. Would really hurt (he's the only player in any sport that I have a jersey for!) but Sporting consistently lets players go before their contracts can become an albatross. Zusi - Similar situation as with Russell, just at a lower price. Club option for 2024. I doubt the option gets picked up, but Zusi may have no other suitors at his age and coming off of a major injury. I'm guessing either SKC negotiates Zeus down to near a veteran minimum contract, or he retires. Melia - 8th highest earner on the team. Injuries are becoming more common for him, but otherwise he does not appear to have lost a step to age. He's under contract through 2024, so if he moves on it would be via a trade. Gotta think he would draw interest from a contender in need of a veteran keeper presence. Is SKC comfortable with Mac and Pulskamp moving forward? If so, then I would expect Timmy to be shopped around this offseason. Fontas - 13th/14th highest salary on team, depending on what metric you use. Under contract through 2024. See analysis of Melia above. Could see him being shopped around, particularly since SKC has some depth at CB. Roger - Funny enough Roger is the one greybeard that I would fully expect to still be on the roster next year; he's made it clear that he's willing to play for peanuts, and is content in whatever role Vermes has for him. He made the veteran minimum ($85k) in 2023, so his services are basically free. Younger guys to keep an eye on: -Thommy and/or Kinda. Both are in the Top 6 earners on SKC's roster, and Vermes clearly prefers to not play them together. The rest of the starting midfield is also well-compensated. -Shelton. Top 10 salary, bottom 10 production. Signed through 2025, so would be trade bait if anyone wants him. By small market MLS standards this is an albatross contract. -Agada. Club options in '24 and '25. Priced right as a backup striker, but with two years of affordable club control he is one of SKC's most subtly valuable trade chips.

  28. Keisei made three or four passes that should have resulted in FG/assists. So the lack of assists were not due to lack of effort. In addition, I really thought that the team really didn't look Tominaga's way often enough. That may just be my imagination though.

  29. Did what needed to be done to win. Can't expect great performance every game and 5th game in 14 days. Add in a possible Thanksgiving hangover and this type of performance could be expected. CSF seemed to make every open shot they took. On to the blue birds.

  41. Defensive intensity will be ramped up significantly next Sunday, Juwan Gary will make certain of that. He'll have the fellas ready to rock. Today was a workmanlike effort, it was a bit of good, bad, and ugly at times. I've been very impressed with Lawrence, he's in command of this team. And Mast seems to understand how to gain matchup supremacy. I have no issue with Williams' ability to let the game come to him although I wish he'd be able to rebound better. Tominaga is the #1 offensive weapon NU has and the rest of the squad needs to work better at getting him the ball when he cuts or fades to 3. It will take more time to gel, but they're 7-0. It can't be all that bad, thus far it's been mostly good. Clean up a few mistakes or misreads & they'll be in a position to compete with good programs. Allick and Gary have been the 2 who exert a lot of effort to rebound better than most on the squad, now they need to teach the others to be tougher with the rock when it's up for grabs because they can't continue to lose the battle of the boards & be loose with the ball a la Coleman, or B1G teams will make them pay dearly. For now, let's enjoy being undefeated, no one else in the state of Nebraska is. GBR

  44. We can score.... but if we try and outscore Creighton, things will not go well for us. I feel like we've lost a little bit of that intensity on D the past few games and that can't happen in the games coming up. Also-- as noted, our intensity on the glass has also taken a tumble as of late. Because of that, we've given up a lot of 2nd chance looks and that's really hurt us. Overall though, we continue to do what we want to do and that's win by a pretty large margin. These next three will tell us a lot about where we are at/think we're at.
