This was the portal entry I was most expecting.  He got enough minutes during the season to potentially drum up interest from other suitors, but fell out of the rotation and thus likely has very little expectation of being a key player for us next year.  I wish him the best and hope he finds a great fit.

With that said, I’ve heard some names rumored that may hit the portal with NU being a landing spot. Some local kids.  I’m taking it with a grain of salt as good things rarely happen with this program.

Did he ever fully recover from his injury mid-season? Did we even figure out what that was? I honestly don't remember.

We'll always have those sweet finishes in that one game. 

But ultimately if you can't shoot you're a liability on the floor with everything we're trying to do. Mostly everyone on the court has to be guarded or what we do doesn't work with the back-cuts, curls, flares.

Arbitrary analytics on Denim Dawson playing time this season:

 

Record when Dawson played 10+ minutes: 6-11

Record when Dawson played under 10 minutes: 10-5

 

Digging into it I was surprised how much our defensive numbers dipped when he was on the court. How did people think he operated in our defensive scheme?

 

Not sure how he'll develop going forward but this season he was a liability which is why he didn't play at the end of the year.

Ohio State game this season. Those were spectacular, one right-handed and one left-handed. Probably the top 2 moves on his highlight reel.

I thought he was good on the ball but got lost a lot in rotations. I liked him but did not think he could improve his shot or ball handling enough to get PT

I’m actually hopeful things are in motion already that would make KT come back. That’s all I’m going to say right now about that. 
 

Also, Dawson is a gifted athlete but not a Big 10 level starter or regular contributor. Wish him the best!

I wish Dawson well. He was a good effort player and that always is an asset.  Looks like another team makeover for next season.

Renfro’s more than the Kenny Walton’s.  You gotta love Claude Renfro, he was a DUDE.   I always wondered what happened to Kenny and Handy, pretty sure neither finished their career’s here.
