  1. Just my guess, but that may be as good as ILL can play. Don't think they can duplicate that in the 2nd half. But.... they're at home...makes a big difference.

After watching the Class A final last night. I am all in on NU signing the Gessert twins. Was very impressed with them, particularly Neleigh. They look the part of Div 1 recruits, and to think they still have another year of high school b-ball to grow and develop! Let’s get them aboard, Amy & staff!

  6. Right now, we're tied with Wisconsin for 4th. We have the tie-break advantage over them currently, having beaten Purdue. Iowa is half a game back. If we win the next two, nobody can catch us. Unless there's some kind of tie scenario I haven't thought through. But we own the tie-breaker over Wisconsin and that won't change even if they beat Purdue at the end of the year because they'd only be .500 against Purdue this year and we're undefeated against Purdue.

  7. Yeah, they've crammed a whole season's worth of late inning stress in the last 3 games Blow a 7-run lead before scoring the winning runs in the 8th on a passed ball and steal of home Overcome a 4-run 9th inning deficit to win in extras on a grounder to a drawn-in infield Overcome a 3-run 8th inning deficit and 1-run 9th inning deficit And that's on top of opening weekend where we lose a game where we were one strike away from winning it, plus we lose a game that was tied going into the 9th. That's a pretty strong pattern. Could be a season's worth of crazy finishes on deck.

  9. I am thinking about these scenarios way too much. But I just want a four seed to avoid a bad loss and - according to everyone - we’re in if we win these last two. But when we get the double bye, all I’m going to do is look up possible opponents and path to Sunday. This is a vicious cycle.

yeah, and take note of her quiet/calm focus/determination in the fourth quarter. Trailing by nine against a very active defense - not an ounce of panic or even worry was evident. Also, when she got robbed on her way to the basket after a steal (I think it was McCabe who fouled her three times on her drive up the lane) .... no CC style antics. No acting out. No looks of disbelief - just got up off the floor and went back to work.

  20. Dare I say we look like a team that has had an eight day layoff. Didn't like that when I saw it on the schedule. yeah we needed time to heal up, but I think being in a flow (when games are played) is beneficial.

  27. In the first nine years of the 14-team Big Ten Tournament, we've either played first on Wednesday (7 times) or had a double bye to Friday (twice, in 2014 and 2018). No reason to play the first game on Thursday this season.

  28. Pewaukee has won their first two postseason games and are now in the “Sweet 16” of the state playoffs. Last game, Janowski had 39 pts, 10 reb, 3 ast, 3 stl. Next matchup will be a tough test, going up against a highly recruited 4-star center and a 3-star combo guard with a few power 5 offers.

Hopefully Prince, Williams and the twins decide to “get the band back together” at UNL in fall 2025. Edit: Adding Jenica Lewis from Iowa to the table of offers. I believe she was named the MVP of the Iowa 5A state tournament this weekend, leading her team to the championship as a sophomore. Very impressive considering the number of DI recruits in Iowa 5A. Apparently Dawn Staley was there watching Bourage and Lewis...seems like both players are going to have their pick of schools. it's insane the level of girls talent that has come out of Iowa in the last decade. I wonder if Tominaga's parents will be here again. It's not exactly like walking across the street to get here from Japan. Hopefully they will make it since he seems to play well when they are in the stands.
