So proud of this dude. Stuck it out and now is showing out. Question for the board historians. Wilcher has 50+/40+/90+ shooting % splits. Has that ever been done in Nebraska Basketball history? Keisei was close last year.

  2. In other good news, didn't rush Gary back and he gets an extra 4 days of recovery.

  3. Can you believe we did that without Gary and with an off night from Keisei? People talking about Jamarques Lawrence having a sophomore slump but did you see his defense?

  4. Lawrence with a 6:1 assist to TO ratio tonight. Love it.

  6. I just want to say that I was pretty happy with the officials last night. Game went fast and thought they called a pretty good game both ways. Sure they missed a few but it was one of the better officiated games we have had.

  7. Good 15 minutes out of Rice tonight. Feels like he's going to average 10+ a game starting next year.

  8. One thing that will go unnoticed that I noticed that I found as important as anything. Allick leadership on defense. He was constantly pointing and screaming where Battle was to his teammates. This shows me both growth in the coaching to identify who we cannot let shoot, and more importantly some tremendouys leadershop and communication by our guys to execute it.

CJ is the poster child for working for what you want and making the most of your role. Too many times guys take the easy route and transfer if they lose a starting spot or their PT diminishes. Not CJ and I gotta say… it’s a breath of fresh air. B1G 6th man is definitely there for the taking.

Huge CJ fan. I love him sticking around. This kind of consistency in todays NCAA is immeasurable. He also has figured out his game, what he can do, and what he can’t do. He puts himself in much better situations that he has before. His lateral quickness really isn’t awful…. His vertical quickness is. As long as he plays his game he will continue to be an awesome contributor

  13. Reink Mast. My man! Welp, I picked against us again. But I had to. While I may not be SUPERstitious I am in fact a little stitious And since I let the darkness take over me for the NW game and pick against my team It is now my sworn duty to keep picking the Huskers to lose.

  14. Our offense is now 24 in KenPom. It was 179 in 20-21 with Teddy Allen, Delano Banton, Derrick Walker, Trey McGowens and Kobe Webster. Sum of the parts > individual parts.

  15. Sam Hoiberg just brought it all 2nd half against Thornton. Thornton thought he could abuse Sam like he did Keisei, and Sam had none of it!

  16. One of the better improvements in the last week was the ability to box out. We had some outstanding box outs this game.

  17. If we end up making the tourney, we're going to look back at this stretch! 2-0 against two bubbly teams (NW on the right side of the bubble and OSU on the wrong side) and beat both without Gary. That is HUGE!

  21. Fellas, at 15-5, we now are off to our best start since the 1990-1991 season. And what a season that was- 26 wins and a #3 seed in the big dance.

CJ's showing his maturity in that he recognizes literally what everyone else does: he's a far better player off the bench and that, in turn, only lends itself to more leadership credibility. win win all around, and this young man is smart enough to recognize it. I think by the end of this season, if it goes well, many of us are going to look back at his removal from the starting rotation as on eof the major contributors to the team's success.

  28. Always feels good to kick the crap out of Ohio State in anything. In basketball, no team in the league does less with more talent. Was more than a little worried after scoring 13 points in the first 8 minutes, but the offense was not too bad after that 70 pts in the final 32 minutes will get the job done most nights. Our rebounding was excellent - for a team that rebounds offensively as well as OSU, for us to win the 2nd chance point battle like that (16-2) was beyond impressive, especially without Gary.

Just posted this elsewhere but IMO CJ's play for about 5 to 10 minutes in the 1st half vs OSU got our ship righted and set us on a path to victory. So proud of him!

  31. Just rewatched the game. Not saying CJ won it for us because it was clearly Mast's night. But CJ's play for about 5 to 10 minutes in the 1st half got our ship righted and set us on a path to victory. So proud of his play last night.

  32. One game at a time. Can't look forward, can't look back. Simply focus on the game in front of you and take care of business. We can't focus on win #17 until we secure win #16. I know, I know these are tired old adages; but they are soooo true.

  33. I hope you're right - Maryland's NET number stinks, thanks to a bad non-con, but I think they're starting to round into the form people thought they'd have before the season - quite a few predictions had them earning the double-bye. If we could win there, it would be very impressive on the eye test but wouldn't move the needle much in the metrics, I'd imagine. MD has really struggled in tight games, so hopefully we can find a way to continue that issue for them. Will be very curious to see how they play in Iowa City tonight. MD's win at Illinois last weekend was very impressive, even without Shannon, and they battled MSU the entire way over the weekend. They also played very tight at NW in the mid-week last week, and NW has been nails at home vs everyone but Chicago State. (That may end up being the most baffling result of the entire college hoops season when things are finished.)

  34. We gotta prove it on the road. We lost a huge opportunity at Rutgers so we're going to have to dig deep the rest of the way. Best opportunity is coming up at Maryland. They're talented and athletic but don't play as a team when I've seen them. Gotta get that one.

  35. I don't think Keisei had a bad game, he wasn't given a game. I'm not second guessing anything, especially looking at how things turned out, but he has had plenty of games start like that and then explode. Defensively I think he was Keisei. He got his hands on a couple balls and fouls were called that weren't really sending him to the bench. He only took 6 shots the whole game. I'm sure Ohio State would have been excited going in if they knew Keisei would be held to 6 shots. We don't need him to carry the offense this year and that's a good thing, but he can still carry the offense if given the chance.

  38. Some of the earlier adjustments on the court and mixing of personalities played out in the early games in front of our eyes. I will say, the one have largely disappeared and the on court chemistry is much improved and better. I browsed the Ohio state board because I was curious. The post that got me was “my goodness, we’re playing an international team…” and it was meant in a complimentary way. I guess I never thought of us like that, but yep, international teams prove to be tough to beat unless USA basketball brings out their top level players.

  39. Keisei didn’t have a great game but he played the first part of the second half and simply didn’t need to go back in the way Mast and Wilcher were shooting. Offense always looks better when we are making shots. I’m old enough to remember guys on this board (me included) loathing Mast taking so many threes against Iowa and some even commenting “there’s a reason you’re open” Bottom Line. That was Full Mast today. That was Purdue Mast. It was a thing of beauty. It was eye opening to see him hit the step back. He was hot and his confidence in scoring inside was also at an all time high. I loved seeing it. Im as big of a Keisei fan as there is, but tonight he seemed to be forcing some things and I’ll admit, he put up some forced shots. This give opposing coaches some more things to think about when they scout us. We aren’t just all KT. We can score with a variety of players. A nice win that was fun to be at - crowd wasn’t huge but we were loud at times

  40. Allick and Sam are the dudes who seem to give such amazing effort and willpower to help this team on D. It's an impressive skill. It's a lot harder to do that than to make a bucket, in my opinion. Maybe Keisei needs to just watch film of those 2 dudes to see why he only saw 14 minutes tonight. This team is trending in the right direction. Heart and hustle is there, along with dead-eye three-ball shooting from a bunch of dudes. I love it when they're rollin' in all facets like against Purdue & Ohio St. I guess NU should have PEACOCK be our official sponsors.

  47. I want to see growth this half and see us close a game out convincingly and with a double digit win. Avoid the nasty scoring drought over the final 10 minutes of the game and get the bench in for the final few minutes. Yep, getting greedy here when I should certainly be satisfied with just a win
