Life necessitated I be elsewhere during all but the end of the game. Looks like that might have been ok. Maybe that's a fitting way for it all to end. Now, we see what the changes are...

1. Make changes-- we've got to change something.

 

2. Bryce did not play well for what will probably be his final college game.

 

3. 24 wins in 3 years.

 

4. Gave up a 15 point lead.  Embarrassing.  

 

5. Only one more year of this or are we going to make some changes and actually do something?

Well... personally, the one good thing out of this is I can cancel my Hulu subscription again until the NFL starts up again.  Don't watch other sports enough to pay for Hulu.

i said it in the game thread 5 min into the game that bryce looked checked out. i think his performance would suggest i was right. I have a hard time believing he goes in the lottery

Honestly really disappointed in his play tonight.  Thought he might REALLLLLY want to go out with a bang after the last week and a half.

Really hurt that Wilcher was a non-factor with foul trouble. NW zoned us and 3-15 from 3 was killer

Nebraska beat Nebraska tonight. 

 

I will be interested to see what changes get made in the offseason - but, I’m more than ready to move on from this group.

Disappointing end to a disappointing season. The lack of offense from Wilcher and Bryce was a killer.

 

Can someone explain to me the difference between a block and a charge? 

 

Better yet can someone explain it to B1G officials because a compilation of every block/charge call in this game would be the Epitome of Inconsistency.

Sadist note: Ed scored an accidental bucket for NW off a missed FT.

 

Otherwise the guys devolving into one on one ball at the end doesn't have me too bent out of shape about the refs. We let NW get back into it and it cost us the win.

Despite how the season went last few weeks, it ended the way it's gone most of the year, with guards recklessly driving to the rim. 

 

-i PERSONALLY thought Bryce's wrist bothered him tonight. Didn't look at fluid with his dribbles and obviously it would effect your pull ups. 

-lack of shooting killed them. Controlled the paint, but getting zoned and then going 3-15 from 3 is an easy way to lose. Rebounds obviously played a factor in the second half also

-there were multiple possessions late where Verge drove to the paint and looked off an open player on the perimeter to shoot a wild shot

-reffing is what it is. Both teams have to deal with the bad refs. NW countered with some good shot making late. 

-nance picked us apart, and he was my main concern going into the game. 14-8-8. Killed them. 

 

All in all. Fun way to end the season with the last 3 games. Bittersweet here sure. But it doesn't in my opinion take away the 2 ranked road wins they pulled off. The formula is there to make this offense successful. Get the right ingredients now. Starting at the guard spots. Better decision makers need to be a massive priority.

Actually hilarious when u combine that with the minute where we had a double dribble, palming, and 3 second call.  A second grade team couldn’t accomplish that .

Just watched to post game press conference and boy Fred can't stand Jimmy Watkins.  Not sure what the deal is there but wow..  Its like every time the guy asks a question Fred wants no business answering it

That Verge drive and Trey McGowens drive both could have been called fouls on Northwestern, neither were. Ballgame. What a horrible ending to a good run at the very end of an otherwise disappointing season. Too bad.

Don’t understand what Lat brings to this team. An undersized Wilcher would have been an upgrade.

Second half we got out hustled big time which could have been addressed during a much needed ass chewing timeout and we got out coached big time. 
 

The 3-2 zone hurt us and Fred refused to call a timeout to show our guys how to attack it. Fred never calls timeouts when an obvious run has started against us. 
 

This game was so winnable if FH coached a littke.

He brings size…and occasionally he hits a 3. It’s nice to see him drive to the basket but it doesn’t always work for him.

A very disappointing end to an even more disappointing season. Sorry, this is a bit long!

 

1. There were some questionable calls in the game but Verge and Trey we’re out of control at the end of the game. It’s hard to call a foul for a guy who’s out of control. (Side note: What did Hoiberg call for the last play? I can’t think it was give it to Trey to go the length of the court.) Verge was mostly good but had some killer TOs. Hope McPherson is a strong PG. He seems like such a good leader on the bench. 

 

2. Walker was excellent tonight. I know he’s older, but it would solidify our post play if he came back with Blaise, Andre, Wilhelm, etc. Would also be nice if Denim could play the 3 and 4. 

 

3. Lat needs to go. I don’t want to beat up on the guy. He puts forth effort, but he can’t catch the ball, lacks confidence shooting, and needs to be stronger at the rim. 

 

4. Trey was so good on defense, especially in the first half. Will miss that defensive play and playing with an edge. Would be great to have back but I doubt it will happen. 

 

5. Bryce was very disappointing tonight. His defense was poor and seemed disinterested at times on offense. That said, he should’ve received more foul calls in the first half. If he would commit to playing defense, he would be such a dynamic player. He would be better than Jaden Ivy because he can score more easily and with more variety. Hope he comes back but I highly doubt it. 

 

6. Fred can’t control stupid TOs, but he can control when he calls timeouts. Gotta call one sooner against the zone. And please make some changes with the coaching staff so that we have a complete roster, not just some athletes. 

 

7. Finally, thanks for all of you on this board with such great insights, humor, and also kindness. Most boards get a little too rude and obnoxious. But you guys are great! Thanks and here’s to hoping for better days ahead!
