If given the choice between a Palmer clone or a Watson clone, I would choose a Watson clone. We need a PG in the worst way. I think we don't lose to Minnesota, Rutgers, or last night with Watson. That would make us 19 - 4, and in the thick of the conference race. I commend Lawrence for giving it a try, but he is not ready.

I have heard people say that what this team is missing is a James Palmer or Terran Petteway... Which I kind of agree with - but the thing is - it's literally on the roster. That could easily be Brice Williams. He's got the length, athleticism, 3-Level scoring ability, etc... This staff needs to figure out Brice Williams. He is not lazy, he is not uninspired or unemotional, as people have said - the dude clearly cares and is giving it his all. It seems to me to be more of a confidence issue. They've gotta figure out a way to get him confident and recognize that he could be a dude. This guy has the tools to score ~18-20 a game or so. If they can figure out a way to unlock Brice from ear to ear, that will unlock this season in my opinion.

I'd rather lose this game and not lose another the rest of the regular season. Just watch!

I’m proud of the way we played tonight. Thought a lot of things went Illinois way (cough cough refs). We play like this on the road the rest of the season, we’ll definitely win 1-2 of them. Do that and win our remaining home games, we’ll be dancing.

Another reason I don't take Big 10 teams very far in NCAA tourney bracket. Conference refs aren't available to bail their asses out. Underwood forgot to mention the refs bailed his whiny ass out.

Tominaga is great. CJ is having a breakout year off the bench! Complete glue guy. But we’re nowhere near where we would be right now without Mast. He’s such a big piece for why this works. Can play inside and shoot it from outside. We’re very fortunate his injury happened when it did. Even if he’s out a few weeks in conference, those games would be very tough to win. He'll be one that you don’t fully appreciate until he’s gone. Then you realize how big of a piece he truly was.

What is even worse is that may not have even been the most egregious not called traveling violation in the game.

Lot of compliments on the Illinois board including one that said "that could be a sneaky Sweet 16 team"! However, I saw multiple posts that we played "lights out" or played our "A++" game and honestly, I don't think we played great. Didn't play terrible, but didn't play great either.

I hope we're pissed off and take it out on Northwestern. We played better basketball than Illinois tonight.

I would not want to see that Illinois team again if it were up to me. Too athletic for us and they are a terrible matchup for us. Dimes noted this in his pre-game as well. One thing that helped us get back into it was that they stopped driving. We couldn't stop them when they were driving. Then they started to settle for threes.

the illinois players will know they got some home cooking tonight. let's get a rematch in the tourney.... regardless, the B1G really needs to do something about their officiating pool. Not sure what the deal is, but for a power 5 conference, it often looks like we have the worst refs in div 1.

That seems to be how the Big is officiated. Just play like you want, hit, grab, push, just dare the refs to call something,. Then when they do, raise Holy Hell at the officials and let the crowd also intimidate the other team and ref the rest of the night. I think how they call the game in this league has really hurt our teams in the post season. You try the things that they let the players do during the last what 20 games and then different crew says nope… calls everything and suddenly we (Big 10 teams) can’t change.

Bruce Chubick basically says Tim Miles can't judge talent; tried to back out of an offer when he got cold feet for no good reason; tried to farm him out to UNO when he got cold feet; and if Aguek was good enough for a national runner-up, he was good enough for Nebraska. In fairness ... 1. Bruce leaves out the fact Aguek lost a year of development due to a broken leg injury his junior year (after we'd offered); 2. Bruce leaves out that Miles suggested Aguek try a year in prep school (which is really what pissed Bruce's dad off and that was well-documented); 3. Obviously the Arops didn't think Tim Miles was a slimey deal breaker because his younger brother became a Husker after all of the above went down; and 4. Was Aguek really that good for the national runners up? Really? Because I just looked up his senior year stats on that national runner up team and in his 5th year of college basketball, he averaged 16 minutes and 4.5 points. I'm old enough to remember a game in the '90's against Missouri where we were absolutely hosed. Much like tonight. That Nebraska team took it out on the teams in the Big 8 tournament. I hope our guys do the same.

And what makes it even worse is the ref that called the foul was behind CJ so had no angle to see any contact. The ref that had the correct angle to make the call didn't blow his whistle. Based on how physical they were letting them play all game, there is no way you can make that call.

Players can be great, and Clark is clearly great because she makes those around her better, but can act with some class on the floor. I grew up in an era where Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain etc., played the game with dignity and respect for the opponent. That’s a bygone era for sure.

I couldn’t decide yesterday who got mugged more off the ball. CJ or Keisei. Honestly that’s why CJ didn’t have the best game. KT can hit a three from anywhere at any time no matter if someone is in his face or not. CJ needs to have that little bit of separation which Illinois was not going to give.
