Better cover all the bases

There aren't a ton of pure point guards in college basketball anymore. Did anyone watch the NCAA tournament? We didn't have a pure point guard our most recent visit to the dance either. And I'd say a Miles offense was more desperate for someone who could create for others than a Hoiberg offense that emphasizes proper spacing and ball/off-ball movement. Hoiberg desperately needs the primary initiator to be a selfless, tough-minded player. I don't care if Wrightsell, or anyone else, isn't a point guard. But I've heard enough from people who have seen him play to at least be skeptical of his toughness and mentality. I KNEW Sam Griesel was tough as boot leather and a team first guy. I think Hunter Sallis is, as well. Hoiberg's point guard's stats will always look good on paper due to the system. Just give me a guy who is tough, makes good decisions and plays defense. Edit: I'm not saying a real pure point guard wouldn't be a great thing. I'd love it. It's my favorite position in all of sports, when done right. They just don't make 'em, or use 'em, like they used to.

Sticking the corncob into his shorts would make it more eye-catching (and applicable to a Husker basketball legend named Standhardinger).

We didn’t make the postseason last year. I would say at a minimum it would have definitely helped to have one.

That's a pretty serious accusation. I sincerely hope your source is airtight, because that's not the sort of thing that should be said about a college kid based on hearsay.

I remember watching Denim specifically during one of Keisei’s hot runs - when he went for like 8 points straight. The bench was loving it but not Denim. Then it dawned on me, Denim isn’t seeing the floor (at the time) due to #30 and I thought, at least clap or something. Kind of felt the writing was on the wall after that moment, his body language wasn’t the greatest down the stretch. Never did pay much attention to Q during the season…

Seems to me like it'd be very possible to be a guy who is very engaged in game could also be very engaged with guys on the team he's close with. At the end of the day we're talking about 1 of the bottom 3 guys from our depth chart transferring and for a coaching staff trying to keep employed it doesn't seem more complex than that. In terms of on the court contributions, he's much more likely to be the next Karrington Davis than Bakari Eveyln.

Allowed? That's technically not how transferring works. When we give out a scholarship to someone, it's for four years. If we flat out tell a guy he should transfer out and he doesn't want to, then he doesn't have to.

Thank you! The offense that Fred runs really is not reliant upon the traditional point guard. We leverage (at times) a primary ball handler. Last year it was generally Sam G. Shoot, if you look at our current roster going into next season, pretty much anyone other than Blaise can initiate our offense. Again, who brings the ball into the front court is open to game situations.

I believe we should try to get this out there on social media as much as possible. If enough people see it out in the wild perhaps someone who matters will take notice.

Seriously, that the athletic department did not seek counsel from HHC members on the design of the "new" Herbie as he pertains to basketball is proving to be a significant misstep

What you mistakenly thought was outstanding bench demeanor was actually him getting in other guys' ears telling them it was Sam Griesel's fault they weren't getting theirs. This has been in the cards for a loooong time. The guy was a cancer in the locker room and the cancer has now been excised. Had he not been injured, he would NOT have seen the floor this year to any significant degree.

I’m being way too loyal to a kid who’s never played a meaningful minute for us, but this feels a bit shitty. He was selfless enough to redshirt then had to medical redshirt last year. His demeanor on the bench was outstanding. Was engaged, supportive, and looked like a leader. Wish he would’ve gotten a shot here. Good luck Q!!!
