  1. Optimistic and positive viewpoint ... Not going to say Coach Amy should go, and she probably won't. As a fan don't love things about the coaching schemes, defense, offensive schemes, recruiting etc. We've talked about it for pages, days on end. Sure, I wish we were in NCAA's every year. But face facts, the team isn't in shambles, and a bunch of players aren't leaving. Possibly may get Jazz and/or Issie to return (probably unlikely) ...anyway... Trev may have some input after this season. The team in general is a pretty tight knit group. Players seem to enjoy each others company. Academically, and school wise, the set up does well for players. They represent the school well as a group. The team's atmosphere is good. But they're probably frustrated too. And like it or not, we've accomplished enough to get into post season play.... getting at least, into the WNIT. The men can't say that much. Winning seasons in the B1G are few and far between for them. As always, I'll just watch and enjoy what they do from here on out this season. There's always another right? I just won't criticize individual players on this forum. Truly believe they themselves are doing the best they can. None makes mistakes on purpose. Have to believe they lose sleep about how they're playing. It's stressful for a 18-19 yr old to perform in front of thousands with the cameras on. Been an NU sports fan for decades and women's BBall since before Yori. So, will just go with the flow and see what happens in women's basketball. My world just isn't going to fall from the sky. This was probably the most disappointing season I've really ever watched. I really felt after last year the coaching staff turned a corner and I did expect us to be a top 25 team. Going forward I'd like to see 3 things. 1) develop talent. Freshman year should not be the ceiling and only down hill from there. 2) play defense. Our defense on dribble penetration is pathetic at best. If it's not too inconvenient coach physical defense, it should help the offense quite a bit since we seem to wither and dye when the other team plays physical. 3) respect the possession. We have way way to many give aways on unforced errors Unlike the rest of the board I believe we have the talent for a real winner. MM, AS, AM that should be a solid post. AW, KC, KM, CH pretty good pieces in the back court

  3. The silver lining is if Wisconsin does lose, we cannot be the 12 seed. A possible tournament path would be Minnesota, Michigan, Maryland, Iowa (could be a 2 seed if they beat us Sunday). That's not exactly a murderers row.

  4. A lot of things bother me with Amy's coaching. I'll just comment on a couple. In all the years Amy has been at Nebraska her teams always have a tough time breaking a full court press. I'm surprised every team doesn't press us the whole game. We always look like we've never seen a press before. The other team usually gets several steals and easy baskets, like tonight. Also we have the worst out of bounds plays. Her inbounds plays seem to always take too long to get someone open just to get the ball in. We usually lose the ball 2 or more times a game. It's time for a change but I doubt it will happen this year.

  5. Iowa City’s weather isn’t any better than Lincoln’s, and Lisa Bluder is an absolute boss at recruiting talent and signing girls to go play there. I also refuse to believe that Iowa’s WBB facilities are better than NU (Hendricks Training Center and PBA)

  6. I agree, Wisconsin has shown great improvement throughout the year. Illinois has also gotten better under their new coach this year. If those teams continue to improve and Neb remains stagnant, we will be lucky to remain a middle of the pack team.

  7. Another game of too many turnovers in part as unable to handle the press as should have been expected and practiced for. Poor in the paint shooting. Only 3 points from the bench. Unfortunately Williams contract goes to April 2026,which we can not wait for termination. She should not get a year extension so those of you that know Alberts need to get in his ear. Here is her employment agreement: https://nebraska.edu/-/media/projects/unca/docs/transparency/contracts/amy-williams-contract-of-employment.pdf

Watched her at the State tournament today. NICE. she spent the vast majority of the first half, working the ball in the half court, attempting to involve her teammates. In the second half, she turned up the heat and took her game full court. Wonderful to watch.

If one were to read all my posts from the past 3 months, they would see that I have been increasingly critical of Amy Williams as a coach. Anything I say here would most likely be repeating things I have already posted regarding her tenure. Simply put, after 7 seasons to judge by, I believe Amy has “maxed out”. I feel she has hit her ceiling and has taken the NU WBB program as far as she’s capable of taking it. And if we lose both Issie & Jaz, no way will we be a better team next year than we currently are. Not with Amy and her staff’s history of underdeveloping the players on her roster. And don’t get me started on how she doesn’t even have a full roster…

  17. I would say we probably should ease up a tad on the strength of schedule though. Rutgers and Penn State did pretty well this year playing garbage and racking up a bunch of wins in the non-con.

  18. Thanks for posting these. Would give you more upvotes if I could. Easy to watch them after a win. Easy to forget to watch them after a tough loss. We all need to take the time to watch the seniors speak IMO. If we get this turned around, these two are going to be a big part of the reason why.

  19. Jamarques has shown he belongs at this level. Hope we keep him for his career. I've heard Ramel Lloyd was the best of the freshmen in November. He's obviously going to be a little behind in development for having sat out compared to Jamarques. There were concerns that he was sitting out in order to save a year of eligibility to transfer, but I've heard Ramel plans to return. Which is nice. The general consensus on Gary is that surgery should take care of the problem with his shoulder and that he'll be back better than ever. And I've heard the names of one or two guards to keep an eye out for in the transfer portal. If all of that comes to fruition and we can find a suitable replacement for Derrick Walker, we could actually be OK next year. I certainly think we have some pieces to build around.

    What is Doc. up to?

Jeepers, gotta love Doc. Sounds like him and Fred are still “good” from the article. I wish we could get Doc’s take on what all was going on last year ( that’d be something ). I’ll never forget the mighty mites season ( ugh that loss to A & M ). The day they gave tours to the new practice facility, Doc was in his new office and he sees our group coming. He just busts open his doors and tells everyone to “ come on in”…. dude was awesome. I still like to us his phrase “‘preciatecha” ( translation = I appreciate you).

  22. We made more 3's, we made more free throws, we had more rebounds, we had less turnovers and we still lost. I would say its time we started defending people, especially mid-range and in the lane.

  24. Tough break for Wilhelm and Keita at this point in the year but just the theme for the season. Part of me thinks that if this game starts getting away from us by halftime, then we should just take all of the starters out and try to rest up and get as healthy as possible.

  28. I agree. If I was an opposing coach, I’d press all day. I also do not feel like the offense that we run plays into our strengths at all. Lex is our highest 3 pt percent shooter and this Offense is a 3 pt shooting offense? We have good bigs, use an offense that works it in. And we need to be able to run a zone. So we can still play d and cut the foul trouble. Instead our girls just don’t play d. IMO.

Seven Years In; and the Natives are getting restless. I hate being 'That Guy,' but the topic seems to deserve its own discussion rather than the random posts being made at the end of each loss, out of frustration if nothing more. I apologize for naming names, but the intent is not to point fingers at any particular individual(s) for deficiencies, but rather to try to highlight more symptomatic causes. At best we are a middle of the pack, to lower tier of the conference team. On the positive side, over the past seven years I've never seen the Lady Huskers Quit fighting in a game (i.e. their/our signature is and has been: GRIT, NO QUIT HUSKERS). We can beat top half teams (This year is the first season we've Ever defeated Maryland), but not consistently enough to remain in the top tier. We could have better talent (you can always have better talent), but I believe a larger cause of our shortfalls may be coaching. For just two examples, I'd like to see Alexis Markowski develop more moves around the basket when she is double and triple teamed that might improve her chances of making the play, or kicking it out when there is no chance of a play rather than risking a turn-over. As good as she is (whatever would we do without her), Issie, as well as others seem to miss some of the more easy lay-ups under the basket Each game. Whether it's excitement, or just heat of the moment, is this is something that coaching could address? I'm sure those more observant or knowledgeable than I have several other/better examples they could talk about, such as roster management. I am not saying that Coach Amy Williams should be let go, but is anyone else disappointed that in the six months she had to replace Coach Chuck Love her selection was a coach from her sister's coaching tree? I am not trying to denigrate Jesscia Keller, indeed I have seen several positive comments about her; But the question is: Is she the Best Coach that was available for the job who could enhance our skills, given the six-month search, and likely go-ahead to open the checkbook by the AD for the right hire? What I have read is that she is very compatible with Amy's coaching style, but it in order to progress further might we need someone with a somewhat different coaching style and approach to game strategy rather than an Amy clone. Trev faces a dilemma this off season. Are we content to remain a 'middle-of-the-pack' team, as we have been the past seven years, or try to instigate some changes to improve the record. The answer may may well affect our ability to recruit top-level talent (thinking Britt Prince). Indeed, To attract top talent, one needs to have the top coaching and development they deserve, and should expect. We have seen how Coach Hoiberg has revamped his coaching staff; and seen the results on the basketball court this season. Fire Away (taking cover)!

Gotta a whistle a foul on that comment. Considering just the one game in the tourney is unfair. We have to consider the entire season in which the Huskers were 8th of 14 - right in the middle. Besides, we were the THIRD team out. I know that every team has injuries and i don't know how to "rate" the severity of injuries among the teams. I do know that three Husker losses were without Haiby and eight or ten or so were without Weidner.

  35. Don't think I can really add anything new to what has been said. Disappointing game, overall disappointing season. Some highs certainly, but the lows were pretty low. I did not feel optimistic about winning this game- I always tend to think there is a "revenge factor" for the team that loses the first game, esp. if the teams look pretty even. Thought after we got away w/ a W in the first matchup that MSU might be a little more likely to win a game vs. NU on a neutral court. Oddly enough, that matchup occurred and this is the result. Of course, whatever else happens in a game, the ball has to go in the basket a better percentage than the opponent most of the time in order to win. MSU got the better end of the deal in that regard. I have been thinking for awhile that Coach Williams maybe had bought herself another year based on last year's success. I see at least a few feel like perhaps the time is now for her to move on. I don't know if my assessment is accurate we will see. Just saying it has been my prevailing thought. I know for sure that not only do we need more overall talent, but more bodies to rely on that are more talented (i.e. a fuller roster). Seemed like we often got very little from the bench in games this season, particularly in conf. play (now I have not browsed the season stats so maybe I'm wrong but this is my impression trying to rely on memory). I have my doubts that Coach W. and co. will somehow accomplish that before next season starts (i.e. said talent infusion). We have some nice talent coming in as far as we can tell (2 players are Gatorade players of the year, I think that is a first for WBB- let me know if that is wrong) but three talented players obviously will not be enough (one is a verbal). Of course that is to offset at best the losses that will occur. Sorry for the verbiage. We will see how much they want to play in the postseason as they have time to think about today's game, work on their game individually as well as practices, and await the WNIT pairings

  37. Interesting I got one at 11:19 this morning. Have until the 7th to reserve your tickets. They actually gave a list of potential dates Nebraska might be hosting as well. The email I got said we have the potential to host rounds 1-6. With rounds 4,5,6 being played at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

  39. If Markowski transferred, that would be the most damning indictment of AW as a coach. Because you know her father Andy is NU true blue, through and through. So if he signed off on Alexis transferring, it would indicate to me that Andy has lost all faith in Amy and her program.
