It'd be cool if PBA did that, but it'd be even cooler if the team can't be there because they're holding the B1G trophy in Minneapolis and are watching the selection show still in their uniforms and championship t-shirts with nets draped around their necks.

No more projections. The field is set. We're here. Now it's time to take care of business. Let the Big Ten tournament chatter commence.

In order to win the Big Ten tournament, we'd have to best a Sweet 16-caliber team and a national top 4 seed. I would MUCH rather get that first NCAA tourney dub. And I've been saying for awhile now that if we manage to get into the round of 32, we are a TOUGH team to prepare for in 2 days. We play a different brand of defense than what anyone will have seen all year, and we have a lot of offensive weapons you'd have to account for. Let's get that NCAA tourney dub because I think we've got a good shot of reaching the Sweet 16.

I'm just saying. Maybe there will be a #30 jersey hanging in the rafters after all. Usually it's reserved for NBA lottery picks. They didn't even do it for Venson Hamilton, who was conference POTY. But they gotta do something to honor the guy who leads this program to its first NCAA tourney win. And we aren't the team we are without him. So ... I'm just so freaking geeked and I wanted to share in the feeling of being geeked with the few hundred people on earth who would understand.

I was actually working on some research over the weekend and this is a great thread to share. Nebraska Resume Average = 25 2023 Power Conference Teams with similar Resume Average: Missouri 22.5 - 7 seed Miami 22.5 - 5 seed Iowa State 26 - 6 seed Kentucky 26.5 - 6 seed TCU 30 - 6 seed Michigan State 30 - 7 seed 2022 Power Conference Teams with similar Resume Average Michigan State 24.5 - 7 seed LSU 25 - 6 seed USC 26 - 7 seed North Carolina 26.5 - 8 seed Texas 29.5 6 seed Nebraska Predictive Average = 35 2023 Power Conference Teams with similar Predictive Average Michigan State 33 - 7 seed Iowa 33.3 - 8 seed Miami 37 - 5 seed 2022 Power Conference Teams with similar Predictive Average Indiana 32.7 - 12 seed (had resume average of 52) Michigan State 33 - 7 seed Seton Hall 34.3 - 8 seed USC 37.3 - 7 seed And for what it's worth, we are 24 in Bart Torvik's overall ranking right now. The teams in that range last year on Selection Sunday were: 22 Texas A&M - 7 seed 23 Auburn - 9 seed 24 Kansas State - 3 seed 25 FAU - 9 seed 26 TCU - 6 seed 27 Virginia - 4 seed I did not look into these teams nonconference SOS for example, which would hurt us. But in the research I've done, the NCAA official seed list most closely mimics the Strength of Record metric than anything else, and the seed list generally falls much more in line with the Resume Average than the Predictive Average (Resume Average had a differential average of about 3.85 from the official seed, while Predictive Average had a differential average of about 7.74). And Strength of Record is our best metric. I think people might be surprised where we end up. Our SOR and Resume Average are in the 6-7 range. Even if they punish us more for the non-conference SOS (which the metrics are already supposed to have factored in your strength of opponent), 8-9 right now at worst. 10 is laughable to me, given all the information above. Our numbers are pretty dang good. Speaking of being 24 in Bart Torvik, in 2023 Kansas State (24 BT, Elite 8)...FAU (25 BT, Final Four)...in 2022, Michigan (27 BT, Sweet 16)...North Carolina (28 BT, Finals)...2021, Arkansas (25 BT, Elite 8)...UCLA (30 BT, Final Four)... OK getting ahead of myself now :)

It was a season that no one thought was possible. And we get a top 4 seed in the B1G tourney and the first win in Huskers' history at Michigan.

Getting the 3 seed over the 4 seed was massive as we think we got the best path to get to the finals as any team.

Keisei scoring 30 points in the last game doesn't hurt his chances at recognition

To be honest, Wisconsin's and Northwestern's demise couldn't have worked out better since our team's schedule opened up in the same time-frame. At one point, UW was 8-1, and our team at one point (after losing to NW) was sitting at 6-7. Amazing to see our squad at 3rd in a tie-breaker at 12-8, while UW ended at 11-9. Crazy...

Today a was fantastic performance from Keisei, and we aren’t the team we are without him. You’re right. But we aren’t the team we are without Williams either. Or Allick. Or Mast. Or Gary. Or…… This is a TEAM, and they are playing better than sum of their parts. And everyone is doing it. Coaches and players.

These next weeks are going to be so much fun!

Watching some of these halftime recaps for the day and they're just showing Caitlin Clark walk into the stadium high-fiving people, then showing the final basket to tie the game and take it to OT. Then fast forwards to Iowa winning the title. Pretty disingenuous for Nebraska, and even the other Iowa players, if you ask me.

I don't think he likes to come in at the end of games like that - and I think Fred has decided to defer to his wishes. There was a game at home earlier where I saw Fred ask him if he wanted to go in at the end in that situation and he said no so Fred did not put him in. I think Boogie ultimately just accepted that his role with this team was as a practice player and to do what he could to help from the bench and decided he was done playing absent an injury to the guys in the rotation.

SOR is up to #23. Bracketologists are rarely accurate. Not sure why they don’t just follow the metrics like the committee does. I’m pretty sure if the season ended today we’d be a 7 seed at the lowest.

Yeah, I'll feel differently if NU plays in Omaha within these next 2 weeks, for sure. It would be a ginormous weight off one's shoulders and a major marketing tool for Freddy & the program to get that little monkey off their backs and be able to show recruits we have a Sweet Sixteen, even. But, first, I'll still prefer winning it all in Minny would feel pretty darn sweet, only wish NU WBB had sealed the deal. A double sweep in Minneapolis would have been golden.

Most has already been said, but what a statement finish. Ruin senior day at an arena we've never won against a blue-blood program. And our guys looked and played as they should: Like the better team they are! This is such a special team.

No, that's true. The thing that stands out maybe the most about this group is that it's a team. It's a group where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. They've got just enough talent that they have the ability to win some games. And this year, we won't be overmatched against a Baylor team that's just way better than us. This year, we'll face a team in the 1st round that we can beat. And we'll face a team in the 2nd round that will have a hard time getting ready for us because they won't have seen anyone like us all year long. Prediction: Next year, you're going to see teams try to copy our defense.

Nick is watching our games and thinking to himself, "boy, did I choose right or what?"

If you’re talking this year— while it’d be nice, no we don’t need to win one in Minny. We would be moving more toward 7 seed range if we do though.

I just bought some at noon on axs.com They were all already resale, so I got robbed. I just got the best availabke tickets for the cheapest price. Upper bowl were $90+ too $116 per ticket, but I got 5 in a row in the lower bowl in the corner. Edit: I probably should mention I also paid $136 extra for the stupid fees

Michigan State has a resume average of 43 and predictive average of 19. If I had any power at all I would lead a revolution to abolish predictive metrics as I believe they serve no purpose, and KPI and SOR are more than enough. The NET more closely resembles the predictive metrics too, which is a huge problem considering your entire resume is built around the NET ranking of teams you played. South Carolina is 49 in NET and nearly won the SEC regular season title. Indiana State is 29 in NET and won 1 game against an NCAA Tournament team all season (Drake). According to predictive metrics, Michigan State is a 5 seed, Villanova is a 7 seed, Wake Forest is a 7 seed, Cincinnati is a 10 seed, Washington State is a 12 seed, and South Carolina and Utah State are not worthy of an At Large... I'm sorry, but that is ridiculous. That is just using a metric just for the sake of using a metric to say you have more metrics. I understand there are many other factors at play, but you can look at data from the last few years and it all tells the same story: Resume Metrics are considered much more heavily than Predictive Metrics in the selections and seeding. If Michigan State loses to Minnesota, I think they're either out or going to Dayton. If they beat Minnesota and lose to Purdue, I would guess 10 seed and yes we will be ahead of them.

Over on the IU board, they are really excited about their draw, their “likely” scenario of playing on Saturday, and are talking possibly sneaking into Dayton. Lot of confidence for a team who was swept by both Penn State and Nebraska. I guess 4 wins against middle of the pack B1G teams will do that to you.

The stats on the joy of exceeding expectations. Kansas is also 22-9 right now and I would assume that most of their fans assume this season has been a failure of sorts.

I’d prefer getting that elusive first tourney win. Being the only P5 program without a tourney win in 125+ years of basketball is a 2000 lb gorilla on our backs to me.

KT could have gotten the record today. I like that he didn't have to for us to win. HCFH rested him for a long stretch in the second half. Did the same thing for JA. Also, really liked how HCFH showed great defensive halftime adjustment. Well done! NCAA Tournament is locked, now make some noise in the BTT. I'm a bit emotional now.
