Somehow, we’re still hanging around in this. I’m impressed with Hake, and I thought MM lifted us with a couple of buckets and an assist or two. AM seemed to play a little better after that.4 points -

CJ needs to find a spark. He looks like a deer in headlights. Passing up open 3's to dribble into traffic and miss a contested shot or turn the ball over ain't cutting it right now. Have Lawerence start in his place and let CJ come off the bench. Just frustrating watching the young man continue to struggle every game.4 points -

Yeah, this is a tough one. I thought CJ would have elevated (no pun intended) his game this year. Perhaps he has a bit on the defensive end; but certainly not on the offensive end. Missed bunnies, failure to consistently hit open look 3's and generally looking out of sorts has been the theme. It is surprising to me because he appears to have worked hard at reforming his body in preparation for the year. At this point, the issue may be between his ears. Starting a game like last evening, missing an open lay up, has to be getting to him. We need him, and I am hoping the light clicks on for him. Perhaps allowing him to come off the bench for a few games would shake off the gremlins? Gotta do something.4 points -

We haven’t had many good looks at threes. Most have been forced or under pressure. To be an elite team we need to improve our overall quickness. It starts with better recruiting.3 points -
I have to eat some of my words. The girls have picked it up on the defensive end and are matching the aggression of the Buckeyes. Still worry about our sloppy turnovers but we have a good chance if we can keep this level of play.3 points

Walker may have just had the greatest 15-minute stretch to start a game for an individual Husker player ever. Scores 87% of our points and shuts out the potential national player of the year - all while keeping us within 6 against the #3 team in the country on the road, 21-15 at the 5-minute mark. And Walker carried the offensive load when everyone in the building knew he was the only real offensive threat going. I think I've played on intramural teams at NU that had more offensive firepower than we put out there a few times. Incredible first 15 minutes for a team as short handed as we are. Unfortunately those last 5 minutes were tough.3 points

Just checked on Ohio St center. She 23..(at least that's what the OSU site says), and played on her Slovakian National Teams for about three years before coming to the US to be a freshman in college. Started playing on national teams in about 2016...that would make her about 15 or 16 then Played for the club team Piestanske Cajky for three seasons in the highest league in Slovakia. Helped her team win the Slovakian Cup in 2017 and finish runner-up in the Central Europe women’s league.2 points

O State is about two step steps quicker, but we're getting up to speed. We like the speed game too. They're just so deep with quickness and shooting skills. May be one of the most aggressive teams we've seen this year.. Easy to see why they're #32 points

So much this. How anyone can say that Tim’s teams weren’t getting it done and had plateaued and then also say Fred deserves more time is beyond me. I think that’s what annoys me most. In the off season we had a thread about what Fred needed to get done this year. Multiple people said post season or bust minimum. I still hold this thought.2 points -

I agree the Hoiberg hire seemed, at the time, like a can't-miss. If you HAD to fire your current coach AND Hoiberg was available and interested, it would seem like a no-brainer hire. I got a ration of grief at the time from a number of people on this board who claimed I was going down with the Tim Miles ship. I was reminded of this recently when someone said my claimed support of Miles was "revisionist history" and so I went back and looked at the old threads. Seeing how it has all played out, it's kind of hard not to come back with a little bit of "I told you so." On the other hand, I'm willing to accept that the Tim Miles ship sailed and to agree that Hoiberg would have appeared like a home run hire, would have been expected to succeed readily, and can only be criticized in hindsight. Nobody would have anticipated the degree of failure here, including me. Still ...2 points -

After 7 years, this university deserved better? Better than what? Better than 13-5 in conference in year 6 followed by a year 7 in which two starters went down with season-ending injuries and we STILL had the end-of-year heroics we had, including a second-straight trip to the NIT? If Hoiberg's 5th Husker team somehow manages to reach the post-season next year, people around here would wet themselves. Some of them being the same people who argued Tim Miles should be fired after reaching the post-season in year 7. The patience with Fred and impatience with Tim mystifies me.2 points -

Ho hum. Just another game surrendered in the first 5 minutes. Whatever the pregame ritual is, it needs some serious adjustment. Nebraska, when not completely stuck in the mud, looked completely lost and uninterested in the 1st quarter. You're not going to win many games digging a double-digit hole in the first quarter, let alone against a top-5 team. The consistency of not being ready to play is a huge, huge problem for this team. Played them even the rest of the way. Completely dominated the first 8 minutes of the 3rd quarter, but missed FTs and layups allowed the suckeyes to win the quarter by 2 points. Get it to 4 or 5 points going into the 4th, you might have a shot. Career day by their tank certainly didn't help. Whatever she threw up was going in, but very few of her shots were contested in any way.1 point

Stat line might look average for Markowski, but I thought she fought her fanny off today. Tremendous effort.1 point

The effort is there but the execution not as much. OSU is just shooting the ball better, and their overall team quickness advantage is making it challenging for us. Keep fighting ladies! Though it's not looking good now. GBR!!1 point

Not a good ending to the 3rd quarter. I doubt we can come back from a 12 point deficit. Our inability to hit free throws is dumbfounding.1 point

I fully expected us to lose one of those "buy" games this year, maybe two. I expected a beat down by Creighton. So, based on our 3 prior years, we are 3-4 wins ahead of what I expected. It's the main reason I did not renew my season tickets this year. I regret that now. Assuming we get Griesel back, I think we will steal 4 or 5 more wins this year. maybe on the road at Penn St or something, and then a few at home. That would put is at 13-14 wins. After the last 3 years, that's much better than I expected this year. Edit: I'll add that, if we get to 14 wins, we will really regret the first Purdue game where we had chances to win at the end and couldn't pull it off.1 point

So Tim failed cause he couldnt bring in a navy seal guy. Not due to bad recruiting, not due to bad assistant hires, not due to keeping players? I mean you get handed a brand new facility and $ that has never been spent before and your only success in 4 early years was lightning in a bottle. Is the only reason everyone loves Tim is his charm or that he wasnt as bad as Fred. It blows my mind that everyone lives in revisionist history1 point -

OK and you're seeing how well that played out. If we were Rutgers and Steve Pickiell was Tim Miles, posters on this board would have been calling for him to be fired after two straight last-place finishes his first two seasons and an almost-last-place finish his third. This university deserved better after 7 years of Miles? Did we set Miles up for success here? If you want to say we did, then explain to me why Scott Frost and Fred Hoiberg were both allowed to bring in outsiders -- like the Navy Seal guy -- to work with their teams on leadership and toughness, but Tim Miles was not. Explain that one to me.1 point -

You are right that he is not coming back to Nebraska, everybody knows that...if it is mentioned it is only done so sarcastically. But the answer to the question you asked above is absolutely unequivocally yes the program was in a better place when Tim left than when he came here. Doc Sadler had taken what was supposed to be his best roster at Nebraska to a 12-18 (4-14) record and average attendance in the low 3,000's at Devaney. He had left the program in an absolute shambles and on a steep downward trajectory. Doc reached the post season 3 times in 6 seasons (all NIT with a 1-3 record) Tim Miles took that program and finished above .500 in conference play twice (two times more than Doc achieved that feat) and, oh he also sold out season tickets to a 15,500 seat arena for each of his 6 years at PBA. The program was on the rise in the last two years of his tenure, or at worst it was plateauing at high-teens win totals. Tim reached the post season 3 times in 7 seasons (two NIT and one NCAA also 1-3 record)1 point
