I think, objectively, we made some pretty good off-season moves. Ain't nothin you can do about the guys who exhaust eligibility. They're gone no matter what you might wish. But EVERYONE else who left was basically at the bottom end of the rotation and, basically, everyone you hoped would stay did. AND we added some much-needed pieces.

But no roster is perfect. Most rosters have a hole at some position or another. Heck, the last time we made the dance, DAVID RIVERS (great kid, by the way) started at power forward for cripes sake. That was clearly our weakest link.

Where's the hole in the roster this year? If you had to drag some former Husker off some prior team to complete this roster and make it whole (whole, hole; their, they're; I got this), which spot are you looking to improve? And, to make it interesting, let's say you can only choose a guy who's played within the last 15 years.

From Doc Sadler to now, pick one player from a prior Husker roster to turn this year's squad into an NCAA tourney team.

Tai Webster or Lance Jeter. Both would excel in Griesel's role in this offense. And both were elite defenders. Good leaders. Tai would be a much different style of player under Hoiberg.

Shoutout to James Palmer. Such a good isolation player, but also an underrated playmaker. Averaged 3apg and his role wasn't to distribute. Would be interesting to see how Hoiberg would use him. A lot of length and versatility on both ends.

I feel the need to defend David Rivers here. Miles made the comparison of him to Draymond Green, saying sometimes the most important player on the team isn't one of the best players. He was very valuable for that team. If you traded him with a more talented player, who needs the ball in his hands and isn't as versatile defensively, that team is worse off.

Based on the roster as it stands, I feel compelled to go with a PG. That leads me to either Lance Jeter, Tai Webster or Glynn Watson.

I'll go with Sweet Jete in this case. Watson is too small to pair with our current backcourt and Tai's sub-30 career 3P% is a non-starter for a Hoiberg PG. Jeter's positional size & leadership ability would be huge for this team, not to mention he is a good distributor who can make open 3s.

The biggest weakness I see is dynamic on-ball creation. There isn't really anybody on the roster who is adept at beating his man off the dribble to create an advantage for himself or collapse a defense and get a teammate open reliably. There isn't really a plus athlete in the backcourt, and that will be a problem on defense as well. There's only so much scheming you can do; eventually your guys just have to win in key moments.

The obvious hole is creation for self and others from my point of view. There's ways to counter that with ball movement and off ball movement, Coleman in particular will have to carry most of this load. Lawrence hopefully improves in this area as well. Guys like mast, allick, Gary and CJ will have to be smart with the ball though, as be asked to do some creating.

I think Fred can gamelan around it and I trust him to do so. Over his coaching career here, he's always had someone finish top 10 in the big ten in apg, with two being there last year.

To answer the question, obvious one is Tai Webster. Brandon Richardson would've been a great fit in this offense in my opinion too

Petteway is one of my favorite Huskers ever, but I don't think he would fit as well with this roster as the other guys mentioned.

I see a lack of slashers and shot creators.  There is no Petteway or JPJ on this team.
