A very good reason to be skeptical of the rating/star system.  He was/is a 4* recruit.   Wilhelm is/was as well.

I guess stars could matter, but the system the player goes to has to match the players set of skills.  Or so it seems.

He's a 4 star recruit because if he puts it together he's a NBA player.  You can't teach the physical ability he has....he's probably a better center prospect that Eduardo Andre in that regard.  The guy has only been playing basketball for about 4 years so there is a chance he's going to get good.

When Mikki got here he was listed 6’10” 180.  I could not believe Nee didn’t redshirt him to develop his body.  That was when Big Country and Ostertag were in the league…they literally had 100 lbs on him.  If my memory serves me correctly (far from a sure thing) he played a total of 18 minutes that year.  By the time his body matured he was a force.  One of my all time favorites.

Yeah, Mikki finished at NU at 6'-11" 220#... as I had to look it up what weight he started at Nebraska, which was 6'-11" 195#. He played 87 min. in 14 games as a true FROSH. Danny Nee wanted to redshirt him, but I guess Mikki still stayed 4 years. Mikki scored 31 points his first year and still almost finished with 1,000 points for his NU career. He was very effective as a SENIOR, averaging 11.7 pts 7.4 reb. His final 2 years at NU, he shot 58.4% each year and around 70% on FT. Amazing that Mikki Moore played a lot of NBA basketball; and he played for a lot of teams, too.

I will not be able to find the source material, but I remember back at the time, the LJS put out the data from athletic testing and Mikki had one of the best vertical leaps on the team. Like a standing vertical of somewhere in the mid-30s. To go along with his 6'11 frame and long arms. And the reason he hung around the NBA for awhile is he turned himself into a solid mid-range jump shooter.

Given his length and vertical, I used to say it'd be fun to see Tom Osborne use him in goal line situations. Can you imagine a 7 ft tall slot receiver with good hands and solid leaping ability drawing defenders to the back of the end zone for a jump ball? Fewer defenders to stop the QB keeper. Pick your poison. But it never happened. Shame.

Gronk used to complain that defensive backs targeted his knees.  Mikki would suffer that same issue x2.  But I agree it would be intriguing,  especially at the goal line.

In the one year of six man football that I participated in, we played against a receiver who was 6'9" and about 175 pounds.  He lit us up until he broke his sternum in the third quarter.  I made the mistake of looking at him being attended to, he had a big lump sticking out of his chest and it was pretty disturbing.

There was one of the strangest plays I've ever seen in that game, when I blocked a PAT where I beat the kicker to the ball on the tee.  I'm trying to figure out, what do I do, I think it's illegal for me to kick it, if I reach down and pick it up I'm likely to get kicked myself.  Anyway, the stupid kicker still tried kicking it and hit hit me in the shin about an inch above my foot.

I've never watched a six man game.  In my four years of playing 8 man, I don't think we ever kicked a PAT.  We only tried one FG, and that was at the end of the first OT in the state championship game against Madrid/Wheatland. I was the holder. We missed and lost the game in double OT.  First OT game in football in Nebraska history.

In six man, kicked PATs were worth two and PATs where you went for it were worth one.  PAT tries are not very easy either way - we won a game 50-49 because we converted on two extra points to the other teams one (one out of eight...).  Converting kicks isn't easy since if you're using a holder you have to block six with four (and one of those has to snap as well).  That's why there's occasionally you see a drop kick.

Ouch x 2.  I cracked my sternum in my junior year.  Just a crack; but the doctor let me play as long as I could handle the pain.  I played...and I'm still pissed at the doctor.

Love six-man football my one son and I go to at least one game a year in a town close to Lincoln.  And haven’t missed the State Championship in the last 8 years.  It is fun and fast.  Would like to try coaching once before I am totally retired from everything.

Adrame Diongue is here on his visit now

It's tough to get excited about a big man project when players don't stick around at a school long enough to see the fruits of their player development.  Would take him over an empty schollie but this feels like a practice squad recruit.

Agree, but I think in this instance it pays off to be second. He can always leave and go play overseas, but if he commits to us and later wants to leave he needs to get a waiver to play immediately

As much as I think that Diongue won't pan out, he'd be a great get with one of our 2 remaining scholarships just because his ceiling is so high. He blows you out of the water with what he's capable of....which is why he so highly regarded.

Nice to see him put the ball on the floor and make some passing reads in that Princeton offense.

Which is exactly what we need with one of these scholarships, IMO.  Having an athletic 7 footer on the scout team can be very valuable. Mast and Keita going against a 6'6" walk-on in practice does them no good. I do believe Oleg was a valuable piece last year, if for no other reason than he forced Walker to have to maneuver around long arms every day.

I don't know.  Can you persuade a 4* kid to come to your team (in year two of his development) to be a project and a practice squad player?

I've got to believe that playing time has to be an option with a plan in place on how we can and will use him.

Maybe I am completely off base.  Yet, what we hear from most of these kids, post-trip, is how they like the facilities as well Fred's vision for the future.
