I'll be making the drive west from The Ann Arbor area for the game vs MSU. I was good luck last time I went so I'm hoping I can be good luck this time too

  5. Seems like we've started getting a little more exotic with our defenses the past couple of weeks. Switching defenses a lot more than we did earlier in the season. Throwing in more zone, some pressing, along with more common man and pack line defense we've grown accustomed to. Could be a product of the opponent or perhaps they're just getting more comfortable as they get more experience. Or a little of both. I think the move towards being a little more creative and keeping teams guessing is a good strategy for this team.

  6. Turn-overs will kill us against good teams. Almost killed us vs. Penn State. Forcing passes into non-existent passing lanes needs to stop. Basketball IQ of players needs to improve. Hard to do. Shot selection needs to improve. Players are going to have to step up... NOW!!!

I probably should know this but I can't seem to find anything. Outside of the press guide, is there any site on the net that keeps track of history of Basketball programs? I guess specifically, is there anywhere on the net that you can find out a teams record against other schools and what the scores were? This is the first year out of the past 30 that I have yet to pick up a press guide. You can actually download the media guide in PDF form https://admin.xosn.com/pdf9/4015812.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=100 We won 1/1/1921, we lost to them two days later again on the road.

    Missouri

Golly, out of state admission requests down more than 5% due to the out of control students and pusillanimous administration and now this! It's enough to make a Missouri fan's tooth fall out.

    Ed Morrow

So Morrow was overworking in the weight room? Don't we have a strength coach for basketball that has these kids on individual programs? Wouldn't the strength coach know Morrow is lifting to his development detriment? Shouldn't in season lifting be different than off season? I guess this makes me a bit curious on how our basketball strength program works and if there could be some process improvements implemented.

  17. Honestly we both seem to be in the same boat. Them after a big win over PU and us with a few nice blowout wins. We both still believe that we can make something out of this season but that this game is a must win to continue on that path in the right direction. Both of us know the other team is good, but they are not great and they are beatable. Both of us know that this is kind of a must win to continue on the right direction considering THIS season.

  19. Learned so far ? 1 Silly turnovers haven't stopped. (forced bad passes mostly) 2 RT's inconsistencies are a mystery, must step up scoring. 3 Jess really is as good as predicted. She will get better. 4 Defense still needs improvement.... both coaches schemes, player man coverage. We miss Smallwood. 5 Nat will be a team leader/ positive example from here on out 6 Freshman class of 3 has adapted and contributed very quickly..too bad injuries/illness slowed their progress. (don't sleep on top bunk) 7 KC hasn't scored like anticipated, but better as a floor general than expected, and too many bad passes. (95% free throw shooting is stunning, and leads team in steals) 8 Bench depth hasn't always been there to contribute enough points 9 Injuries part of depth problem, + loss of Ostrander as rebounder) 9 Need another consistent 10-12+ pt scorer besides RT, Jess, & Nat (RB43 & Havers aren't far away) 10 Need stronger team rebounding/blocking out 11 Team shows it's overall youth and inexperience many times 12 Esther has begun to contribute well, and knows her role/Connie's schemes. 13 Shooting can be inconsistent 14 The size & no. of our bigs, not particularly bigger than rest of B1G (we played small last year) 15 Havers considerably improved, in most all areas. 16 Connies hair probably is gray...ask her beautician.

  20. I've learned that Coach Yori is an incredibly resilient person. Think back over the past several years: injuries that have resulted in medical red shirts and early departures, disciplinary issues resulting in game suspensions and sometimes dismissal from team, difficult parents resulting in player leaving team and recruit being dismissed, loss of solid coaches, her own medical issue that resulted in extended hospital stay. Then think about what has been accomplished during that time: undefeated regular season, a couple of sweet 16 appearances, Big10 title, some solid recruits, a very bright future. And she has done all this without her hair turning gray!

Excellent detective work. Illini were obviously hung over for the first game. Seems like a quick turnaround for those days. Must have hitched a ride with Lindberg.

  25. I think there's a photo of Pike with his head turned like that. As soon as he started painting the hair I knew it was Piatkowski. Then I saw Pike standing there and it was clear. But I recognized Pike in the image before the painting was even done. So I, for one, would say I think the picture looks like him.

  26. I can see Pike in the painting, but with the hair he gave him, it looked more like Conan O'Brien. The guy has talent though. He painted a guy from memory that he probably had never heard of before getting booked for halftime.

I thought it looked like maybe pike had a stroke or something. Still pretty impressive how he can do that painting so fast.

  30. Here is some information from a Wake Forest article dated in June of 2015: "Corprew is continuing a streak of continued improvement from his junior season. In 16 EYBL games for Boo Williams, he is averaging 15.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.4 steals, while shooting 43% from beyond the arc, and 73% from the charity stripe."

  32. Since this message board, like all others, thrives on unsubstantiated rumor and speculation, let's add this one to the mix: Deshawn Corprew has a high school teammate who is also uncommitted for the 2016 class, according to this report out of Georgia: "there was a twist that was hinted at the very beginning. If Corprew is interested in Georgia, . . . then there is a possibility that Georgia could try to land his high school teammate, Papa N’Diaye, in a tandem deal.." Here is a link to N'Diaye's Rivals page: he is a 6'9" / 215 lb. Rivals four-star Center (ESPN and Scout 3-star PF), with Nebraska listed by Rivals and Scout as having interest. ESPN says Mississippi State has offered.

  36. They say "cocky". I say hopeful. If we as fans went into every game expecting to lose then what is the point of being a fan of that team. Having said that I am a realist and honestly I can realistically see a way that we "can" win this game. Is it likely given our past history on the road? Maybe not. But it won't stop me from believing that we can win every game we go into. Also, if I had to guess 90% of the people of the Illinois message board are already chalking this one up as a win just because we're Nebraska and they're Illinois. So would they like to be the pot or the kettle...

  37. the one thing that was driving me nuts was the inability to cut off the driving lanes----well, that and getting caught flat footed when it came time to rebound. maybe add not boxing out, too. tip of the hat to K. Clark!!! $$$ not sure what to think of the RT situation. like Row6Seat10 states, disappointing. maybe it's me, but, i really have questioned her body language in more than a few games this season. i think she really misses cady, sample, 'T', and jeffries----i wonder if, much of the time, she isn't frustrated with this lineup. she has been labeled as the "leader" of this team and it could be a situation she doesn't fully embrace. i could be way off base, but clearly, something isn't right. whatever it is, i hope it all gets worked out------i am sure we don't need to remind her it's her final season as a husker. we all want her to go out in a good way.

A couple of things I know at the moment. Illinois had a "bye week". They didn't play a game this Tues-Thursday. They've had a week to gameplan for us Students are travelling to this game. Not sure on a head count but we will have a presence there this week.

  39. I went back and found a post from Idaho Husker. I think he thinks Smith should be playing more. Posted 18 November 2013 - 12:41 PM Husker Nation - Congratulations on your 2014 recruiting class. I typically do not comment in forums but because Chandler Smith recently signed with Nebraska I couldn't help myself. I am close to the Smith family and have been watching her play basketball since the 7th grade. ESPN lists her as a wing but she is really a true point guard. She is very unselfish and loves to get her teammates involved which is a testament to her high school basketball success. She led them to a state championship last year and should make another strong run at it this year. She is the type of player that could score 40 points a game but would rather spread the ball around. I think her passing ability and court vision is the best in Washington. Baylor, Arizona State, Gonzaga, Washington State, and Oregon State all wanted her as a point guard so it will be interesting to see how Nebraska uses her. Ultimately, I think she can play anywhere and she has a great attitude to go with that. She will play wherever she can best help her team. Chandler is a great kid and I couldn't be more happier for her to choose Nebraska. Please take care of her Husker Fans, especially all you farmers and ranchers out there - she may need to drive a tractor or ride a horse once and while so she can feel at home!
