Juwan makes 2 of his 7 missed layups we might win that one. Seriously though I’m not sure how we kept that one close

Too similar to the Iowa game. Just throwing it up at the backboard. We also desperately needed him to grab more than 1 defensive rebound tonight.

This was a game we needed Connor to make some shots and unfortunately that didn’t happen.

Fred with a shot at the refs.  Saying the call on Morgan's 4th was a bad call (it was).  I thought just as bad was his 2nd.  He has the ball.  Sticks his behind out, like a player.  The Maryland guy runs into him, and he gets called for the foul.

Morgan was owning the paint against Queen and Reese at the time of his 4th foul.  That really hurt.

Needed to make one defensive stop at the end and couldn't.  Even then had a great look to get the game to 1.

Maryland could be a dangerous team in the tournament.

We were right in it not playing particularly well with Berke out and Brice & Essegian sick.

Guys need to get rested and healthy for Northwestern.  Important road trip.  Get the first one.

Notes from UNL

Juwan Gary led Nebraska with 22 points, his fifth 20-point game this season and eighth of his career.

Brice Williams added 20 points for his fifth straight 20-point game. His five consecutive 20-point game matches the most by a Husker in the Big Ten era (Keisei Tominaga, 2023)

Overall, Williams scored at least 20 points for the 13th time this season. His 13 20-point games have tied Terran Petteway (2014-15) for the most 20-point games in a season since Nebraska joined the Big Ten.

Nebraska made 16-of-17 free throws in the game, finishing with a season-high 94.1 percent from the charity stripe.

Gary and Williams each scored 20 points in the same game for the fourth time this season. Overall, Nebraska has had five games this season when two players scored 20 or more points.

Andrew Morgan had 15 points in the game. That marked his second-highest scoring game of the season, trailing only the 17 points he had at Maryland on Jan. 19. In two games against the Terrapins, Morgan was 12-of-18 from the field and scored 32 points.

Braxton Meah played 18 minutes off the bench, his most action in a Big Ten game this season. Meah scored two points and had four rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot.

Maryland shot 58.5 percent, becoming only the third team to shoot over 50 percent against Nebraska this season.

Ahron Ulis led NU with four assists and in two games against Maryland had a 14-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.

This is the first loss this year, (maybe st Mary’s) that I haven’t been frustrated with our team.

A lot of guys stepped up and played well. If we didn’t get the flu bug we probably win this game. If we were fully healthy I really think we win this game.

i hope Braxton showing up as a good piece of to the puzzle helps us out moving forward. He is never going to be something he’s not, but he can make a real impact

Kent wanted some of Reese's Pieces.  By far, the most immature player in the country.

Actually I don't think he is even the most immature player on his team.   Queen behaves like a toddler on the court.   Not sure I have ever seen a player whine as much.   Then at the end he taunts the crowd like an arrogant little brat.   Extremely talented player but needs to grow up a lot.   If I was his father he would definitely get an earful about behaving that way on the court.    Willard really should step in and coach him to act more mature.   I get that he is a freshman - but again he acts like he is a middle schooler at best.

Reese is not quite as naturally gifted - but is really physical.   I get that he taunts and uses his strength in ways that should not really be allowed.   But that is where his advantage lies on the court and he tries to use that to his benefit.   As long as the officials allow him to play that way - why would he stop.

Again the two are very talented and effective players.    But their behavior is like a Baby and a Bully.   Maybe they each have a little bit of both - but to me Queen in the more obvious Baby with his on court behavior.

Maryland is a very talented team - and played very well tonight.   Particularly given we were playing without Berke we needed several things to happen to win the game:

1.   We needed Maryland to shoot poorly - obviously the opposite happened.  Nearly 60% from the field and not sure what they ended up at from 3 but they were 6 out of 10 at halftime.

2.   We needed a quick whistle because Maryland is much more athletic and physical than we are - and played that way tonight.  Again - kind of the opposite as for most the game the refs really let pretty much everything go - which almost led to brawls a couple times and at least contributed to the rebounding discrepancy.    If Maryland faulters early in the NCAA tournament it will likely be due to them running into refs that will not let them play the way Big 10 refs allow in conference games.

3.   We needed to shoot well from 3.  We did make some unexpected 3's - but Brice was not quite his usual self - and the 0-4 from Connor really hurt (apparently he was one of the flu victims which might explain his off game).

Despite all that we were in the game until the end.   Our effort was good under the circumstances and we did some things (i.e FT shooting) very well to stay in the game.     (FWIW hard to believe we did not win a game where Meah and Morgan were a combined 6-6 from the line - never thought I would see that :)

Well, we showed some fight and toughness out there. We were outmanned and everyone knew it. Knew something was off when both Connor and Brice were in full jumpsuits with hoods on during warmups. Both got IV’s before the game just to get some fluids. Both were fevering and fatigued. I do want to say, Braxton came in and gave us some solid minutes. Has hit his last 5 free throws as well. On to Northwestern
