I needed Texas for $120 in a bracket contest so a bit bummed about them.

If you have to lose money at least it was by texas losing.

Significant

This tournament has been a shot in the arm for me. The play I watched from Nebraska Basketball all season isn't that far from the play I watched in Elite 8. Maybe it's a weird year and it won't happen again, but maybe the transfer portal has been an equalizer and in the next couple years Nebrasketball is one of those crazy  6-10  seeds making noise in the 2nd weekend.

Significant

This is very significant to me.  Most of the high level studs seem to be prima dona's with a "me first" attitude.   This final four seems to signify the importance of team over individuals.   That is the basketball I grew to love.

I think it was the KSU coach who indicated how difficult it was to defend Florida Atlantic because every player was a threat to score.  Nice!

Transfers are so much more important than high school recruits now.  The top to bottom levels of skill and defensive athleticism is crazy in the tournament.  I love it.  I think this will ultimately benefit Nebraska because bluebloods can no longer be what they once were.  Of the sweet sixteen, transfer numbers were:

Bama - 6 (two starters)

SDSU - 5 (top two scorers)

Creighton - 2 (BS 13ppg, 8rbg)

FAU - 5 (3 starters)

Tenn - 5 (1 starter)

KSU - TWELVE (top 9 in minutes are all transfers)

MSU - 3 (2 starters)

Houston - 3

Miami - 3 (all starters)

Xavier - 5 (4 starters)

Texas - 6 (top 6 scorers)

Arkansas - 7 (two starters)

UConn - 4 (PG leads team in assists, steals, and average 10ppg)

Zags - 3 (one starter, two rotational)

UCLA - 0

Princeton - 0

---

Planning for transfers is no longer even remotely the exception or an act of desperation.  It's a proven effective method.

It will be interesting to see how the viewing numbers pan out for this tournament as a whole . . . and particularly for the Final 4.

Will two five seeds, with a four seed and a nine seed, (all having limited notoriety in basketball) bring in more or fewer viewers to the Final Four--or about the same?

And Minnesota still hired Ben Johnson

Ben is in a Free Fall right now & the allure of Coaching in the B1G might be too much for Dutcher to pass up. Especially with USC/UCLA coming onboard after next season.

Isn't Szelc the ref that called the back to back illegal screens vs Minnnesota? I know he called the 1st one on Keisei. And the fans in KC for regionals were less than impressed with John Higgins effort.

I believe you are right.  I note Steroid Man and CJ (lurch) didn't make the cut.
