Excellent question. I think for the first time in Hoiberg's tenure here, the list of needs and must-haves is short and manageable. I think we stand a reasonable chance of finding the pieces we need.

Don't think it is short, at least.  Don't know about the manageable part, but  between the portal and/or Juco, they're gonna have to find guys, and it won't be easy.  We're going to have a lot of turnover, and we need dudes.   Lots of them.  And much better ones.  We're still in 12th place, and our best players aren't returning.

Ya I highly doubt Chucky feels this way. I wouldn’t put too much into what an emotional aunt has to say.

Dude played lights out. Sucks he went somewhere else. But if he was this sensitive, then he'd never make it as a college athlete.

Wish the best for him except when we play him. May his aunt find peace speaking on behalf of someone else and "boo" right back at us. Game sees game.

If our best players can only get us as far as 12th place then will we really miss them?

I love Bando, Derrick and Sam and they will be among my all time favorite Huskers, but to say that they're irreplaceable would be dishonest.  Almost nobody is irreplaceable.  Heck, until a month or so ago most on here were ready to wave goodbye to Tominaga and now Big Ten fans on Reddit are all talking about him and how much they want him to transfer to their school.

You never know who or when the next leader is going to step up and become the player we're really gonna miss when they graduate/transfer.

And Ohio State might as well get rid of Chris Holtmann after this season with their poor performance.*

My take on Chucky, not that it matters is that I thought he was the best player in our state.  Many thought otherwise; but he was the stud of the class.  It would be amazing if he came back home, and he would be embraced by the fans.

But to all the naysayers who are whining about his treatment, welcome to reality.  Chucky is the one who chose his school.  He was the one who chose one of our heated rivals.  And he is a great player for them.

I was at the game, yeah he was booed.  But it was more playful then hurtful.  Nothing further was said or thrown.  The talk in our section was that Chucky was booed out of respect, not hate.

Yeah, if I am a relative I may react like his...but again, the way Chucky played (other than the last possession in regulation) it sure didn't seem to bother him...in fact it may have motivated him.

ALTHOUGH, I could argue that he was so pissed that he failed to follow the designed last play and was going to prove himself to the fans by attempting hero ball.  Just saying maybe it is possible. 🤭

I'm probably alone here but I am tired of ball stopping point guard, so unless Chucky is going to be an off guard I will pass.

You aren't alone, I'm with you on this too.

Still...if he chose to transfer to Nebraska I'd welcome him with open arms.

Well, it’s hard for an opinion to be “dishonest”, so i’d ease up there a little.  Derrick and Sam, and I  have reason to believe Kesei, will be hard to Replace.  Never said they were irreplaceable.  Those were your italicized words, not mine.

Ya, you can take it to the bank

Watched the 2nd half of Michigan @ Wisconsin.  The ditch weasel fan base booed Hunter Dickinson every time he touched the ball.  Wonder if Felicia has fired up her keyboard to bitch out the fan base of the drunken institution her precious nephew decided to attend.

P.S.:  Hunter Dickinson deserves to be booed, but that's beside the point.

Hunter Dickinson is a piece of work…especially for being on  barely a bubble team this year.

That's terrible. Hunter Dickinson has a grandmother who would have celebrated birthdays with him. We see you, Wisconsin. We will judge your entire university and fanbase by the people who playfully booed Hunter Dickinson while he was whatever.

Sallis sounded like the more attainable one.

Yeah, I think he's wrong about Traudt though. Not saying Traudt will end up at Nebraska, but they say he's not a fan of McDermott. Don't think it will be Creighton.

To be fair to Washut, he seemed confident in his Sallis statement and said it was just a guess on Traudt.

I would be surprised if Sallis didn't transfer, but why would Traudt?? He knew what he was stepping into, in a spotlight article a couple weeks ago he seemed pretty confident about his place and future role in the program.

I've watched Hunter play, maybe, 10 minutes over the past two seasons. No one on their board can clearly articulate the reasons he isn't seeing the court. I'm guessing Hunter has not shown the skill development he needed to in order to get significant PT. But that's just speculation because I haven't seen him play much..is a change of scenery all he needs?

Seems as simple as Julian Strawther and Rasir Bolton are elite offensive players relative to Sallis.

Hoiberg & Co. are in a strong recruiting position for replacing Bandoumel, Griesel and Walker.

Each of those players has an unusual role at NU.  And each has succeeded and achieved notoriety, in those roles, well-beyond expectations:

  • Bandoumel as a defensive specialist against the point;
  • Griesel as a big point guard who excels in the paint (like Dalano Banton); and
  • Walker as a point-post.

Given this year's success-through-adversity and given Hoiberg's past and recent history of getting players to the League, any player who sees himself excelling in one of those unusual roles will be chomping at the bit to play in Hoiberg's system.

I haven't watched any of Sallis at Gonzaga, so I have no idea of his current skill set.

If you could choose just one player to transfer to NU next year, would you choose Sallis or Hepburn?

Easily Hepburn. But I'd prefer not to have to go find another Hepburn family rant to show why that's not happening haha
