For more context, it was senior night, they were coming off a huge win, it’s their best season in like 25 years, it’s an on campus arena, and 8-22 UNO out drew them by 1000 fans on their senior night at Baxter…

Right!  Coming off a huge win!

You don’t build attendance overnight at a school like San Jose.  Look where it’s located.   I am not certain Mikes would be  a good fit at Cal if he is presented with that opportunity.

True, but for a school with an enrollment of 35k having one of their best seasons ever and an on campus venue that is pathetic.

Saw a post linking him to a possible Wake Forest opening too

So you are saying there could be a Parker Friedrichsen recruitment part 4?  If there is, I am going to Tulsa and handle this recruitment once and for all since I went to high school with his dad.  😀

It's San Jose. There are a gazillion more "upscale" things to do in an incredibly wealthy city.

Boulder's like that, too, when I went to grad school there. Basketball behind.....skiing.

If he can win for a few seasons in a row, that might change the value of the ticket. Short of that...

Keep in mind there is also a pretty stark difference in general between Power 5 and Group of 5 conference teams when it comes to fan interest.  If Tim was winning 20 games at Cal or Stanford they would see much different levels of fan interest I am sure.

In college, I remember visiting some friends who lived in the Boulder area to go skiing.  You always hear about Denver being a gateway ski city in the winter, and Boulder's not much further away.  Heck, it's actually closer to the mountains (although as I quickly learned, the wrong ones) so I had in mind that the slopes would be like 30-45 minutes away.  LOL.  Boy was I wrong.  I don't know who in the Front Range is in charge of marketing, but they deserve a raise.  Expectation does not at all match reality.  It's a 3 hour drive on I-70 on a weekend, assuming no crashes or complications.  That's a road trip to a different state by Midwestern standards.  Although I shouldn't complain, because Colorado keeps the crowds away from those of us in other states who chose to live in actual ski cities.  My downtown is 10 minutes to the west, and my ski resorts (3 of them) are 25-40 minutes to the east.  Suck on that, Colorado 😝

Their football stadium holds 21k and basketball stadium holds 5k. It's certainly a different scale.

I went skiing once. It was after that experience I realized if God meant for Nebraskans to ski, He would have put cornfields in the mountains.

Yet there's more fans from Colorado State and Nebraska watching this progress than San Jose State fans.

Sadly— I believe this is true.  I think 2-3 comments under that post were from Husker fans.

Congrats to Tim on his MW coach of the year award and Omari Moore on his Player of the Year award.

Very well deserved!
