  1. I have picked her rendition of “I’ll Fly Away” to be played at my funeral. I think her voice sounds like the ringing of a bell it is perfect to me.

  12. REO Speedwagon, or simply REO, is an American rock band from Champaign, Illinois. Formed in 1967, the band cultivated a following during the 1970s and achieved significant commercial success throughout the 1980s. Its best-selling album, Hi Infidelity, contained four US Top 40 hits and sold more than 10 million copies.

  13. Got 3 possessions / chances at the go ahead bucket in the final 30 seconds - can't ask for much more than that. The last 2 shots were good looks, all things considered, by your top 2 players. Probably a little unlucky one of those two didn't drop. But if you want to be an NCAA team, you just can't put yourself in that position to be a little unlucky because of the putrid performance the other 39:30 at home against a team like RU. Disastrous loss.

  14. I would have felt bad for Rutgers if we had won, because they deserved it. We had every chance to win. I don’t understand why Shelly took a 3 when we were only down one. Especially with how poorly she was shooting today. Sometimes this team really has me scratching my head. I really hope White is ok. She’s playing good basketball right now.

  15. That's a pretty accurate line, all things considered. Wouldn't surprise me to see it move to 10 or 11 by tip off. After the miracle comeback Thursday, we're playing with house money Sunday. Hopefully we play relaxed and just let it rip.

    Hake

This is from the UNL Game Day/Game Notes for today's game. Really interesting to see season stats for Hake. "Callin Hake is proving herself as one of the Big Ten’s most improved players from a year ago. The 5-8 sophomore from Victoria, Minn., already owns more points (+10), assists (+27), free throws made (+18), rebounds (+20), steals (+7) and blocks (+1) than all of last season in 18 fewer minutes. She is also shooting 45.8 percent (27-59) from three-point range while averaging 6.9 points per game compared to 4.3 points per game last season."

I don't remember crying in 2004 when the Red Sox finally won after my 50th year of waiting. But after taking congratulatory phone calls from friends and family, I took a long solitary walk down my driveway, thinking about all the time and angst I had expended waiting for a moment which I never thought I would see. I felt something had fundamentally changed in my world view. A lunar eclipse served as the backdrop for my pensive mood. I think a Husker NCAA win might evoke a similar feeling, although there would be another game to worry about. For excellent descriptions of the sensations felt by fans, I recommend the book, "Win it for" by members of the Sons of Sam Horn website.

  29. After a large enough sample size, 22 games, Nebraska is putting together one of its best offensive seasons, in about 30 years or so. Nebraska is averaging 77.4 points on 45% shooting overall, with 36.3% on threes, and 75.1% on FTs. Averaging 9.5 three-makes per game leads the Big Ten, in fact. Those are solid, solid numbers for a tournament quality team. Mast is avg 13.6 ppg, 8.3 rpg & 3.0 apg on 46.3%, 34.3%, 82.2% Brice is avg 13.3 ppg, 5.6 rpg & 2.6 apg on 43.6%, 39.5%, 85.1% (plus 1.0 stl/gm + 0.7 blk/gm) Keisei is avg 13.1 ppg, 1.9 rpg & 1.0 apg on 44.1%, 35.9%, 87.2% (plus 1.0 stl/gm) Juwan is avg 11.5 ppg, 5.7 rpg & 1.2 apg on 51.8%, 31.5%, 64.3% (plus 1.1 stl/gm + 0.9 blk/gm) Wilcher avg's 9.7 ppg, 1.7 rpg & 1.1 apg on 52.6%, 48.3%, 93.3% (plus 0.6 stl/gm) Allick 6.8, 4.9 & 1.4 J-Law 5.9, 3.5 & 2.8 Sam 3.5, 3.0 & 1.5 (plus 1.1 stl/gm) You get the picture, Nebraska has a very well-rounded team. I think this team has the offensive make-up to get things done in March. Time to get it going on the road. GBR

My wife and I have taken the Thursday/Friday of the first weekend of March Madness off for 10 years straight. Always fun to watch the tourney, always ready to go if we make it. Last time we were in it was her match day at UNMC and we rushed down Farnam to watch at Crescent Moon. Emotional roller coaster watching us lose right after learning we’d be moving across the country.

  44. At least this year we have the signature wins over #1 Purdue and #6 Wisconsin. Looking back to that 2017-18 squad, it looks like our best wins were over #14 Minnesota and #23 Michigan, both in Lincoln. We did win four B1G road games that year, though If we can just win two of the remaining five road games (Illinois, Northwestern, Indiana, Ohio State, and Michigan) it would negate the main argument against inviting this team to the dance. Those last three teams shouldn't be nearly as motivated to win as we will be in late February/early March.

  45. I think it depends on your roster, who's returning, how much experience they have, how you did the previous year. For example, we had Keisei, Gary, Lawrence, CJ, and Hoiberg back from a .500 team. I think racking up wins, gaining confidence, seeing what was there from the transfers trumped creating Q1/Q2 opportunities. If everything goes well down the stretch. We make the NCAA tournament, and everyone stays, who can, next year would deserve scheduling Q1/Q2 games. We could return Brice, Gary, Lawrence, CJ, Mast, Sam, and Rice. That's some good experience. We are probably scheduling to get the best seed for the Dance.

It makes sense given that there are plenty of basketball fans who live in Omaha and that it counts as a neutral game despite the fact it would be a home crowd.

  47. We are 55 right now and i think we would be in the dance, if it was called today. There are many ahead of us in this metric that would not be chosen ahead of us. Especially after last night. Yes, being in the 40's would be comforting, but I don't think it is required. And yes, we need Mich St to stay in Quad 1.
