  1. Some good news on Huskers.com. They mention Haiby and Weidner were with the team, when they left this morning. I'm not sure if they will play or not. Guess we'll know Friday.

  3. Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-1) vs Oklahoma Sooners (3-1) ** ESPN Events Invitational Game 1 ** Date: Thursday Nov 20, 2022 Time: 4:00 pm Arena: State Farm Field House, Orlando Broadcast: ESPN Nebraska plays again on Friday, 4:30 if they lose, 7:00 if they win Oklahoma Head Coach: Porter Moser Location: Norman, OKConference: Big 12Nickname: SoonerMascot: Sooner Schooner, Top Daug Last time out: Beat South AlabamaOpening Line: Oklahoma by 5.5 Other: First meeting between the two teams since Nebraska's last year in the Big 12 Both teams have played Arkansas Pine Bluff. The Sooners defeated the Golden Lions 66-58 Doc Sadler was recently hired as a special assistant to the Sooners who were in need of help as one of their assistants resigned mid-season Player to watch: Grant Sherfield The 6'2" Nevada transfer has become an immediate impact player for the Sooners, leading the team in scoring and assists. Player to watch: Tanner Groves The senior center leads the team in rebounds and has been a reliable outside shooter though has slumped to start this season. His brother Luke slots in at the 4. Both were known for taking Kansas to the limit in the NCAA tourney playing for Eastern Washington in 2021. Expect this to be a low scoring affair as both teams defend well without fouling and Oklahoma likely will attempt to grind this game out in the half court. Speaking of grinding, this Nebraska team seems to be working for high quality shots as opposed to jacking up the first available look on offense. Never thought I'd see the day that a Hoiberg team at Nebraska might not lead the conference in pace. It's going to be difficult for Nebraska to score on Oklahoma but they unlike St John's they won't pressure the ball. We'll see how much Blaise Keita can stay on the court against this Sooner squad that is capable of playing 5 out basketball. Their might be chances for transition baskets given how much Oklahoma turns the ball over. Often feels like these holiday tourney teams in these tiny gyms tend to be on the sloppy side. In a low scoring game where Oklahoma doesn't seem capable of overwhelming Nebraska, let's lean into it. Prediction: Nebraska 67 - Oklahoma 63 View full article

  4. That Westside-Gretna game was one for the ages. I've conferred with a fellow board member, and we agree it was maybe the best HS football game we've ever seen. I'm still just marveling at it. Gretna down 13 pts in the 4th quarter and they score two TDs, the last one coming with under 2 minutes left in the game, on the strength of their really tremendous QB who is a Okie State commit. Then, Westside just needs to basically cross midfield because they have probably the best HS kicker to ever come out of Nebraska. The kid had already made kicks of like 26, 42, 46 and 50 yards. The 50 yarder would have been good from 70th and A. I mean it hit high up on the net behind the goal posts, so easy 60 yard range. With 4 seconds left, he has a 45 yard attempt from right between the hashmarks. Never had a doubt. You knew it was good the moment it left his foot. Westside wins 43-41. Mickey called the Westside kicker after the game (which ended at like 10:30 p.m.) and offered him a full ride.

  5. So you are saying that if Tulane loses or UCF loses that Greg McDermott could be the new Football coach after they lose to Nebraska.

Let's stop all the rampant rumors and drama right now and just name Walker as the new football coach.

  12. CJ certainly should not be passing up open 3's. Problem is even though he slimmed down his body he did not get more athletic. Lack of speed makes it difficult for him on both ends.

  18. There will be a winner by game's end. So far, Big Tate is in the lead. Not trying to take away from the game itself, I just figured we needed something to occupy time for two days. Go Big Effin Red!

But if for some reason we make McDermott say "Whoa Pig Sooey" at the press conference he may still back out?

  25. Canada looked good though. Pretty much even on possession with the #2 team in the world, created lots of chances in the box, and earned two PKs (but only one was called, because FIFA). Really they got screwed out of a draw.

  26. Crap, KenPom forgot to add how many players in double digits. His prediction is 3. He's a hard one to get in touch with this time of year. How's his family doing?

  27. Post (Tarleton) Game Press Conference. Coach Amy (at about the 11 min mark) - When we blew our 18 pt lead back to a 5 point game, our leaders stepped up and found ways to make plays (or something to that effect) Kendall Morarity seems to be one of the more unsung players on the team; 8 pts, made 3 of her 4 shots (missing her sole 3-pt attempt, 100% FTs, and one rebound, in 14 mins. 30. Worst winning percentage in Nebraska basketball history. "No way it's the recruits." Top 15 in attendance every year for the last decade. "It's the fault of the fans." "It's hard recruiting people to convince them to be farmers. And corn. And no electricity." Hate to say it, but Creighton seems to be doing just fine. Same with Iowa, Kansas, etc. Blame others when things get tough. That's when true character starts to show. Be bitter. Go enjoy your Thanksgiving, Matt. Maybe you should go find something to be thankful for.

  31. Damn those Husker fans for showing up by the thousands to watch a terrible product on the floor. I haven't mentioned this before but I'm going to take the opportunity now and say some things of which I am RELIABLY informed: Matt is a terrible dude. He undermined the coaches. All of them. Even Hoiberg. All of those great recruits he's so proud of for bringing in? He basically sheltered them from consequences for crappy behavior. If your last name was McGowens and you didn't want to show up for conditioning, Matt would fix it for you. If you were one of Matt's guys and the coaches got on you in practice, Matt would take you aside and tell you you didn't have to do what they said. Matt was the cause of rifts among the assistants. Matt tried to get good people fired. Matt is an awful dude and the night-and-day difference you see in effort and team play this year is directly attributable to him not being here anymore.
