  2. Damn those Husker fans for showing up by the thousands to watch a terrible product on the floor. I haven't mentioned this before but I'm going to take the opportunity now and say some things of which I am RELIABLY informed: Matt is a terrible dude. He undermined the coaches. All of them. Even Hoiberg. All of those great recruits he's so proud of for bringing in? He basically sheltered them from consequences for crappy behavior. If your last name was McGowens and you didn't want to show up for conditioning, Matt would fix it for you. If you were one of Matt's guys and the coaches got on you in practice, Matt would take you aside and tell you you didn't have to do what they said. Matt was the cause of rifts among the assistants. Matt tried to get good people fired. Matt is an awful dude and the night-and-day difference you see in effort and team play this year is directly attributable to him not being here anymore.

  3. That Westside-Gretna game was one for the ages. I've conferred with a fellow board member, and we agree it was maybe the best HS football game we've ever seen. I'm still just marveling at it. Gretna down 13 pts in the 4th quarter and they score two TDs, the last one coming with under 2 minutes left in the game, on the strength of their really tremendous QB who is a Okie State commit. Then, Westside just needs to basically cross midfield because they have probably the best HS kicker to ever come out of Nebraska. The kid had already made kicks of like 26, 42, 46 and 50 yards. The 50 yarder would have been good from 70th and A. I mean it hit high up on the net behind the goal posts, so easy 60 yard range. With 4 seconds left, he has a 45 yard attempt from right between the hashmarks. Never had a doubt. You knew it was good the moment it left his foot. Westside wins 43-41. Mickey called the Westside kicker after the game (which ended at like 10:30 p.m.) and offered him a full ride.

  5. We only committed 6 fouls in that game. That is the fewest allowed since at least the opening of the Devaney Center. The 3 FTs taken by APB were a PBA record for fewest taken by a Nebraska opponent.

  8. I had a meeting with my picker, we are restructuring his contract and buy out. he will now be making $4.36 a game and his buy out will be a two for one coupon for a McRib. Administration was quoted as “ We stand behind, covers mike what is his name again?, fully.”

    Walker's injury

Let's stop all the rampant rumors and drama right now and just name Walker as the new football coach.

What happens first: Derrick plays or we announce a new football coach?

  15. Once Sam is back even for limited minutes I think that will give a big emotional lift to the team. Another opportunity for team defense improvement is for more blocked shots. This should happen once Maggie M. is available. How about a front line of Mendelson, Markowski and Bourne at the 3 position like she played at times last year.

  16. Lol— this is also true. But we’ll know what we need to do against Iran when we get there. It wont be “the first game” it’ll be do or die.

  18. A couple of things...Jaz the last two games is the only player over 30 minutes per game. Allison, Issie, and Alexis are in the mid 20's. Looked at some of the B1G teams and they have minimum 2-3 players over the 30 minute mark. Not saying it would have made a difference in the last two games but when you need more production we need our best group on the floor.

  19. The Groves brothers play on this team. You might remember them as the guys who combined for 58 points against #3 seed Kansas for Eastern Washington in their first round tourney matchup in 2021. Kansas has to come back to pull out a 93-84 win. The Groves brothers are posts who shoot 3 so that could limit the amount of time Blaise plays. Pace will be a factor as Porter Moser is going to want to play slow and in control. Otherwise Nevada PG transfer Grant Sherfield keys the team, leading it in shots taken and assists.

  22. Agree. In the first half he asked out (if that is what tapping your head means) twice.

  23. Also thought WB looked gassed in the second half when he did play. It will take some time for him to be back to 100%

  24. Matt Vrzal was the analyst. Putney did OK but had a major mistake early in saying Caleb Benning was a Husker commit. He hasn't committed anywhere yet.

Shavon Shields shot 82.7% his junior year. Felt like he got to the line a ton too

  26. Bryce hit for 83.1% on a lot of FTs last year, his best day being 10-10. Cary Cochran hit 92.2% of his FTs his senior year though he was playing on the 213th best FT shooting team as John Turek was chucking them up at a 38% rate that year.

  28. Jordan on and Reyna 0 minutes is criminal. Reyna at 80% is miles clear of Morris. Back line should be Ream and Brooks.

  31. Maybe just maybe having Sam operate out of the post and Blaise getting more minutes will be a silver lining to Derrick not being available.

  32. Driving down to the game with my son I had a bad feeling about this game. Gad I was wrong. As others have said, I like this team. It seems as if the entire team is made up of role players. Noticed several times SG didn't bring the ball up the court, however he still ran the offense. Much better job of spacing and passing. Offense looked more organized. When we are in zone, we need to do a better job of rotating to the ball. Hopefully Walker will be back son.

  33. Worst winning percentage in Nebraska basketball history. "No way it's the recruits." Top 15 in attendance every year for the last decade. "It's the fault of the fans." "It's hard recruiting people to convince them to be farmers. And corn. And no electricity." Hate to say it, but Creighton seems to be doing just fine. Same with Iowa, Kansas, etc. Blame others when things get tough. That's when true character starts to show. Be bitter. Go enjoy your Thanksgiving, Matt. Maybe you should go find something to be thankful for.

Derrick is dealing with a Back issue. He was going to play against St John’s but it “locked up” on him again. Wouldn’t surprise me if we saw him sooner rather than later.

  37. This team is good defensively. There is an identity and buy in on that side of the ball. Offensively we have no choice but to keep the ball moving. When it stops so do we. We don’t have the luxury of a guy who can simply win 1v1 matchups. But they are an unselfish bunch and I think they’ll be slightly worse than average on O by mid season. I don’t have any high expectations, but if you play proper defense, you’ll beat the teams you’re supposed to beat like APB.

  40. We also have an abundance of in-state talent and close relationships with coaches across the state. Something you really can't say about our men's programs over the last few decades.
