I have to eat some of my comments made during our 6 game death spiral.  Kudos to Fred and the team for staying resolved and moving ahead.  We were the clutch team down the stretch and Rollie’s 3 was massive.  Hoping Berke is ready by Thursday.  Didn’t realize he had 15 pts. Meah gave us some good minutes in the first half.  Beat Maryland.

Shoot I thought this team was cooked. They fought back. It's great to see. Years of Nebraska Basketball trauma just won't let me ever believe 😂

Great win.

OSU has some dudes.

The big moment was when the Huskers were down 8 and then Gary buried a 3.

What impresses me most, is the fact that we are truly better than OSU.

Brice was unbelievable in final 10 minutes.

I thought Gary was the difference in the second half.

He played excellent on both sides of the ball.

Go Big Red!

I normally get very frustrated with our reluctance to play guys with two fouls in the first half, and also to call timeouts during the run of the game.

Both of those things ended up working out heavily in our favor at the end of the game. Gotta give credit where it is due

They outscored us by about twelve with the two fouls sir approach.  Fortunate not more with meah making a few ft

If you'd have told me Parrish and Mobley would combine for 51` pts and make 5 threes a piece, I wouldn't feel too good about the outcome. Just a good, gritty team win.

That's 5 quad 1 wins now. There are only 13 teams in the country with 6+ quad 1 wins. We have another opportunity on Thursday. I think Ohio State and Maryland are pretty similar, as far as how good they are. Really talented teams that just seem to have something missing. Hopefully Berke is ok.

Big-time win by the Big Red. Brice is nice. Juwan's a dawg. Quietly Sam & Rollie are defending at an extremely high level, which puts a lot of pressure on the other team. If they're not making contested shots, then the opponent is in trouble. Combine that with Brice taking over late, and NU is tough to beat when we have a late lead. Keep stacking dubs.

BK was in A LOT of pain going to the locker room. Hope he is a quick recoverer but I’m not expecting him for a few games unfortunately. Thur will be tough without him. Hopefully we can take advantage of their bigs with our small lineup.

Great win

Notes from UNL

*-Brice Williams posted his fourth straight 20-point game with 24 points and 10 rebounds. It marked his fourth straight 20-point game, matching a career high (last three games of 2023-24 and 2024-25 opener).
*- Williams posted his first double-double of the season, the second of his Nebraska career (at Northwestern last season) and sixth of his college career, as he finished with 24 points and 10 rebounds. His 10 rebounds were a season high, topping his previous season high of eight against Illinois.
*-Nebraska has now won four straight games, including three Quad 1 wins in that stretch (Illinois, at Oregon, Ohio State). NU has now won four of the last five meetings against Ohio State
*-Berke Büyüktuncel reached double figures for the fifth time this season and the first since scoring a career-high 16 points against Oregon State, finishing with 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting. Büyüktuncel tied career bests in 3-pointers (three) and assists (three)
*-Nebraska shot 51.9 percent from the field and has shot over 50 percent in each of the last three games.
*-Braxton Meah has now made his last 11 field goals dating back to Dec. 30. Meah had five points, including 3-of-3 from the foul line, in 7:15 of action.
*-Nebraska’s 11-0 second-half run was NU’s 17th double-figure run of the season.
*-Nebraska improves to 1-5 on Super Bowl Sunday games in program history.

Berke will be fine. I have a pretty good track record on injuries. Remember Gary out for the rest of the year? I said two games max. Who was right? 🙂 I decree and declare Berke plays against Maryland this Thursday. GBR!

The way he landed was very similar to the way Ashduece went down.  I'm hoping low ankle rather than high ankle sprang.  We shall see.

During the 6 game skid… Bryce averaged 4 rebound per game.

During our 4 game streak? 6.75 rebounds per game. That’s with just 2 boards at Washington.

Bryce is All-Big 10 level when he contributes at more than just the scoring level. Also… we win when Bryce contributes in other areas.

A few thoughts prior to the Super Bowl:

- Berke may have had his best game as a Husker.  He is becoming more comfortable and allows us to spread the floor.

- Brice is becoming one of our best players ever.  He is a good defender and rebounder and looks confident at all three levels.  He is $money$ at the free throw line.  And oh yeah, he is a leader!

- Juwan has also elevated his game, plus, he looks like he is having fun.

- Shout out to Braxton.  He coulda moped and mailed it in after he was benched.  Instead he is playing well...although I was screaming at him when he went to the floor and didn't immediately get up, in the first half.  He seemed to realize his error and got up and ran.

- Once again everyone who played, seemed to play well.

Make no mistake, Ohio State is a pretty  darn good team.  They defend, they play aggressively and they can shoot the damn ball.

We won, nuf said!

Well said. I've watched Braxton during his non-playing stint and he was always engaged and cheering. I too was hollering for him to get up when he got knocked down.

Brice gave ball up a couple times with 10 seconds on shot clock. Thought he should've kept ball but like to see him being unselfish. And that is really nit-picking on my part. I feel extremely confident when he shoots but if he's inside 15 feet it's like me and chicken wings...it's going down.

Juwan attacking rim is good thing.

Morgan knocking ball loose and getting steal which led to him getting easy bucket should not go unnoticed.

Big 10 refs=bad. I watched MSU/Oregon & Iowa/Wiscy yesterday and it is downright pitiful. Are these guys doing too many games? Seems like DJ Carstensen is on tv more than Taylor Swift at a Chiefs game.

Big win today.   Thought the guys did a very good job keeping their head and focus in the face of some really atrocious officiating.   Rollie in particular seemed to be a victim.   Two times they called fouls on him when he literally did not even touch the guy at all.   Not sure how Fred keeps his cool when things like that happen - but players also did a good job of playing through it.

Brice is just a stud.   I have moved on from demanding that he be 1st team all-conference.   He really has to be in the running for conference player of the year.    Can't think of anyone more important to their team.    Juwan is our glue guy and we get good contributions from others but Brice is the key this year and he keeps responding despite other teams clearly focusing their defense to stop him.

Thursdays game is huge.   Hope we get a good crowd - and hope Berke can go but even without him we need to find a way to win that one.  Would certainly put us in a good spot if we can get that win.   Especially if we can keep that momentum into the NW game vs a team that should really be down given their injury troubles - and then maybe also steal one at Penn State.

But - one game at a time.   Lets get another big win vs a ranked team Thursday !!

One thing I’ll never understand is how entities like the NFL, NCAA, etc. can’t employ full time officials. Seriously, pay for their travel, food, etc, and pay them enough so that they can focus on learning and getting better in the off season.

You might be onto something doing “too many” games. I remember in mid-December, I saw a guy was on his first off day since the beginning of the year in early November.

I watched a game around  the New Year. And the PBP guys were saying That one f the refs doing  that game hadn't had a day off in 21 days.

For the power conferences especially. How can you not full time employee like 10 3 man crews? That gives them each maybe 2 games a week, plenty of time off to stay fresh and learn, etc.
