I'll come back to this at the end of January, as by then we'll be halfway through big ten play. I'll have a better idea at that point.

So 5-5 through conference play, with a few very good wins sprinkled in. Road struggles are something to note though, specifically today obviously. They need to win 2 road games out of the remaining 5, and should be favorites in all home games except Thursday.

I'll say I feel pretty confident about him being here next year.

Can't wait for the first round road NIT game.

I’ll stick with what I said earlier… NCAAs or bust.  Theres no reason that shouldn’t be achieved at this point either.

The schedule in front of them has been laid out to accomplish that. Find 1-2 road wins out of the 5 remaining, while only dropping Wisconsin at home and they're right there. Winning vs Wisconsin will make the job much easier.

Win on Feb. 1st and catch couple of road dubs, and this is fit to be the team that wins in March Madness, depending on matchups/seeding.

Will 2026 be a make or break year?  If everyone returns for next year, 2026 will be a largely new roster.

I'm skeptical that Nebraska would hire someone better; even given the dismal results from the first three years.  If a change is made and it isn't the best hire NU has ever made, they will be in danger of becoming a perennial bubble team; the bubble for the Big Ten tournament that is.

If you take next year's conference composition and taken that back in time, and limited a conference tournament to 15 teams as planned, Nebraska would most likely have missed the Big Ten tournament 5 to 7 times out of 13 years.

Let's be glad that they can not retroactively relegate NU, based on Freddy's first three years, which were a colossal failure. The past 2, including the current one, have been decent, but a lot of work yet to do!

So maybe we consider 2026 year one again and we can dig up that thread in a few years.  Then we can have him back on the hot seat in 2028-2029 if we are not on the bubble or NCAA tourney in his 3rd year 3 😀

How much of a raise and/or extension is justified for Hoiberg for winning Big Ten Coach of the Year?

@hhcmattmentioned this on Twitter, but there's probably something already in the works for that. His current contact runs to 26-27, probably bump that out two more years I think?

is this the funniest thread ever? i suppose we'd have a few more surprise!" threads around here, too. That first NCAA tourney win's going to rate a statue at this pace. Still can't believe NW beat us to the first win punch.

You're close Fred. Take us in for the landing, baby, yeah!

I just eliminated it altogether! 💯

I've been pushing for a statue of Keisei Tominaga leading NU to the Promised Land. If there's a way to add Freddy & Sammy, that'd be cool with me. LET'S DO THIS, BIG RED!!!

oops, someone needs to learn how to resize here.....help?! heh

Oh, forgot to mention, NW... yeah, in their first freakin' NCAA appearance they slop out with a first-time dub. Sheesh Louise!! Nebrasketball has suffered all these heart-breakin' defeats and NW does it on the first damn try. Man, that sucked when it happened, but now NW is a fairly regular attendee to the basketball conference of sufficiency known as March Madness. And, our NU having had 1 appearance in 25 years, it's felt like Moses in the wilderness, just need Keisei Tominaga to take us to the Promised Land. LET'S DO THIS, BIG RED!!

I was referencing his re-written contract for the mysterious metrics that Trev tied to his salary.

For Frost, those metrics were in writing.  For Hoiberg, there were no metrics written down. Safe to say, he met them.
