I’m guessing if we were 10-2 right now there wouldn’t be a lot of discussion regarding Fred’s court side demeanor, his level of “energy” or the sincere concerns for his health…

Me too, as I am guessing he wouldn't be lacking it.

I, personally, would have given him a 10 year extension after 2014.

Yikes.  That would have been dangerous, especially when obvious(in hindsight) how important Smith was to that squad.  Hard to imagine after that Wisconsin game that year we are where we are.  Bummer he couldn't run with the momentum from that.

Bummer his ADs cut his nuts off, we lost Kenya and recruiting, and it was over.

Of course not. But when you're 5-7 when you're supposed to be at worst, 9-3 after the last two years, everything gets overly scrutinized

Exactly, it’s REAL easy to pile on now. If you have concerns about issues that don’t amount to squat when you’re winning, then why bring them up now?

This is Craig Smith's record so far at Utah.  Let's not make him out to be more than he is.  By the way Missouri is easily and objectively worse than we are:

He's won everywhere he's been as an assistant or a head coach.  Not sure what he does in Utah but I don't think one loss in Missouri means more than the other 2 decades of results.

Fair enough, it is just his first year there, but it looks an awful lot like a typical start to a Tim Miles season at Nebraska.

Thinking highly of Smith doesn't diminish the legacy of Miles.  If anything, Miles' ability to surround himself with good people seems like a trait to be celebrated, not discounted.

Smith turned South Dakota around quickly.  He then turned Utah State around immediately, winning the Conference in his first season in Logan.  He's highly respected out here in the Beehive State.  Most local pundits were happy to keep him in the state and think it's only a matter of time before he gets the Utes rolling.  I wouldn't be so quick to judge a Year One rebuild, particularly if your primary complaint is a road loss at a Power 5 school.

I blame Ryan Anderson for all of this. I sentence him to having to run the stairs at the Devaney yet again and having his coach forget he had him do so and then immediately throwing him into 5 on 5s full court and chewing him out for dragging.

I would do a lot of things for a Ryan Anderson level shooter right now.

Anderson was a baller.  One of my favorite Huskers of the last 20 years.  I’m not sure he’s even shoot well with this offense

I completely agree with this - never thought Ryan Anderson got near enough props. One of my all time favorites.
