I agree with Merlin that the most likely explanation is TA's disappointment with the leadership situation at UNL. But i feel it was his responsibility - after having signed a multi year contract - to be a pillar of stability. To stabilize the programs from his position on down. His not having done that .... well, for me I have never in my life been more disappointed in the decision of a public official. Not that I ever knew TA personally, and not that my opinion matters, I feel that I have never been more wrong in judging the character of a public official. We don't know that this part is true, so I will say "if true" his failure to alert anyone one in the department - not his top aides nor his coaches - that this was a possibility and to let them (and all fans) get first wind of this only via a leak from the Texas media .... and then to notify all the people who supported him only via e-mail .... well the most apt adjectives that come to mind for me are profane. So I will just say "cold blooded".

Put me in the camp of a PSU team on its third late evening game in 3 days. IU seriously thinks they have a shot at dancing and their 5* athletes are still 5*. They’ve looked really good at times. For PSU, Baldwin played 39 minutes last night and Hicks 35. Two other starters played 29 and 27. They very well could have a few guys with 60+ minutes since Wednesday and we’d be fresh. It’s close and I’d feel good about either draw. Because of that, I’m taking the team with more minutes on their legs.

One of the many things that ticks me off about the whole thing is the timing. Especially for Men's and Women's BB. Both programs doing well right now and just before the men's Big Ten Tourney. It just sucks all the air out of the room. Which is self centered bullshit on his part.

Agree with a lof things previously said here. After a day to reflect, it's really disappointing he chose to leave. Everyone has thier own ideas what happened to get him to jump ship. Because he basically says the admin wasn't in place. What is said in public statements usually are "cover tracks" for smoothing the transition out in this case. Just like in business, politics, athletic coaches, AD's etc etc It is seemingly, with no warning... "out of the blue". He's the AD, one of the highest ranking (and paid) positions at the university. He just got a huge raise to $1,700,000 about 8 months ago. The school made him one of the highest paid AD's in the country. He would get another $500,000 next year. He's been given everything he's ask for, and maybe more. He's was still going to get paid even without a University President in place. In some ways it would seem to be a responsibility of a leader of the university to help resolve issues, and not bail out if the going gets a bit sticky. Also, maybe he wasn't going to get his way in resolving the issues. A clash of headstrong personalities? So you take your ball and go home? Just maybe....he wasn't going to get his way ?? It's just so disappointing to have a former Husker All American, finally get his dream job, so he said, and leaves after a relatively short stent here. And leaving the way did is not good conduct. for lack of a better word.

Yes! Yes, Yes, YES!! He is a skilled, talented, experienced genius as a VB coach. Perhaps he has, or could develop, abilities as an administrator or CEO. But it's a huge "maybe". His experience is in recruiting/coaching/mentoring/motivating and even when necessary disciplining 18-22 year old student athletes and a small staff. In a single program. And at two institutions. And he has been as successful as anyone at it. But does that portend an ability to preside over and apply those skills to a range of personnel and programs that are 10, 12, 15, or 20 times larger than the VB program? And, for lack of better words, to supervise and direct the work of adult coaches all of whom have had (lesser but still significant) successes of their own? And who have done so in a variety of other institutions? "The Peter Principle" describes and explains a phenomenon that occurs in virtually all areas of employment. And it explains one reason why things go wrong. It occurs when individuals demonstrate skill and ability at one position such that they are promoted to a higher position - at which they demonstrate such skill and ability that they rise to an even higher position. And so on. Until they reach a level at which they cannot continue to succeed. And there they stay. under matched to their responsibilities and no longer totally competent. They seldom go back down a rung. I like JC right where he is.

Here’s our updated team sheet heading into the B1G tournament. Peep those result based metrics which align with the 6-7 seed range. Our predictives still align with the 8-9 seed range however. Non-Con SOS has improved from about 325ish to under 300 now!

Lunardi thinks we will be sent to the East region, Katz to the West and CBS Sports to the Midwestern region. Which probably means we will go to the South.

You need to add the 100's of support staff that are not ticketed, but are present at the game. LPD, security, ushers, media, concessions and so forth.

From reading the thread over on the mens side of thing's. It seems aTm is about the same pay as what Trev makes here.

Yeah, I don't have a solution but I'm all for "rewarding" teams who schedule tougher games. Or maybe phrased a bit differently, penalizing those teams less for a loss to much stronger opponents. Otherwise you're just incentivizing teams to play against 300+ level opponents.
