Pretty sure Allison was taken to the ER. Looked like a nasty injury including her eyelid. Sam didn't slip in my view, rather, it appears her knee buckled. Briefly talked to the Mendelson's. Great people. Dare I say, pretty big basketball fans. I believe mom said both of them played. Tarleton was both scrappy and physical. Their backcourt was troublesome. Their bigs, not so much.

Thought Markowski played her tail off. Absolutely put in work when the game was in doubt.

Final Stats: Huskers Win it: 71-53 No Markowski; No Win! (24-18-2) especially after the 3rd Qtr slump when it was a 5 Point game. Happily Jaz and Issie found their range and finished strong. Could have been a downer after losing Allison & Sam.

Tarleton exposed our lack of perimeter quickness and were a scrappy bunch. We had a difficult time executing offense against them in long stretches. Didn’t seem to play with much confidence or effort. Injuries to Weidner and Sam are very damaging to this team. If we don’t knock down a better percentage of threes then we are in trouble. After viewing tonight it’s not surprising we couldn’t hang with Drake and Creighton.

That Westside-Gretna game was one for the ages. I've conferred with a fellow board member, and we agree it was maybe the best HS football game we've ever seen. I'm still just marveling at it. Gretna down 13 pts in the 4th quarter and they score two TDs, the last one coming with under 2 minutes left in the game, on the strength of their really tremendous QB who is a Okie State commit. Then, Westside just needs to basically cross midfield because they have probably the best HS kicker to ever come out of Nebraska. The kid had already made kicks of like 26, 42, 46 and 50 yards. The 50 yarder would have been good from 70th and A. I mean it hit high up on the net behind the goal posts, so easy 60 yard range. With 4 seconds left, he has a 45 yard attempt from right between the hashmarks. Never had a doubt. You knew it was good the moment it left his foot. Westside wins 43-41. Mickey called the Westside kicker after the game (which ended at like 10:30 p.m.) and offered him a full ride.

Once Sam is back even for limited minutes I think that will give a big emotional lift to the team. Another opportunity for team defense improvement is for more blocked shots. This should happen once Maggie M. is available. How about a front line of Mendelson, Markowski and Bourne at the 3 position like she played at times last year.

Yeah -- not a good game for shooting percentage from the floor. But he played 36 minutes on an excellent team -- the next two highest-minutes players were at 28 minutes each. And he got to the free throw line, hitting 9 of 9.

Damn those Husker fans for showing up by the thousands to watch a terrible product on the floor. I haven't mentioned this before but I'm going to take the opportunity now and say some things of which I am RELIABLY informed: Matt is a terrible dude. He undermined the coaches. All of them. Even Hoiberg. All of those great recruits he's so proud of for bringing in? He basically sheltered them from consequences for crappy behavior. If your last name was McGowens and you didn't want to show up for conditioning, Matt would fix it for you. If you were one of Matt's guys and the coaches got on you in practice, Matt would take you aside and tell you you didn't have to do what they said. Matt was the cause of rifts among the assistants. Matt tried to get good people fired. Matt is an awful dude and the night-and-day difference you see in effort and team play this year is directly attributable to him not being here anymore.

For all those people bagging on Wilhelm Breidenbach, I'd just like to remind you that Adrian Martinez has 6 TD passes to only 1 INT this year. And he's the starting QB for a top 20 FB team. Sometimes the way the tools perform is the result of the carpenter using them. I'd also like to remind y'all that, in terms of game experience, he's essentially a first-semester freshman. I don't know about top 50 recruits. But I'd say he was certainly worthy of Rivals 150 inclusion. Go easy on my man.

This year is different, everyone is being held accountable, blah, blah, blah ... Gary is a career 18% shooter on 3s. Let that sink in. And yet he took 5 3s last night. He's third on the team in 3pt attempts. He should never launch a 3 again this year, except at the end of the shot clock. How in the world can this team turn it around when the coach is oblivious to what is going on or sees it and refuses to change it?

U gotta be kidding me. Most of our players can’t shoot or dribble. We can’t shoot free throws. We gave up 21 offensive rebounds. No handles. Offensive “scheme” still involves lots of one on one, dribbling, and piss poor ball movement. Trev should make Fred hide in a dark office and watch film of Creighton. It’s called ball movement. As in, have some. This can’t end soon enough.
