  1. "I'm here for the long haul. You're stuck with me," Tim Miles said. I assume he dropped the microphone and walked off the stage after this.

    Harriman...

Ouch. I guess we are not very intelligent about hoops because we've never had a reason to follow. It's always interesting to see what other fanbases' opinions are. Eh...someone took a crack at NM hoops above earlier as well. Honestly if you read enough team forums you find the same range of guys with the same range of opinions...the only difference is which team they root for. I'm happy that the admin on the site was sharp enough to find the proper basketball message board instead of linking to a thread on a football centric board. +1

    Harriman...

I don't blame him for making the move one iota really. Being an assistant coach in college basketball and moving up the ranks to head coach is a brutal grind. The competition is so incredibly fierce, one sometimes wonders why coaches would want to get involved in the first place. There was an article a year or so back (in Grantland, maybe) about what it takes to be an assistant coach. Opens one's eyes a bit after reading it. So, for coach Harriman to get the opportunity to be associate head coach - particularly at a place like UNM you just don't pass that opportunity up. No matter HOW loyal and gracious the fans have been to him and his family. Keep in mind that the Harrimans had the same bond with the players and fans at Saint Louis too, and ONLY made the move to Nebraska because Avery was in remission at the time. We were excited for them at the time. We should be excited for them now.

As you can see by my username, I'm a lobo fan who lives in Omaha. Harriman to New Mexico actually makes a lot a sense if your a New Mexico fan. New Mexico has a ton of history when it comes to recruiting Australia beginning with Luc Longley. New Mexico also picked up Cameron Bairstow who is on the Chicago Bulls roster and Hugh Greenwood also from Australia. New Mexico is so connected to Australia that they played the Australian national anthem on senior night this past season. New Mexico is now going hard after 5-star Australian recruit Isaac Humphries. I'm sure hiring Harriman is another angle to get Humphries to sign with New Mexico.

    I hate to say it

Well, Dave, all I can say is maybe I know too much that I can't say because, coming from me, it would just be rumor and hearsay. So let's just say we're better off with some of the recent changes in player personnel and leave it at that. Vooch was a reach but with short time to find bodies, I'm not going to criticize. Biggs wanted so bad to be here and was a credible recruit. He just needed to go. No argument. Hawkins: Best we could find in a short recruiting cycle; not good enough to stay. Petteway and Pitchford: Two players without whom we don't reach the NCAA tourney. Landing them was good. Petteway has legitimate professional aspirations; Walt had probably worn out his welcome; and the two probably couldn't have co-existed here another season anyway. Smith. was. O. K. Not as good as he thought he was. And if that's how he wants to be, I'd rather take a chance on Bakari. So, there's the six. Not losing sleep over losing any of them. Wish them all well. None were unjustifiable reaches as recruits. All were worthy of the offers they received when we brought them in, given the attendant circumstances at the time. And a few of them performed well beyond what we should have expected for the resumes they had at the time we brought them in. But the time had arrived for each and every one of them to move on when they did, and sometimes not as a matter of their choosing. That's what I meant by "name those 6 players" and you won't feel so bad.

I hear ya and I'm not going to lecture how one should feel, but I think loyalty should be a two way street. If we support him and truly want what is best for him and his family, then I for one am happy for them and thank them for their time spent here at Nebraska. I wish them well and will be praying for Avery. Now let's go get a bulldog recruiter.

New Mexico offers a better basketball program than NU historically, a local medical school, and a pay raise. Seems like a rational choice for the Harrimans and we can only wish them the best with this move. However, that Chilean fast food chicken place did go out of business down there I understand.

I bet he had to put his phone on silent to eat dinner. Hard to spin? We hire ambitious guys who other people want and are willing to outpay us for. There are a lot worse problems to have with your coaching staff. We've got our stability/head coach type hire in Molinari (who also happens to be a pretty good Illinois recruiter) No doubt we're on the look out for a guy (assuming we don't already have him) that can recruit in a section of the country/world we hope to tap into. You sound like you need to talk this over with me over a beer before a baseball game One would have to look no further than the extensive list of D-1 head coaches that came from the Miles coaching tree to put into proper perspective the bolded part of your post, dimes. It is a pretty long list (and one could technically add Harriman to this list now, I suppose) so this is spot on, IMO. IIRC, it's a longer list than any other B1G coach including Izzo and Matta even. Now it's up to Miles to find the next D-1 head coach to add to his staff. Go get 'em Tim!

  24. Just a hunch but I'd say the timing more than anything. The coaching carousel has spun down quite a bit. I guess this also answers the question in the McVeigh thread. If Miles didn't know until yesterday then I'm guessing McVeigh didn't have any idea either.

  28. Here's another chance at a serviceable big. That's all we need. Get in there, push people around, create space and rebound. And hey, if we throw you the ball catch it and put it in off the glass. Or just flush the damn thing. There should be big guys out there who want a chance like this. Play in the big ten. Minutes galore. If this guy passes then I'm gonna really start to wonder what is going on.

  29. And if he can catch a pass he is a step ahead of the last big we had transfer in.

  30. Unless there is an unknown prospect out there that we haven't heard of yet...this kid is our best option IMO. At the very least he will provide depth and rebounding help.

    2015 Transfer List

Believe me, it's not sour grapes at all. He's a great talent and has the potential for great things. Yes we would be pretty excited to have him. I agree. He very well may take Creighton to the promised land. He may also never play a game there. He has had some pretty serious transgressions at KSU and didn't seem to be able keep himself out of trouble in Manhattan. In KC, there has been plenty of talk about him, most of it not good over the last year. It reminds me a lot of Jaron Boone's senior year actually. Weed has the ability to be pretty destructive for a guy's career (not always, but it happens) and it's kind of sad to see it happen. So, yes, my position stands. I'm not convinced he's worth the risk, I PERSONALLY would have the same concerns if he was a Husker right now.

The last thing we need is another assistant moving on next year. A little stability might be important at some point. The program is in disarray already. Another departure wouldn't help much with that. Plus, most think Molinari provides "a solid mind" on the bench, and that bench coaching would be his strength. Who out there is going to take this job who has more experience in that regard? And what possible evidence do you have the Harriman (or Molinari, for that matter) is responsible for the offensive deficiencies? McVeigh isn't going anywhere. I hope Miles can hire someone with as much or more game than Harriman, but it won't be easy.

We we poor and they were $110 back then. Best Shoes ever No this is the greatest shoe ever. Two pair of socks, the inner sock against your skin was inside out somthe insides took the friction between the socks. Also Vaseline your feet every game and practice to keep down the blisters. Chuck's are cool for walking around... not so sure about the 'sole' procedure needed to hoop in 'em.
