Hopefully the disappointment of these close losses this year will make this team hungry next year to learn how to finish these types of games. We're really not too far off from having 20 wins. Glad to see us fight back and not give up. Definitely going to miss Shavon next year.

We need to find a way to start winning these close games.  It would give us confidence. We have found ways to lose.  We have fouled with under 10 seconds the last 2 games, one with a 2 point lead, and the other when we were tied.

We let a team that makes 6 3's a game and shoots 29%, make 11 3's, at a 44% rate.

We took too long to get going.  Got down 18 with 14 minutes to go in the game.  We started pressing and trapping, forcing turnovers and got back in the game.

We played very poorly on the offensive end in the 1st half.  McVeigh struggled, taking some dumb shots.

It was nice to see us shoot 10 more free throws than our opponent.  Should have had more attempts.

Tai played extremely well down the stretch, defensively.  Had a pretty good line, 7 pts, 6 reb, 4 ast, 3 stl.

Too deep a hole to dig ourselves out of. Proud of the guys for making it close.

Little Engine that could mantra. Good to see Shields play good need him and White to both be playing at a high level in two weeks.

Notes

*-Tai Webster made his first Big Ten start of 2015-16, as Glynn Watson Jr. had been under the weather. Webster finished with seven points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
*-Ed Morrow Jr. finished with a career-high four blocked shots in his first game since Feb. 6. Morrow’s previous high was three against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Nov. 24
. Morrow finished with two rebounds and four blocked shots in 12 minutes.
*-Shields now has seven 20-point games on the season following his 25-point effort.0

Is there much hope for next year?  Will Gill actually be an upgrade from Shields?  Who is going to take Benny Parker's minutes?  Are the young players going to improve enough incrementally for NU to advance in the conference standings?  Are the two incoming freshman difference makers?  I say this not to be critical.  Just wondering.

I'm afraid at this time next year we will be talking about the same issues. It's really hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel at this point.

My take is yes.  Especially the question about improvement from the young players.  I think you will see significant improvement from Jacobson, Morrow, McVeigh, and Watson.  Possibly Hammond although tonight didn't give one much hope.  Continued improvement from Tai although he doesn't fit the category.   So yeah, I have a lot of hope for next year;

Gill is a guard instead of a forward. One way to think of this is Watson-Gill-White-McVeigh-(Post Player). All of a sudden we have an offense with at least 4 guys who can shoot and/or score. The offense this year on average is the most efficient we've run here and while we're replacing a heavy usage guy like Shields at no point has he ever been a highly efficient scorer.

They're getting a lot of experience. I'd like to look at the best games for each one and expect them to put together more of those on a consistent basis.

Are the two incoming freshman difference makers?

Let's hope so and let's hope they're not the only guys coming.

Damn, that was one game that was pissed away in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half yet clawed back into it late. Kudos to Nebrasketball for never giving up, but that ending sucked. Senior Night in Lincoln better be lit. Shavon & Benny deserve a dub vs those Boiled eggs. And then payback vs the eggheads at NW.
