on the other hand, A&Ms as good an opponent to break the streak on as any and the broadcasters will get plenty of fodder for canmera closeups off Trev looking confused as to who to root for...

He won’t be confused

The good: they don’t shoot the 3 well and the don’t defend the 3 well.

The bad: they offensive rebound well and they have a “dude,” which is my biggest fear. Our defense is not built to stop “1 guy” who’s going off. Hopefully they can add in some adjustments this week.

Almost Rutgers-like in their ability to miss and rebound those misses.

B1G game times:

  • Thur 11:15 am - Mich St - Missi St
  • Thur 2:10 pm - Illinois - Morehead St
  • Fri 11:15 am - N'western - FAU
  • Fri 5:50 pm - NU - TAM
  • Fri 6:25 pm - Pur - vs 16 seed
  • Fri 8:40 pm - Wisconsin - JMU

Omaha games Thursday:

  • 11:40 BYU-Duquesne
  • 2:10 Illinois-Morehead St
  • 6:35 Iowa St-South Dakota St
  • 9:05 Drake-Washington St

Omaha is certainly fan friendly for several teams.  BYU always has to play Thursday-Saturday so that’s a factor in getting to Omaha.

How much apiece are tickets now?

I was originally looking at Gametime and lower bowl tickets were $200+.  Other ticket sites look they might be cheaper.

So it sounds like if we can clamp down on their iso 1:1 game and rebound ok, we’ll be fine.  Provided our offense travels.  That the down and dirty?

Yep.  But they have 3-4 guys who can really get buckets in isolation and that’s their identity so they’re no joke.  They want to spread teams out and go to work.  They’ll be licking their chops based on the tape from the second half against Illinois.  I’m not sure we could have had a team prepare us better for this game.  If we want to beat them, we just need to watch the second half of the game we just played and not do that.

They fly around and overplay on defense so I’m guessing we’ll get some easy buckets at the rim and wide open threes.  It’s all going to come down to finishing defensive possessions and rebounding.

The braketologists talked about TAM being a tough match up for Houston in the second round because they are so athletic and board the ball so well.  Two traits I don't like to see in a Nebraska opponent.

The trait I do like? Being overlooked. I dare A&M to do it.

Texas A&M came into the tourney last season winning 17 of their last 20 after a slow start and got smoked by a Penn State team that could shoot from the outside.  We certainly can score inside but this team is often times made to live or die from the outside....and it lives a heck of a lot better against pack the paint type teams that run out traditional type bigs.

I can't guarantee a win but this really is the type of team we're geared to beat. Thanks Trev?

It won't be hard to figure out where the baseball team will go if they can make a Regional.

To play A&M at Hawks Field in Lincoln, NE. That's what I assume with the Rob Childress angle....

I actually think the Omaha bracket is pretty solid basketball teams. There is nothing sexy about matchups, but I think the games will be enjoyable to watch for a diehard hoops fan.... such as myself. ✊

FWIW, I think A&M’s coaches are going to be miserable prepping for us this week.  We are worse for them than they are for us.  We are a scary matchup nightmare.

Yes, and then NU vs Houston could be that x2. Cougs just got housed by ISU 69-41. Let's dare to dream. GBR Always.

The media loves this Wade Taylor fella. Preseason SEC POY. He shoots a whopping 36% from the field and 31% from three and turns the ball over 3 times a game. Their guards looked great in the SEC tourney because Kentucky doesn’t play any amount of defense. Our team defense could/should cause them problems. Their backcourt will combine for a lot of points, just make it tough on them and make sure they do it inefficiently. If Taylor uses up about 30 possessions to get his 20 points that’s fine by me. We’re gonna have to secure defensive rebounds for sure.

That's music to my ears. Play solid D, rebound effectively, shot relatively decent, and this is a B1G Red victory party by Friday's darkness. GONNA BE A PART-TAYYY!!!
