Very good win against a talented team with solid contributions from most who played. Glad that Diop and Rice played meaningful minutes and I hope that HCFH continues to find ways to get them on the court.

I am a little surprised that there hasn't been more made of Izzo's decision to not try to extend the game with a 7 point deficit with just over 20 seconds on the clock. I was stunned he did this as there was plenty of time to try for a steal and at a minimum put us at the line at least one more time if they didn't force a turnover. Was rather strange IMO.

I praised Izzo for not turning the last 25 seconds into a foul fest.  Too many coaches try for the impossible and it makes a mockery of the game.

I get it, especially when the outcome is no longer in doubt, but that wasn't the case here. If I'm a player for MSU, I'm like Coach, WTF??

Yeah. And we were up 7 with the ball and a fleet of good FT shooters on the floor. So, a foul probably puts us up 9 with 22 seconds to play. And then they have a 35% chance +/- to nail a 3 with maybe 15 seconds left and cut it to 6?

Yeah, I agree with Izzo. Just let the game end.

I think part of the decision nowadays comes down to whether it is worth it to potentially hurt your MOV metric by fouling for a very small chance to win the game.

What if they stole the inbounds pass and hit a 3, maybe burning 5 seconds? There down 4. Pressure us again into another turnover and score again and it's a one possession game with maybe 8-10 seconds left. We've all seen crazy stuff like this happen over the years so again, I was stunned when he just told his players to back off with so much time on the clock. Glad he did, but wasn't something I was expecting. I'm pretty sure if the situation was reversed and we were down seven and let the clock run out with 22 seconds left, fans would have been pissed. On to K-State.

I would have went for the steal but then not foul but either way the chances were less than 1%. That last completely unforced turnover kind of killed Izzy’s spirit I think.

Just learned that MSU freshman Jeremy Fears was shot while home for Christmas break.  The incident is not life-threatening; but tragic nonetheless.   I believe it was a leg injury and he did undergo surgery.

I wish him the best with his recovery.
