Actually, I'll go a step further. If you are under contract with 1890, you should not wear the colors or logo associated with ANY other program in public, whether you're at an NU event or not. And, if you're at an NU event, you ought to have to wear Nebraska logo gear. Period.

Should NEVER have a current Husker athlete wearing the other team's gear at a Husker athletic event. Absolutely never. No excuse for it whatsoever. If they do it, it needs to be in their contract that you pull their NIL funding. Period.

Who was this?

1890 is paying you to establish a Husker brand across all sports and you undercut those efforts if you don't maintain some brand loyalty.

Do you all remember I think it was probably the '96 Olympics, but anyway Shaq had a deal with Reebok, and the NBA had a deal with whoever, and the Olympics had a deal with someone else, and there was a real controversy about whose gear they would wear in Olympic team photos. And Shaq couldn't wear his shoes and they had to hide logos and stuff.

It was a big deal.

This should be a big deal, too.

Utah was often sidelined by UCLA when the tourney was truly geographic.  Utah has a proud basketball history.  Basketball is important there.  Nebraska needs to make Basketball important.

Trev Alberts is not the AD Nebraska needs to make basketball important. Combine Trev in the AD chair with the Peed family having the control they do over NIL, and basketball at Nebraska is not in a great spot.

I was about to post something to this effect.  Competing in the Big 12 in hoops is quite a lot more prestigious at this point than the Big Ten, so it's not a given that a Big 12 coach would leave for a job in the Big Ten unless there was stupid money involved.  Which, at Minnesota, is not likely.

A Big Ten conference school has a lot more money to offer than a Big 12 school at this point.

Unfortunately there is little incentive to make basketball priority ... yet again. NIL money isn't always some giveaway, it's often an investment business-wise. I don't think the business brokers want to divert much money away from football.

Minnesota could be a great job with the right coach. Unbelievable how much instate talent is available, but they've had trouble keeping it at home. Jalen Suggs and Chet Holmgren, just to mention a couple of recents. About 4 million in the Twin Cities, and basketball is a big deal in the smaller communities.

Also, only one other D1 school instate is Summit League's St. Thomas. Think about that for a minute. We have 3, with about one third of the population (5.7m vs. 1.9m). Look out if they hire Niko.

Maybe have some chill so that their uber-children pick DONU

Good point. We should allow our brand to be undercut by people on our own payroll so that, in the off chance these two reproduce, in 25 years we might be in the running to recruit their spawn. Because it's unlikely they'd push their kids toward Creighton or wherever else. As student-athletes they both seem really loyal to DONU; why wouldn't they push their potential future children to go here as well?

The image is NSFYS (not safe for your soul).... I do not recommend it lol. It's Ally Batenhorst wearing a Creighton shirt while gently embracing Baylor Scheierman after the Nebraska-Creighton game.

3 things

1. NIL is specifically stated that it cannot come directly from the school, so I'm  not sure can restrict logo wearing

2. Batenhorst was a bench player to start the season, probably doesn't have much of an NIL deal

3. She's like 21 and that's her boyfriend, so of course she's wearing his gear.

Also forgot, Baylor has been in red on multiple occasions watching her, so it events out

I'm guessing you meant to quote Norm for the NIL thoughts, but regarding #3, Baylor hasn't been wearing Husker gear at volleyball games.

He was at the elite 8 game.

They operate with personal services contracts as 1099 contract employees of the Collective.  So such a provision could easily be put in the contract.

Batenhorst actually has a good NIL deal.  Did you see her full size cutout in the airport before the season?

There is a baseline volleyball nil. Which, garanted pretty much no one else has. But she didn't get much if any beyond that.
