Looks like the preseason predictions (last place, yet again) are going to be correct. I have no idea what more Alberts needs to see in order to put an end to this catastrophe. The university is hemorrhaging money and all they get for it is national humiliation year after year. I would surmise any of the people who post on this forum would be summarily fired if they were so consistently awful in their chosen occupations, yet Hoiberg remains on the sidelines. What will it take?

Imagine making this kind of money and producing garbage year after year. The team is as befuddled as Frost's were. No identity or execution- bad recruiting (and getting worse....).

When Alberts does the inevitable, Hoiberg will take his place in the history books as the statistically the worst coach in a Power Six conference in NCAA history with a four year minimum. I'm not sure any Division One school has ever had one coach with a lower winning percentage than Hoiberg, although the official records must be sorted through again to make sure. Now that is saying something.

Now let's see if the baseball team can extend the streak in major men's sports....

A turnaround like this has never been seen before.

Season Team Overall Conference Standing Postseason
Iowa State Cyclones (Big 12 Conference) (2010–2015)
2010–11 Iowa State 16–16 3–13 12th
2011–12 Iowa State 23–11 12–6 T–3rd NCAA Division I Round of 32
2012–13 Iowa State 23–12 11–7 T–4th NCAA Division I Round of 32
2013–14 Iowa State 28–8 11–7 T–3rd NCAA Division I Sweet 16
2014–15 Iowa State 25–9 12–6 T–2nd NCAA Division I Round of 64
Iowa State: 115–56 (.673) 49–39 (.557)
Nebraska Cornhuskers (Big Ten Conference) (2019–present)
2019–20 Nebraska 7–25 2–18 14th
2020–21 Nebraska 7–20 3–16 14th
2021–22 Nebraska 10–22 4–16 13th
2022–23 Nebraska 2-1
Nebraska: 26–68 (.277) 9–50 (.153)
Total: 141–123 (.534)

Maybe we hire someone who wins 25% of the time and they'll turn around and win 50% here.

I care far more about the opinions of our resident Superior member of this board than the opinions of some guy who never played sports and retired years ago.

As someone who studied under the same Journalism Teacher as Lee, I must admit his comment is where my thoughts drifted in the 2nd Half.

Not sure who the announcers were last night but I did note that they referred to Breidenbach as a Euro player. I'm surprised they didn't call him Villhelm. At least he seemed to siphon all the ire of posters here from Tominaga for the time being. Now, bring on Pine Bluff and let's see if we can get to 3-1.

Well, I expected to lose this one. One note of optimism: If we ever see Walker and he still plays like last year, our team will be considerably better.

When he comes back...how will the fans respond?  Will they be happy he's back? If it was a legit medical reason will they be happy he's back?  If it turns out to be the magic lettuce...will they be happy he's back or will they be pissed that his lack of judgement (if stuff was legal would be a non issue) and maybe costing the team a number of possible victories..or will the fans not really have an opinion one way or the other.

I can’t help but think how much having Walker to start last night and BK to back him up would have increased that halftime lead.

Thats a tough one. Does having DW in the lineup stop all those bricks from flying? Does DW score against thier big? Thier big OWNED the paint.

Well if Walker would've been there they might've actually respected him enough not to just drop off and rim protect every drive by our guards.

Good chance. I just don't see it being a difference maker concerning winning. Maybe we lose by 12 instead of 20. I mean they scored 50 😳 in the 2nd half.

Its definitely a big game of what ifs, but what if we had a 12-15 point HT lead VS 7.  Do they crawl into a hole?  It’s more daunting coming out after half.  Of course the way the game was called in the 2nd didn’t help us.

Oh I agree with you. Another guy that can help with composure would have been HUGE last night. Because the player (SG) who had been the one to settle us down lost his in the 2nd half. Plus, even if undersized, DW doesn't go up weak to the rim like the other two bigs we have. They looked intimidated by St Johns Big. DW would not have been.

Without Walker we have ZERO inside presence offensively. Keita does a nice job blocking out and getting rebounds defensively, but him getting touches on offense is exactly what other teams want

I'm surprised Oleg hasn't gotten more looks.  I like what I've seen from him on offense better than WB of Keita.

I think their mentality would've been far different down 15. Instead its we played about as bad a half as can be played and were only down 7, lets show them what we can do.

Excellent point, and that's when I started to lose my mind.   We got up 12 and had multiple "Hoiberg era" possessions.   Undisciplined, selfish plays, one on one concepts with guys just launching shots early in the shot clock.  Boom, we're only up 7 at half.   Problem.

Noticeably hero ball against a defense I saw other teams solving by passing the ball around
