Coaches that you think should be on Nebraska's list, if this trend continues

Everything you are hearing today I can confirm except for the UCLA stuff. From what I heard it was the other way around.

 

Either way, if this gets finalized this is a major get for Nebraska. I consider Fred an elite college basketball coach. I watched first hand what he did in Ames, and it was impressive. Guy can coach circles around people. He will get talent and he knows how to get the best out of it. The one downside is it will be interesting to see how long he stays in Lincoln. If he got it rolling here I could easily see him being a candidate for UNC/Duke.

He can literally come in and become a legend. Not many other places he can do that.

I'm totally on board if it's Hoiberg.  I live about 40 miles from Ames and also saw first hand what he did at ISU.  If nothing else, he'll bring an exciting brand of offensive basketball to Lincoln.  No more stand around for 25 seconds and the have to fire up a bad shot as the clock hits zero....

So you would rather we fire our coach, hire some phony search firm, and conduct weeks of interviews and searching while every other program locks up their #1 targets? Because that's worked so well in the past.

So from what you're hearing nothing is finalized? He's still exploring all of his options? A lot of these twitter rumors are indicating it's all wrapped up.

If we have Hoiberg as a "done deal" why are we making an announcement on Friday and why didn't we fire Miles Saturday night/Sunday?

As it's been pointed out what if Miles makes a run in the NIT and while we're waiting Hoiberg changes his mind?

The finalized part I am skeptical about. I know UCLA has come and gone, I would be a little worried about Arizona.

My biggest worry with Fred is his statement that he "hated recruiting" while in college.  Nebraska isn't really a place that talent just lands in your lap, so you are going to have to put in a little effort.  This is an area that Miles excelled at.  Can Fred do the same?

After reading up on Hoiberg's tactics I am much more comfortable with him.  I can see the efficiency numbers.  Why they got those high numbers is what I like.   He despises long two point shots almost as much as I do.  His defenses try to funnel those types of shots for opponents.  Doesn't play an overly aggressive brand of defense.  His defenses are designed to be able to rebound missed shots well however and avoid penetration.  This almost has to result in a little more three point shooting being allowed than I would prefer.  However, as big as he is on analytics, maybe not.

There are a few aspects of my job I "hate" but I am really good at. Hating something about your job doesn't mean you are necessarily bad at it.

He's already walked that back to a point.  Also, if he recruiting is a deal breaker, why would he come back to college if that is what happens?
