  1. EXACTLY! I'll never dog on a kid that is giving effort. And he played hard, even in blowout losses. I wish him nothing but the best.
  2. Agree 100%! To say that this is a travesty is just not taking your rose colored glasses on. Branham had a fantastic year. You put their stats next to each other and it's very close. When things are that close, many times the reward goes to the player on the better team. It stink for Bryce, but Branham is a worthy choice.
  3. Call me crazy, but I'd rather play the team (Penn State) that we just throttled than a team that dismantled us twice. There is a reason they dismantled us twice. We have a tough time with them. I can't dismiss the 2 games against them this year as "well, we're playing better now". That's true, but they had their ways with the Huskers - twice. And Iowa? Good Lord, we can't match up with their athleticism. They have too many scorers. You take 2 away, there are 3 more ready to score. And if you get by Iowa, you have Rutgers. They can't score, but they'll just beat you up for 40 minutes. Win that and then you have to try to get through Illinois and Purdue, who are HORRIBLE matchups? On weary legs? The last 3 games have been great, but not enough to erase the 1st 17 games of the conference season. With all that being said, I'll still root like a mad man tonight that they can somehow beat the Purple Kitties.....
  4. Nebraska 68 Northwestern 76 0 Those of you picking 5 wins - love the enthusiasm, but you are all freaking nuts....... :)
  5. Nice quote of The Clash, Norm! Excellent work!
  6. Fred has had 3 seasons. 7-25. 7-20. And unless they pull a big upset, probably 7-25 again in year 3. The close losses last year gave us some hope. And having arguably one of our best recruiting classes coming in this year, with some good transfers, had us hoping for a possible tourney berth. Or at least in the conversation for 1. Instead, this is the worst of the 3 years, with the best players. The team seems disinterested. Watch the bench. Fred has the 1000 yard stare. Doc is asleep in his chair. Matt A stares into pace. Armon is the exception as he appears to be the most engaged. To me, the 1 thing you can control each night is effort and playing hard. There is not excuse not to. They haven't played hard the last half of the season. That's on the coaches. We are all Husker hoops fans. Why else would we be here? I don't understand the angst between a few posters towards each other. I understand that some thing it's best to give Fred another year. I don't agree, but I understand the sentiment. But to be told that "we just don't get it" doesn't sit well with me. I know what I'm seeing from Fred, and it's not good.
  7. I get what you are saying. But we are looking at a 25 loss, 20 loss and 25 loss season in Fred's 3 seasons. If he was at 17 losses, as 49r said, you are looking at being within a few games above or below .500 and possibly be in the conversation for a post season tourney of some kind.
  8. Probably should have said that Bryce is the "highest rated recruit" they've ever had.....
  9. No kidding. It seems like 20 years since that night. NEVER did I envision this disaster.
  10. And what do we have now, 3 years into Hoiberg's regime? 3 years, 3 completely different teams, 3 trainwrecks. It shouldn't look like this in Year 3. NU has the best player they've ever had in Bryce, and some other good pieces. And it looks horrible EVERY night. I don't see it looking better next year. Bryce is gone. Other will leave. Will any of these incoming recruits stick with their commitment? They see what is happening and Fred is probably gone (if not this year, next year). The team looks disinterested. The coaching staff on the sideline looks disinterested (other than Gates at times). It's criminal that a team with some decent talent is THIS bad. I watched Minnesota/Wisconsin last night. It's a miracle NU beat them. A miracle. NU is not only 14th out of 14 teams, they are SO FAR away from #13 - ridiculous. I love Fred the person, but Fred the coach has been a disaster.
  11. Opening night. Ugh. The hype was off the charts. I bought in BIG TIME. Fred told us this would be a fun team to watch and would give maximum effort EVERY night. I can tell you I'm not having any fun watching this team. I feel duped.
  12. Handy, I hope you're right, but I don't see it happening. The players do NOT like this new proposal by the owners and I don't think they're going to pass it. I don't think we'll see any sports until 2021, unfortunately.
  13. They stopped doing the winner of the All-Star game giving that league home field advantage in the World Series several years ago....
  14. I would agree with this IF......it was like the old days where the AL and NL did not play each other until the World Series. Now, with interleague play, it's a HUGE detriment to the AL team playing the NL ballpark. As bad as the pitchers are in the NL at hitting, imagine how much worse the AL pitchers are. At least the NL pitchers "may" have taken some hacks in spring training and batted throughout the season. An AL teams comes into an NL park and the AL pitcher has to bat and it's probably the 1st time he's picked up a bat since college or high school. I don't want to watch that.
  15. Or, if the pitcher does somehow manage to get on base, watching him try to run the bases with a stupid jacket on. DH for both leagues. Please.
  16. Amen to that! I'm still hanging my hat on that victory to these idiot hok fans at work! They are thumping their chests today that Garza is the Big Ten player of the year, Doyle is the Big Ten's women's player of the year and some Iowa wrestler is the Big Ten wrestler of the year. Yet, in basketball, with the players of the year, neither program can get close to a conference title. But they sure do have some handsome dude on that men's basketball team.....Good Lord....
  17. Totally agree. He just seemed more confident. Better moves, a little more aggression and hustle.
  18. They haven't finished these games, but they played hard to get those leads. On senior day, the Goofers will pound our Cornhuskers. Lots of frustration will be taken out on Fred's boys. As in most of the last 15 losses, NU will keep in close at the half, then get blown out in the 1st 5 minutes of the 2nd half. They'll put together a little streak to get the game back to 10-15 points, then get mauled again and lose by 20 pts. Rinse, lather, repeat. Overall, they've kept fighting during the streak but are just completely outmanned. However, I am concerned about the "halftime adjustments". Why do they get run out of the gym most of the time in those 1st 5 minutes of the 2nd half? Talk about annoying....
  19. Nebraska 61 Minnesota 84 Goofers take out their frustrations in a big way....
  20. I haven't decided if Nebraska fans are the most loyal in college sports because of their continued attendance or the dumbest in college sports because of their continued attendance. As Forrest Gump would say "I think maybe it's both. Maybe both is happening at the same time".
