  1. Since this message board, like all others, thrives on unsubstantiated rumor and speculation, let's add this one to the mix: Deshawn Corprew has a high school teammate who is also uncommitted for the 2016 class, according to this report out of Georgia: "there was a twist that was hinted at the very beginning. If Corprew is interested in Georgia, . . . then there is a possibility that Georgia could try to land his high school teammate, Papa N’Diaye, in a tandem deal.." Here is a link to N'Diaye's Rivals page: he is a 6'9" / 215 lb. Rivals four-star Center (ESPN and Scout 3-star PF), with Nebraska listed by Rivals and Scout as having interest. ESPN says Mississippi State has offered.

  3. You could say those last 2 teams were really bad, but I think our guys had a lot to do with making them look that way. I think we've been playing hugely better these last 2 games than we did against Samford and Northwestern. There's just a different energy and a different effort level. You can say it's just the level of competition, but I think we're just flat playing better. When Tai Webster tweeted that the team had "turned a corner" after the Iowa loss, you could have scoffed and thought they were empty words. But I see a difference in their overall play. I really do. I thought the ball movement against Minnesota was way better than during that 3-game skid. They're attacking the paint, doing a much better job of interior passing and dishing down low, and getting high percentage looks inside. They're also pushing the ball so much better in transition. Minnesota had to go away from the press because it wasn't working. All the things we'd be complaining about on this board are getting fixed. Very encouraged by that.

  4. As many have said, the competition the last two games hasn't been stellar (of course tell Ohio State that about Rutgers and they might disagree, at least for one half tonight). That said, what I love to see is we didn't play down to their level. We came out and played our game, then stepped on their throats. Haven't seen that in a long time here.

  5. This may be an important game for our two Illinois freshmen (Morrow and Watson) and our incoming recruit (Roby). Future recruits could look at our newly renewed Illinois pipeline along with a hopeful win and see us a prime landing spot.

I'm not sure I have ever seen the word "cocky" used on the HHC board. Just too many posters ready to jump all over that one. So let's all give a big "that's what she said" to all the folks in Illinois.

  14. It only matters if we offer first. Also, star ratings only matter if the guys we recruit have them. Finally, everyone in here is innocent. Didn't you know that?

  15. They say "cocky". I say hopeful. If we as fans went into every game expecting to lose then what is the point of being a fan of that team. Having said that I am a realist and honestly I can realistically see a way that we "can" win this game. Is it likely given our past history on the road? Maybe not. But it won't stop me from believing that we can win every game we go into. Also, if I had to guess 90% of the people of the Illinois message board are already chalking this one up as a win just because we're Nebraska and they're Illinois. So would they like to be the pot or the kettle...

  16. the one thing that was driving me nuts was the inability to cut off the driving lanes----well, that and getting caught flat footed when it came time to rebound. maybe add not boxing out, too. tip of the hat to K. Clark!!! $$$ not sure what to think of the RT situation. like Row6Seat10 states, disappointing. maybe it's me, but, i really have questioned her body language in more than a few games this season. i think she really misses cady, sample, 'T', and jeffries----i wonder if, much of the time, she isn't frustrated with this lineup. she has been labeled as the "leader" of this team and it could be a situation she doesn't fully embrace. i could be way off base, but clearly, something isn't right. whatever it is, i hope it all gets worked out------i am sure we don't need to remind her it's her final season as a husker. we all want her to go out in a good way.

  19. Interesting topic. Which of our losses hurt us the most? We haven't lost to anyone bad, yet. Sucked losing at home against a Samford team we probably wrote in ink in the W column before the season. Our best in-game chance for a W that ended up an L was the OT loss to Miami. Northwestern seemed ripe for the picking with their 7 footer out with an injury but then they curb-stomped us with that freshman forward. You feel like we shoulda had 2 of those 3. And the way we're playing right now, we probably don't drop that one against Samford. And, hell, Jacobson has become a better post defender, so maybe we hold off Northwestern if we played them here again. But it was the Miami game, for me, that took wind out of our sails. We had it right ... there. Take just 2 of those Ls and make them Ws and we're sitting at 12-6 instead of 10-8. And the fans would have a totally different perspective on our prospects for the season.

  28. I hear Creighton offered first. I wish we would have offered first. Hopefully we were just waiting for his unofficial so we could tell him in person. Otherwise it looks like we are just reacting to Creighton.

  35. I was thinking the same thing last night. I would have loved to get that Miami win at home. We were right there with Cincy too; if Shields isn't in foul trouble we probably win that game. Samford should have never happened, but things like that do happen with a young team. Northwestern should have also been a W, but once again blowing a decent lead is part of the learning curve with young teams imo. I have never really been to down on this team (or Tim Miles like some people have been) this year. Anyone who knows sports knows that this is par for the course when it comes to a young team. Add in our lack of size and this season seems about right so far. However, I believe in Tim Miles. He has exceeded expectations in 2/3 previous seasons. Last season was just bizarre when you take in to account all of the non-basketball related things going on with the team and the injuries to Leslee Smith and Moses Abraham. I still think the NIT is possible for this team, but I am not ready to talk about anything bigger until I see them win against some Big Ten teams that are not named Minnesota and Rutgers.

    Next 6 Games

We'll be favored by Vegas to go 1-5 during that stretch. Illinos might be a wounded animal, but they're a wounded animal that just beat Purdue by 14 at home. As nice as I feel about the last two games, my head tells me 1-5 is the likely outcome. Sometimes I don't like my head.

  39. I tried not to get too optimistic this year. Especially after the rough non con and then the poor start to conference play. I know Rutgers and Minnesota suck this year. BUT Only If we beat Maryland or Purdue at home Only If we win the rest of our home games. Only If we steal a few road wins. Only if we do not have any more bad losses and win a few in the Big 10 tourney I am so excited about the possibility of only if! Only If...

  40. Could it be the Huskers have both the B1G Player and Freshman of the week next week? I think the two Huskers have a pretty good start! Jessica just keeps getting better every game. What can you say about Natalie! Such an exciting player to watch! Whatever it was, It's disappointing. She's a senior and the leader of this team, she can't put herself into that situation.
