HuskerCager Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 These rankings are interesting. What especially caught my eye was who was in positions 11 and 12, and who weren't there. http://btn.com/2013/04/09/power-rankings-super-early-first-look-at-2013-14/ Daledangdarn, hhcmatt and Norm Peterson 3 Quote

Huskerpapa Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 I'll be honest, my expectations are a bit higher than number ten. But that is just my humble opinion. Norm Peterson 1 Quote
GATA Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 I'll be honest, my expectations are a bit higher than number ten. But that is just my humble opinion. My very preliminary goal would be to finish ninth -- ahead of Minnesota, Northwestern and Penn State. It'll be pretty tough to finish higher than that based on how things look on paper. Quote
hskr4life Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 I mean I think we can finish higher than 10th, but to see someone else say so that is not a husker fan is nice to see! Norm Peterson 1 Quote
AuroranHusker Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 These rankings are highly suspect. Kind of like a pre-preseason poll. Mythagain will be losing a big duo from their team & this poll has them #3 (prior to Burke/Hardaway) and yet Indiana dropped to #7 w/ talk of Zeller joining Oladipo. Weird... Quote
tcp Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 being picked below PSU and Northwestern (cough) means that we'll probably finish in around 8th or 9th instead. Hell, we finished 10th this year. Quote
PAhusker Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 Someone can come pick my jaw up anytime that makes two of us but im talking about penn state Quote
uneblinstu Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 Illinois has a lot of talent coming in and PSU and NW are the two worst teams until they prove otherwise much like we had to do last year. I have no idea what Minnesota will be. Quote
Chuck Taylor Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 Frazier and Drew Crawford are both outstanding players and could lift PSU and NW if they return in good health. Main problem for NW is having a new coach and a new system. Still, it's hard to see Minn and Illinois dropping to the basement. Quote

nustudent Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 I'll be honest, my expectations are a bit higher than number ten. But that is just my humble opinion. Mine are too, but it's hard to fault the BTN for putting us there right now. Quote
Cookie Belcher Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 Penn State will be much improved. Don't think of this year's Penn State team when thinking about next year. Quote
49r Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 Penn State will be much improved. Don't think of this year's Penn State team when thinking about next year. Could be said about Northwestern and us too. And Purdue and Iowa and probably Illinois and most likely Michigan State. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 Penn State will be much improved. Don't think of this year's Penn State team when thinking about next year. Penn State will get Frazier back. If he's healthy, that alone will make them much improved. Will we be much improved? Biggest losses from last season would be Talley and Ubel. Biggest adds would be Webster, Fuller, Petteway, Pitchford and Smith. Which, in addition to talent, adds depth, something we were sorely lacking in last year. Everyone coming back adds a year of experience, which is more significant with a coach entering his 2nd year at a program. I would think we would be an improved team as well. I would think much improved. This guy has Minnesota and Illinois dropping to the bottom and Northwestern and Penn State leapfrogging us. Who knows where we might end up, but I don't look at Penn State or Northwestern and see teams that have clearly surpassed us. And I see Purdue and Wisconsin, teams we pretty well hung with last year (except AT Madison), and I see teams we should be able to hang with again next season. We could plausibly finish anywhere from 7th to 10th and I don't think a top half finish is totally out of the question either. It's not very likely, for sure. But it's not totally out of the question either. Quote

Daledangdarn Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 If Illinois finishes 11th like predicted, John Groce will have some very unhappy people up in Illinois, I don't see them doing that bad though. Quote
KZRider Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 I don't know what to EXPECT but I am HOPEFUL. IMO we have the makings of a pretty good team next year. I'm talking NCAA bubble team here not FInal Four. Of course, That depends mightily on redshirts and freshman who are unproven in league play. And it depends on a coach and staff that are proven. Maybe I've just got rose colored glasses but I think Nebraska's improvement will be what everybody's talking about and we might just finish in the top half of the league next year. Quote
TheGov21 Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 I understand that Penn State and Northwestern are getting their best players back. But I do think Nebraska should be more improved than them. I may be in the minority, but I wouldn't be shocked to see the Huskers above Minnesota and Illinois next year. Quote
