hhcmatt Posted December 7 Report Posted December 7 Well, that 89-52 beatdown was one of the worst losses in school history so Kent's 1200th call was indeed memorable. Worst lost since a 73-51 loss at Maryland last season in terms of points scored. Worst lost since a 102-64 loss (38 point) game at Iowa on March 4th, 2021 Quote
cornfed24-7 Posted December 7 Report Posted December 7 (edited) Oooof that was baaaaaaad. Gonna have to rethink my rethink about this team. They quit today. That's not a good sign. Essegian is gonna end up being pretty good. I like him alot. He's nowhere close to what Tominaga gave us...yet. Silver lining - this happens at least once a season with a Hoibergs team. I think the best possible scenario is it happened game one in conference play, on the road, and against MSU. Team needs to delete this from the memory bank, regroup, and move on. demone Posted December 7 Report Posted December 7 Saw a comment from FH in the post game that the team didn't practice well all week. I can understand a bad DAY of practice, but ALL WEEK? As the head coach, how in the hell do you let that happen? Bugeaters1 1 Quote

nuhusker7 Posted December 7 Report Posted December 7 The sky is not falling, Fred should not be on the hot seat, or season is not doomed. I really liked how we played in the first half all things considered. We still need to figure out our offense, otherwise teams will just blanket Connor and we have nothing else. The second half was sad to see. Come back and beat a talented but beatable Indiana team and everything is back on track. Cazzie22, Handy Johnson, Art Vandalay and 3 others 1 1 4 Quote
cozrulz Posted December 7 Report Posted December 7 20 conference games. A few are bound to get away from every team. Need Berke to get healthy. Silverbacked1, CanadianHusker, Bugeaters1 and 2 others 1 4 Quote
Huskerpapa Posted December 7 Report Posted December 7 (edited) I chose to take a little time before responding to this beat down; but * Michigan State is better than I thought. They played hard-ass basketball, played much harder than us, and hit their shots. Congratulations to them. * The refs did set the tone of this game with their calls and lack of calls. * We played like a disorganized disaster. That is on both the staff and players. * I give credit to Morgan, he was the one player who played decently. * I do not often say the following, at least lately, this team was not ready to play, and they quit in the second half. * Without calling out the players individually, there better be some soul searching taking place on the flight home. We have players who do not understand what it is going to take to win in this conference. Some should understand, which is disconcerting. We may even have a player or two that should not be playing at this level. Deep breath, hopefully this is an aberration and we will take it out on Indiana. I expected us to start 0-2. No surprises for me there. And given the new expanded Big Ten, we won't have to worry about any of these any time soon. Move on after this first wave of conference games and be ready to play in January. Otherwise that December Bracketology thread is going to be a very sad place to visit. Quote
hskr4life Posted December 7 Report Posted December 7 I said this in another thread but… it’s not that we lost. We were expected to and this will be one of the toughest road games. It’s HOW we lost that’s really concerning. Both in terms of metrics AND player effort. cornfed24-7 1 Quote
CanadianHusker Posted December 8 Report Posted December 8 Ugh!!! Thank God for Capt. Morgan (x2)! And thank God I wasn’t able to take my boys to this game! (I’d hate for them to see my weeping the whole drive home. ) Never let a team outwork us again! Learn any other lesson necessary and… Turn the page. GBR! Cazzie22 and cornfed24-7 2 Quote
Cazzie22 Posted December 8 Report Posted December 8 48-19! That rebounding differential really tells the story. HuskerBB and hal9000 2 Quote

basketballjones Posted December 8 Report Posted December 8 Idk maybe I’m just used to a few road beat-downs every year and this didn’t really bother me. Caught an amped up, hot team on the wrong day. We matched up bad with them. Silverbacked1, nuhusker7, throwback and 2 others 1 4 Quote

bkamler Posted December 8 Report Posted December 8 The stats don't lie. Williams played 33:36 minutes and Did Not Get One Rebound! That pretty much sums up our effort today. CanadianHusker, basketballjones, Cazzie22 and 2 others 1 4 Quote
Faux Mike Peltz Posted December 8 Report Posted December 8 Fred’s gonna have a hey day with the guys in practice this week. I thought it was a bit premature by some of crowning Connor “better than Keisei” after a couple of non con games. MSU clearly scouted and with him shut down, Brice and Juwan off, just knew it was going to be a really long night. I realize Fred is trying to get Gavin his confidence back up but yikes! Had the ball taken right from his hands again. Honestly, Cale looks more comfortable out there than Gavin does right now. Not that it would’ve mattered, MSU was just on fire. Need to learn a lot in practice this week. HuscurAdam 1 Quote

Nighthawk Posted December 8 Report Posted December 8 Reception at the venue I was at yesterday was spotty at best on my phone so have up listening about 7 minutes into the game. Quote
Raidsker Posted December 8 Report Posted December 8 I was not expecting that. MSU looked fast and super athletic and were clicking on offense. Hitting 3's and only 1 misses FT. We will see but that looked like a very good Izzo team. We looked totally baffled on offense. I have a feeling we are going to see some of this... if the 3 isn't falling can we move the ball enough or get to the rim enough to stay in it. Overall is MSU elite athletically or are we a little slow out there? I think MSU is very athletic. That will cause some problems for us all year. Quote
