Fred on BTN (this was from his press conference, not live)

Wanted the team to be able to savor the moment together.

Good day not to have anything to prep for. Could reflect about where things are.

Start prepping immediately now - put a game plan together to try to win against a great team.

BTN guys:

NU is built to win NCAA games - versatility in scoring

Trev Alberts story line is unbelievable ::wink::

TAM wins with offensive rebounding

NU will be tough for TAM to scheme for because so many guys can beat you.

I like NU - they're tough

Have to keep TAM off the glass - 42% offensive rebounding, but they miss a lot of shots - a LOT of shots.

TAM is good defensively

If you get Houston, let's see what happens.

ESECN gave us almost zero chance on their Bracketology show.  They pretty much thought we are all Keisei.  Jay Bilas was the only one who mentioned Mast as another player.

and if Keisei goes off for 40+?

They are hot too (5-1).  They are guard centric and good at getting to the line and driving which is always important in march.

Either we make 3s and we can win going away or we get into a slugfest and they might be favored for that.

We were 7 - 2 down the stretch.

Our schedule during the stretch KenPom rankings in parentheses

Michigan (127) W

Penn State (77) W

@ Indiana (93) W

Minnesota (78) W

@ Ohio State (47) L

Rutgers (100) W

@ Michigan (127) W

Indiana (93) BTT W

Illinois (10) BTT L

Their schedule in their 5 - 1 run

@ Georgia (90) W

Mississippi State (30) W

@ Ole Miss (87) W

Ole Miss (87) SECT W

Kentucky (19) SECT W

Florida (29) SECT L

They are all yolo shots all the time with very good 1v1 players.  Extremely emotional roller coaster team.

Our extreme help will be an interesting problem for them if we rotate fast enough.  It should also help with keeping them off the glass.   They are elite athletically but little and have no one to handle Mast.

Our most important player in this one may very well be Sam.  JL might get a lot of minutes too.  We’re gonna need great perimeter defense at the guard position.

I've already started researching! Ofc

Looks like a physical team, rebounding, not great shooting but they have great athletic guards - - watch out especially for their star, a short pure scoring guard in wade Taylor (#4).

Top rebounder is andersson Garcia (#11)

I think this is a good matchup, we got a good draw despite the media focus on trev.

we will focus on rebounding, but play good D and we might blow these guys out, they're typical SEC fare with athletic teams you can't just out score but that don't play any D. If you D them up and play physical I think it's not that bad. TBD. I haven't watched much sec this year, but I checked out the sec tourney highlights from A&M, and they're hot rn. But we are too. Shouldn't be as bad as some say.

I just checked with my good friend Lindy and his preseason prediction was that A&M would be 13th in the nation and would get to the sweet 16. (Please take note that the same periodical picked KU to be #1 and Michigan State to be #4).

Tickets prices have skyrocketed for our session.  I hope that means we’re going to turn Memphis into a PBA home game!

How much apiece are tickets now?

The good: they don’t shoot the 3 well and the don’t defend the 3 well.

The bad: they offensive rebound well and they have a “dude,” which is my biggest fear. Our defense is not built to stop “1 guy” who’s going off. Hopefully they can add in some adjustments this week.

The media loves this Wade Taylor fella. Preseason SEC POY. He shoots a whopping 36% from the field and 31% from three and turns the ball over 3 times a game. Their guards looked great in the SEC tourney because Kentucky doesn’t play any amount of defense. Our team defense could/should cause them problems. Their backcourt will combine for a lot of points, just make it tough on them and make sure they do it inefficiently. If Taylor uses up about 30 possessions to get his 20 points that’s fine by me. We’re gonna have to secure defensive rebounds for sure.
