  1. Looked like the same deal the Creighton dude had against us and he bounced back pretty quickly, so I guess I'm hopeful.

  2. Meah 3-3 on free throws was not a square on the bingo card. He gave good minutes and hopefully he can carry that over if he needs to carry a bigger load on Thursday.

  7. I have to eat some of my comments made during our 6 game death spiral. Kudos to Fred and the team for staying resolved and moving ahead. We were the clutch team down the stretch and Rollie’s 3 was massive. Hoping Berke is ready by Thursday. Didn’t realize he had 15 pts. Meah gave us some good minutes in the first half. Beat Maryland.

  9. Also 100% from the foul line down the stretch, with a lot being 1 and 1s. Was it three times? Berke, Sam and Brice? That's huge in a tight game. 12-12 in the last 5 minutes.

  10. Nebraska Cornhuskers (15-8) vs Ohio State Buckeyes (14-9) Date: Sunday Feb 9th, 2025 Time: 1:00 pm CST Arena: Pinnacle Bank Arena Broadcast: BTN (Kevin Kugler and Shon Morris) Ohio State Info Head Coach: Jake Diebler Location: Columbus, OH Conference: B1G Nickname: Buckeyes Mascot: Brutus Buckeye Last time out: Beat Maryland Point Spread: Nebraska by 1.5 Typical Rotation Depth: 8+ Nota bene: Jake Diebler parlayed his strong finish as interim coach at the end of last season into the full time job at OSU OSU played one of the harder non-cons in the B1G, beating Kentucky and Texas while losing to Texas A&M, Pitt, and Auburn While Ohio St is 17-5 vs Nebraska as members of the B1G, Nebraska has won 3 of the last 4 and the last two in Lincoln Combo guard Meechie Johnson played his first two years at Ohio St, transferred to South Carolina for two years, and is back in Columbus for his 5th year. However, he has stepped away for "personal reasons" and hasn't played since December. Player to watch: Bruce Thorton, Jr The Ohio St PG came into this season as a member of the all-conference pre-season team and has added a consistent 3pt shot to his impressive arsenal, shooting 46.1% from 3 while leading the team in scoring and assists. Thorton is a true 3 level scorer and shoots at a high percentage from anywhere, even shooting 49.1% from mid-range. Bruce Thorton Sr was a NFL cornerback Player to watch: John Mobley The freshman combo guard has become a bucket for the Buckeyes and has jumped into the startling lineup with Meechie Johnson out of the picture. Mobley leads the team in 3pt attempts, currently hitting on 39% of them for the season, and is the type of player where you need to pick him up once he crosses half court. Inside the arc is a different story as he converts at an anemic 30.2% from mid-range and shocking 47.7% at the rim Player to watch: Devin Royal The bouncy forward leads the team in rebounding and lives at the rim where he converts at a high rate and draws contact. If you can get him to pull up anywhere past the rim you'll live with the results. Diebler took over last season for Chris Holtmann and impressed enough to where he was hired on full time. This season the Buckeyes have played a challenging non-conference and have some big wins. With their roster and resources they seems like perhaps they should be better. Time will tell if they made the right decision hiring a guy who got hot for a month. The Buckeyes aren't a team that shoots a ton of 3s but they are a team with shooters capable of burning Nebraska if given the chance. Their offense in conference has relative had trouble shooting and handling the ball as compared to the non-con. While they don't tend to shoot a ton of 3s, it was heavy 3pt attack vs Purdue that lead to OSU snapping the Boilermaker's home winning streak. This Ohio St team is plenty capable of doing the same thing in Lincoln today. With their athleticism up front and size in the back, Ohio St is one of the better defenses in the country. However, the Buckeyes are extremely foul prone, especially at the center position. Expect the Huskers to continuously attack downhill in order to capitalize. It would help if Nebraska's post players could hit some FTs today. Ohio St has been hot as of late, winning 4 of their last 5 including two on the road. Nebraska also seems hot with two consecutive road wins of their own. Assuming that both teams can handle the earlier start time, this should be a high level game. Prediction: Nebraska 76 - Ohio St 72 View full article

  11. IMO the two best point guards in the country are in the Big Ten. Braden Smith and Bruce Thornton. There are some other good ones out there, but guys like RJ Davis, Tamin Lipsey and Mark Sears are having down years by their standards. Thornton is scary. He's like a mix of old school floor general and modern point guard who can cross you up, stop on a dime and drain a 28 footer. Built like a running back and strong as hell. IQ is off the charts. His efficiency might be more impressive than anyone else in the country considering his usage rate - shooting splits of 52/46/83 and 1.6 turnovers per game. But Ohio State would be hot garbage without him. When you watch them, everyone else on their team looks poorly coached. I suppose that may be because they are. It's not for a lack of talent (4 and 5 stars galore on that roster). They are long and athletic. They play out of control and foul a whole lot. We're going to have a big home court advantage tomorrow. Need to make our free throws. Freshman guard Mobley is kind of their Tominaga, but they don't really know how to use him like that. Still, he has legit NBA range and you cannot leave him alone. I'd be ok with making Royal and Stewart try to beat you in the post. Just don't let Thornton and Mobley go off from the perimeter. Huskers by 8.

  12. Didn’t we stop Queen fairly well the first time we played them with Meah playing more than he has lately? I was thinking he did a pretty good job on him. Could be wrong. And yes it will hurt some without BB if he can’t go. But next man up baby

  16. A few thoughts prior to the Super Bowl: - Berke may have had his best game as a Husker. He is becoming more comfortable and allows us to spread the floor. - Brice is becoming one of our best players ever. He is a good defender and rebounder and looks confident at all three levels. He is $money$ at the free throw line. And oh yeah, he is a leader! - Juwan has also elevated his game, plus, he looks like he is having fun. - Shout out to Braxton. He coulda moped and mailed it in after he was benched. Instead he is playing well...although I was screaming at him when he went to the floor and didn't immediately get up, in the first half. He seemed to realize his error and got up and ran. - Once again everyone who played, seemed to play well. Make no mistake, Ohio State is a pretty darn good team. They defend, they play aggressively and they can shoot the damn ball. We won, nuf said!

  24. not that there's a very realistic chance of that happening, but hypothetically that would potentially put us at 10-6 in Q1. Here were the teams last year who had 10 or more Q1 wins: UConn (13-3) 1 seed Purdue (12-4) 1 seed Houston (16-4) 1 seed Iowa State (10-6) 2 seed Baylor (10-9) 3 seed So of course if Nebraska pulled that off, we'd be a 7 seed.

  33. I'm sure they heard me from Northwest Iowa on the ref's effort in the 1st half. Again, your going to miss calls as a ref. Just call it consistently. On one end, they call a foul when we go straight up, and in Rollie's case going away from the OSU player. We go the rim, the OSU guy does the exact same thing. All of a sudden it is not a foul? It makes it look like you are on the take.

  37. For as many odd plays as he sometimes makes, and some of the mixed reaction on here, Berke can have massive impacts on the game. His size and athleticism just changes things on defense for us.

  47. Hey guys, I will come up with another contest this season, but I'm not sure what or when. I wasn't going to say anything, but Mrs. Cip told me she posted this on her Facebook page, so I guess that gives me permission to share. I didn't watch any of the Washington game. Had to get up at 4 am Thursday to take her to Bryan West for a double mastectomy. They took 4 lymph nodes also, finding cancer in the first two. We have to wait a couple weeks for results on the other two. Why am I sharing this? To give people hope. We will win this battle. Just like we will win the MDS battle with Seth. Typically, life expectancy with his battle is 7 years from diagnosis. We just started year 15. When I said we will win this battle, it's not us winning, it is that God wins! So far, He is undefeated. That's why I'm so confident. We are all looking forward to Sunday. Church, a Huskers victory and the Super Bowl! Haven't decided what I'm cooking yet.
