It's almost like losing six consecutive coin flips. Odds are good we shoulda won one or two of those. KenPom has your back on this one as he has a "Luck Statistic" that we are towards the bottom on. Luck - A measure of the deviation between a team’s actual winning percentage and what one would expect from its game-by-game efficiencies. It’s a Dean Oliver invention. Essentially, a team involved in a lot of close games should not win (or lose) all of them. Those that do will be viewed as lucky (or unlucky).3 points

Ed Chang is a 5-Star type player

That's a pretty bold statement saying he's a "once in a generation in-state talent". There have been players way better than Ed Chang in state in the past generation. I'm not saying Ed isn't a good player but that might be setting the bar a little high with praise like that. You're right... He's similar to all the other 6'7"+, super long, athletic, with absolutely beautiful strokes from outside that we've had in this state. I kid! I kid! I know... Maybe went a bit superlative. But I watched a bunch of his highlights then finally got to see him play live. He's the real deal. Dreams of tournament wins were dancing through my head. So shoot me, ha!2 points -

I think in Arop (committed), Chang (offered) and Wingett we have three really good kids who would like to play at Nebraska. Chang and Arop seem to be really good friends off the court. Chang tweeted a picture of them eating together after the South, Papio game. The state tournament will be really good this year with those three and they'll be back next year. Pretty exciting time for prep hoops in Nebraska, I think.1 point -

Nebraska has played only once against MSU three straight years. There is no scenario that covers the schedule in a 14-team league from year-to-year. It literally is an ever-evolving year by year situation. No rhyme or reason, seemingly... I'm not so sure about that. I don't think it's random scheduling. I think it's simply that they started over when they added Rutgers and Maryland. Of course they started over. 14-team leagues are unwieldy. The 12-team scheduling was perfect, 14 not so much. That doesn't mean there's not a pattern to how they're scheduling things. It's not a pattern that's discernible; is that better? Not exactly Based on the current pattern: Locks Michigan, Ohio St, and Michigan St twice next year. Indiana, Northwestern, and Rutgers away only Penn St and Purdue home only The rest Out of Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin we play 1 of them Home and Away. The other two teams we play home only. Out of Maryland and Minnesota we play 1 of them Home and Away. The other team we play Away only.1 point -

And as long as the season went well, TP would have been a positive asset. If things started to drift a bit for him, I could see him pulling the boat down with him. Seemed like a good kid, could hit some tough shots, I'm sure Miles would have great things to say about him, but for me he's not the type you want to build a program with. If you have a strong core both talent and character-wise then maybe he's a kid you take a chance on. That way if he doesn't work out you show him the door. Or if you are a building program hoping to maybe get lucky on a player, you take a risk on him. That's how he ended up here. I don't want to be a character assassin on a kid but I don't hold him in near as high regard as a player as many on this board. He was great for the program his first year and I thoroughly enjoyed the end of the season run. My hope is that Nebraska gets to the point where we are strong enough that we can take a flyer on that type of player but if he doesn't work out no one notices that he's not there the next year.1 point -

Samford is 2-10 in conference now and currently on a 6 game losing streak. That one still stings. And may be the difference between getting an NIT bid or being home for the postseason again. Had we taken care of business it appears it would have been a difference of around 17 spots in the RPI.1 point -

I once built a snowman in front of my outside hoop and lowered it all the way down. Took some red spray paint and painted an O on the front of the snowman and wrote Craft on the back and did that to the snow man until there was nothing left. Ok maybe I was a little bitter...1 point

As for your last two questions, next year is not NCAA or bust. And has Miles had enough time to make a big step forward? Depends on what your definition of big step forward is. In my eyes, he has already made a huge step forward in terms of where the program was when he got here and where it is now. Made the NCAA tournament already. Now whether you believe that was luck or the team getting hot or whatever, the team still made it to the tournament. And in terms of recruiting, we are light years ahead of what Doc was able to do, even without being able to nail down a legit big man. Now, what we do next year will speak volumes to how well recruited talent is developed but I think we are headed in the right direction in that regard.1 point -

Walt was hanging at Gate again after the game, wearing a red Husker windbreaker. Unlike Wednesday he didn't have a young lady on his arm. In that setting he is a fun guy. He and I got tangled up in the crowd, back to back, and he apologized profusely. I said "no problem Walt, it was like a block out move. You should have tried that when you played". He thought that was hilarious, and acknowledged with a big grin that wasn't his deal.1 point -

if shields misses wednesday's game, will that be the first game anyone has missed due to injury? that's pretty amazing to go 3/4 of the season completely healthy. i know hammond/morrow were banged up, but i think they have been able to play in every game if needed. also kind of sad our record isn't better given we've been at full strength the whole season.1 point -

Why do you hate Calipari? Like him or not, the dude wins a lot of games every year. My dislike comes from the belief Calipari is pretty good at breaking the rules. He is the only head coach to have Final Four appearances vacated at more than one school. He has left the schools behind before the sanctions come down so the schools get punished while he is on to the next job. It isn't worth much discussion because it is old news...but it was nice to see a team we beat come back from 21 down to beat them. This is the important part.1 point
