  1. I'm back from a trip and find that this Jean has opened up a whole peck of trouble. I'm doubtful she'll take the time to send a rebuttal letter since the ShimSham practice schedule is probably quite rigorous.

  2. This is the fan who tells you that you're cheering too loud. This is the fan that leaves with 4 minutes to go when the game is tied. This is the fan that will only stand when a t-shirt is being fired into the crowd.

    Which is Worse?

By sheer topic count the answer around here should be obvious Give me your tired bandwagon fans, Your huddled football fans yearning to cheer, The wretched Jaysker refuse of your burning shore. Send these, the homeless, to Nebrasketball, I lift my lamp beside the NCAA golden bubble

  6. All joking and Jean-bashing aside, I hope this doesn't discourage people from yelling. It only makes me want to yell louder.

  8. While sort of a repeat and late to the party, this was a post with merit. RELATIVELY SPEAKING, our schedule in the B1G is easier than most in our conference. It also has a legit claim to be the best conference in the NCAA. We have way too many posts on this board that go like this

  9. LOL! Thanks for the memories. This is totally off topic...but I remember a number of years ago when we had four seats at the Bob. Nebraska was playing KU and my grandmother (god rest her soul) was a diehard KU fan (she was even buried with her KU sweatshirt). She came up and went to the game with my parents and myself. She was so excited (although NU of course got blown away...our excitement came from her happiness) to be at the game...and the people sitting right next to her had a cousin on the KU team so that got her even more pumped up to be at the game. It was the last time she got to see KU in person.

  10. My family has donated more to the university than most people we know and my 71 year old father claps, stands and cheers. Paying 1,000-1million doesn't mean you can tell everyone to sit.

  11. This is about creating energy in our building which has seemed to help create defensive energy. It is a pro Nebraska cheer. Not a derogatory one. That should be considered okay at any time that is not the National Anthem or when we are at the line imo.

  12. Shavon Shields this season? Since we won our first Big 10 game, he's been averaging 13.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while shooting 74% from the stripe and 47% from the floor including 35% from beyond the arc. I wouldn't be disappointed in those numbers. You?

  13. This is the fan who tells you that you're cheering too loud. This is the fan that leaves with 4 minutes to go when the game is tied. This is the fan that will only stand when a t-shirt is being fired into the crowd. This is also probably a fan that donates $1000s of Dollars to the athletic department, so we can Hire Quality coaches like Tim miles, build practice facilities, and buy out coaches like Doc which all allow us to have something to cheer for.So, it takes all kinds...if we only had people that just bought a ticket and yelled loud....we probably won't end up with much to cheer about. Hello Jean.

    I feel bad for Iowa...

YEAH RIGHT! I know some of us may or may not have wanted Iowa to lose, but it happened, and nobody in their right mind can be sad about Iowa losing. Ever. I'm only 10% serious here, but is Iowa on the bubble yet? This is how you back out of shoe-in 5- or 6-seed status and start to worry. This is how narrow the margin is from decent seed to the fringe of the tournament and how fluid the tournament picture is this time of year. I haven't looked up Iowa but they are 19-8 (8-6) now with RPI of 31 and maybe just 2 top 25 wins. Still safely IN, but lose a couple more and it gets HAIRY! WE NEED TO KEEP WINNING! Let's go forward!

  19. Since when do people around here complain about Creighton posts? I thought we were generally pretty receptive to talking with them and about them. I'm talking about piling on anyone new here lately. A lot of talk here about how we're going to swing all those fans over to Nebraska. Is the follow up plan to call all them trolls or snark them to death when they post here?

  26. Nebraska Cornhuskers (16-10) vs Illinois Fighting Illini (15-12) Location: Pinnacle Bank Arena Date: Wednesday, Feb 26, 2014 Time: 8 pm, CST TV: BTN Radio: Across the state on the IMG Husker Sports Radio Network, including KLIN (1400 AM/94.5 FM) in Lincoln, KFAB (1110 AM) in Omaha and KRVN (880 AM) in Lexington. Play-by-play: Kent Pavelka; Color: Matt Davison Kent Pavelka Tailgate Pump up MixIllinois Info Head Coach: John Groce Location: Champaign-Urbana, IL Conference: B1G 10 Nickname: Fighting Illini Last time out: Beat Minnesota Typical Rotation Depth: 9-10 players Line: Illinois by 4 Shirt not to wear: Orange, Bright orange, neon orange, puke orange Fun Fact : Possible Starters Huskers 0 Tai Webster 6-4 194 Fr 2 David Rivers 6-7 198 Jr 5 Terran Petteway 6-6 209 So 31 Shavon Shields 6-7 219 So 35 Walter Pitchford 6-10 234 So Fighting Illini 13 Tracy Abrams 6-2 190 Jr 25 Kendrick Nunn 6-3 180 Fr 24 Rayvonte Rice 6-4 235 Jr 21 Malcolm Hill 6-6 210 Fr 32 Nnanna Egwu 6-11 250 Jr Previous Matchup Illinois got out to a 12-4 lead before the Husker clawed back for a 1 point half time lead thanks to a Gallegos buzzer beating layup. Nebraska pulled away with a 13-3 run with 8 minutes to go to clinch what had been a close game. Shavon Shields channeling his inner Jack Moore by going 15-15 at the free throw line help him to be our player of the game. The Skinny As always, the current game is the biggest of the year and it's a game we're not favored to win by Vegas or Bracketogists. A win puts Nebraska within tasting distance of the NCAA tourney. A loss means we need to win the next 3. Gotta love that we find ourselves here either way. After enduring an 8 game conference skid, John Groce decided to insert two freshmen into the starting lineup and subsequently have gone 2-2. The Illini have shot a little better from 3 thanks to Kendrick Nunn but still managed to only put up 39 points in a home game against Ohio State in their last home game. Last game after putting up 24 points on the road in Minnesota the Illini found their fight and 38 2nd half points to knock off the Gophers. Both teams play great defense and struggle to shoot the ball. Expect yet another low scoring, defensive struggle with both team going through scoring droughts. This is truly anyone's game to win and here are some factors/thoughts/questions to consider outside of the Xs and Os: Illinois has had 7 days to prepare for what is a must win game for their NIT chances How quickly can the Huskers adjust if the Illinois game plan deviates from what they've seen on film? While this is a home game for Illinios, they've lost their last 5 at home How engaged will the crowd be for a Wednesday night game against Nebraska? Both teams are somewhat better since their last meeting. How much better? Has Nebraska truly figured out what it takes to win on the road? Which team has a role player that provides extra points? How motivated is Illinois to win? Are they more motivated than the Huskers? Which players are more bought into their team? It's possible that Nebraska is due for a let down or this is the game that Illinois doesn't brick it up from downtown. However, doesn't it seem like these Huskers would beat Illinois by 15 in Lincoln today?Prediction: Huskers 62 - Illinois 58 Click here to view the article

  29. Can we organize this for the Wisconsin game? You think this wouldn't fire up the team? Holy smokes! Don't mess with it. Husker Power is awesome and loud. Getting the crowd to perform something else with as much energy is a gamble not worth taking at this point, IMO. Do "Us Always" at some other point.

  30. Because we played in Charleston, didn't we play the max 12 we were allowed? I thought the rule now was 29 regular-season games with no in-season tournament or 27 reg-season games with an in-season tournament that can consist of up to 4 games (so up to 31 total games). So because our in-season Charleston Tournament was a 3-game tourney, that gave us a 30-game limit - 12 non-cons and 18 conf games. Last year I think we were able to play the max of 31 because the Cip Classic counted as a 4-game tournament. I also believe you can only play in the same tournament once every 4 years, so we couldn't have another Cip Classic until 2016-17 or couldn't go back to Charleston until 2017-18. I believe that's correct.

I want Indiana with hopes that they move into top 100, thus becoming a better win and not a bad loss should we lose there. Wisconsin will be a great win regardless, whether they are 6 or 16. Just my opinion.
