Silent1 Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 Hey everyone! Longtime lurker here (and on the old HHC site), first time poster. As I read through all the posts discussing the team's potential for next year I got to thinking about the University's new radio contract and began to wonder if that will effect Kent's position as the voice of Nebrasketball. Anyone know? I really enjoy him as the play by play guy and respect him for brining his enthuiasm (and sometimes homerism) every game even in the many down years we've had. It feels to me like he's been along for the highs and lows of this program as much or more than as any fan or media member I know. I hope when the program finally gets that elusive NCAA tournament win, he's still behind the mike! #GotIt Red Don, Bugeaters1, Norm Peterson and 3 others 6 Quote
HuskerPower #nato73 Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 Sometimes homerism? Ha! Love his broadcasts as well. Was thinking as I heard him sign off the other day that I sure as heck hope he gets to broadcast a tournament run soon. He deserves it as do we all! HuskerFever, Bugeaters1 and jaimes2000 3 Quote
HuskerActuary Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 Nope, the Omaha move from KFAB to KXSP has no impact on IMG employees (i.e. Pavelka). Quote
Miles ahead of the rest Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 There is no broadcaster I'd rather listen to in the country than Kent. The enthusiasm he brings with every game is phenomenal. Many road games, I choose to turn the tv down and use Kent and Matt as the commentary. Nebraska basketball isn't the same without those two. Win or loss, I listen to every pregame and every postgame. Love both of you guys and wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks guys! REDZONEDAN, BjoeHusker, Noah121 and 2 others 5 Quote

hal9000 Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 Kent and Matt are a great duo, no question. Can't wait till we get to hear another, "It's time to twerk!" Noah121 1 Quote
colhusker Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 Sometimes homerism? If sometimes is all the time . And for the record that is not a slam on Kent. He and Matt do a great job and while giving us that good ole Nebraska slant, compliment the other team when needed. jaimes2000 and Bugeaters1 2 Quote
kldm64 Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 I appreciate all of you. Love HHC! GOT IT!!!! I love it when they used to use Pavelka on the pregame video for stating lineups. It gave me chills when there was a pause and then all you heard was Kent yelling "GOT IT". Wish they would go back to using that for video instead of the lame ones they do now. Noah121 1 Quote
REDZONEDAN Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 I love listening to KP and was excited when they brought him back to do the basketball games. Bugeaters1 1 Quote
Bugeaters1 Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 Before the age of every game on tv and the internet and FM radio, I had to listen to either KFAB or KRGI AM stations. while they would be fading in and out at key moment of the game. Kent had you on the edge of your seat just waiting on the Huskers to make a great play. His side kick back then was Gary Saddlemeier( hope I spelled that right) and Gary would always keep Kent in check. Then the time that the Huskers beat Mizzo in Columbia when they where #1Kent said he was ducking from the stuff being at him and the team. Jim Bains was one of the refs I can't remember the other/s. He has given us all great memories through the years. jaimes2000, hoop_head and Haymarket Husker 3 Quote
Red Don Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 I'm a newcomer (only since Miles was hired) but quickly picked up on the "GOT IT." It's really infectious! Pavelka does a great job of 'painting a picture' of what's happening on the court; TV announcers pale by comparison. I'd much rather listen to radio announcers than the TV, even if they're 15 sec or so ahead of the video (Hey, that way I know in advance if he 'Got It' or not ) Really like Matt Davison's commentary too ('Oh My Goodness; I just don't know What a foul is anymore'). They make a great duo! Bugeaters1 and Noah121 2 Quote

Huskerpapa Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 I want my basketball radio play-by-play announcer to be invested in the outcome...and Kent is invested. Both Kent and Matt mirror my emotions during a game. I am at every home game, but when the team is on the road, I will typically listen to Kent and Matt while watching the action on TV... Silverbacked1 Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 Kent is the kind of announcer that needs to be a home team announcer. He is vested in the outcome, he travels with these kids so he kind of gets to know them so I am sure lives and dies with each game even more than most of us. That is why I like, no want my home team announcer to love my team and be a very big homer. Good topic and welcome silent1. Bugeaters1 1 Quote
PimpMario Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 I love Kent too. I just wish there was a longer post game show. I would love for IMG (or even someone else ala 1620 with Big Red over-reaction) to have a post post game show that goes into a little more detail. Quote

I would love for IMG (or even someone else ala 1620 with Big Red over-reaction) to have a post post game show that goes into a little more detail. KNTK did an extended post game show this year, usually lasted about an hour or so after KFAB signed off. Quote
49r Posted March 13, 2015 Report Posted March 13, 2015 You'll never hear Kent utter the phrase "long horny frog" in a game broadcast. Kent Pavelka >> Brent Musberger Noah121, Red Don, unl and 3 others 6 Quote
jimmykc Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 I regret comparing you to Ted Baxter, Kent, but at least it wasn't Les Nessman. I do hope to hear you shout "Pitchfork" a few times next year when Walter finds his three point touch again. Quote
bball23 Posted March 14, 2015 Report Posted March 14, 2015 LOVE Kent and Matt. After every game (since I attend the games) I always go to huskers.com to watch the highlights from the game so I can listen to Ken and Matt make the calls of the great plays. Keep up the great work guys! Quote
