With a win on Sunday the Huskers get a double bye no matter what else happens now, right?

Think so. If Wisconsin loses at Purdue we are the 3 seed. If Wisconsin somehow wins we are the 4 seed. We need to take care of business.

Ok so if we win Sunday, we are likely the 3 seed, but not definite.

Humor me here. If we lose Sunday what’s the most realistic scenario? 4th or 5th?

There are currently 3 teams with 8 losses and 3 teams with 9 losses. Sooo could we fall to 6 ish in a crazy scenario?

Probably a 5 if we lose. But possible to drop to 6.

Essentially need Michigan State, Iowa, and Wisconsin to all lose if we lose to Michigan and still want to have a double bye.

To get the 4 with a loss we would need one of the following scenarios:

1) Illinois beats Iowa + Indiana beats MSU + Wisconsin loses one or both (vs Rutgers; @ Purdue)

2) Illinois beats Iowa + Wisconsin loses both

3) Indiana beats Minnesota (currently up at halftime) + Minnesota beats NW + Wisconsin loses both

Crazy as it sounds, the 3 seed is still possible if we lose. Add an Iowa loss to #3 above and that’s how we’d get it.

Ok so based on that, I almost say 4 is more likely than 5. Those are reasonable, or some might say probable, scenarios…

all of these new-fangled toys to play with when you're actually a threat to go to the NCAAs! Beats already scoping out next year's roster. Although I guess we're doing that, too....;)

What a fun year this has already been.

Let's keep this NU train rollin' down the tracks at a high rate of speed. Take it in our hands and smash Michigan to secure the 3-seed, then take care of business in the BTT to get as many dubs as possible. Then finish it up with that elusive victory in the Big Dance & dare to dream of Sweet Sixteens. LET'S DO THIS, BIG RED! GBR!!

Going into the postseason with a loss to Michigan would give me the same feeling I had in 2001 before going to the Rose Bowl after getting drubbed by Colorado. And I think we all recall what happened. So, let's quit worrying about our fate if we lose and just plan on winning. Right, Cip?

Feel a little slow for not realizing until now that we have an unweighted 47.8% chance at the double bye even with a loss on Sunday.

Yep.  Northwestern really helped us out by losing their last two games.  But they helped Iowa more so...

After that loss to Colorado, my regional boss at the time called me and gave me his condolences.  I told him the Huskers were still going to play in the national championship game.  He laughed saying there was no way.  There was.  I had no illusions of us keeping up with Miami, though.
