Nebraska (16-7) vs. Northwestern (15-7) Game Thread

Styx is an American rock band formed in Chicago, Illinois, in 1972. They are known for blending melodic hard rock guitar with acoustic guitar, synthesizers mixed with acoustic piano, upbeat tracks with power ballads, and incorporating elements of international musical theatre.

This is my favorite Stx song, Enjoy.

This is awesome. Before Panozzo started wearing tux's to shows by a couple of years.

Their music may have been a bit overwrought, but those harmonies were downright nasty.

In honor of the dancingest coach in the Big Ten, Chris Collins: "Canned heat in my heels tonight, baby!"

I will never not hear Jay Kay say he's got "candy in my heels tonight baby" when I hear that song.  😂

Currently both teams control their own destiny for making the tournament but this potentially could be an elimination game.

Yeah, I was thinking along a similar line.  It's certainly possible this could be an eliminator at the end of the season.  However, as of tomorrow, I view the winner of this game being firmly out of bubble conversation for the time being.  The loser would certainly still be in the field as of tomorrow night but would be featured prominently in the last four in/last four byes, etc.  The loser would still have work to do to continue to stay on the right side of the bubble and couldn't afford bad home losses for sure.  The winner likely has much more breathing room and could slip up once or twice before feeling the pressure of the bubble again.  Just my take on it.

I agree with this. I also think the style of win/loss will mean a lot. A close game and neither team is gonna hurt too much from the loss. If either team wins going away it could end up being bad news for the other team on selection Sunday.

We were talking a bit about fouls in another thread.  Northwestern, unlike Illinois, fouls a lot (almost to the point of overfouling).  Illinois doesn’t and we still managed to get to the line 14 times.  Would benefit us to love the rim tomorrow I think.

Also— we play pretty good D and don’t foul a ton according to that chart.

All these Chicago bands, and no one got to one of the newer ones (totally relativem I know) with a platinum album no less?

Fine, I'll toss in another one (philistines):

What the hell, Rockford is basically Chicago, too. It's as much Chicago as Evanston is.

The Kings of Rockford (not counting Wayne and Garth)

If anyone embeds "Crucial Taunt", I'm quitting.....;)

Possibly for Northwestern, but I don't think it is for either team.  Too many games left to be played.  If we win, we go 2-0 against them.  That should give us the tie-breaker even Barry Collier could recognize. If they win, okay, we've split depending on a potential  B1G Tourney game. That game could potentially be an elimination game.   But if we're playing NW in the conference tourney, we're probably both in.  Screw it.  Just beat the fake NU tomorrow and life is good!

Just curious, are we wearing retro road unis that have the NU logo on them?

It's amazing if you surf the internet long enough, what pearls you will find.  The Shadows of Knight were from the suburbs of Chicago.  I love this song.  Out of the 3 versions I know of, Them, (Van Morrison), The Doors and this version, The Shadows of Knight kicked ass!  Just like the Huskers tomorrow Knight!

you had to mention "Them"....I'm looking for a decent Them cover of Dylan's ".....Baby Blue..." It was a really unusual interpretation of that song and one of the reasons VM and BD became lifelong friends.

Edit: Btw, there's a "fake" version that was redone by a "fake" version of Them reconstituted without Van. Appears the boys found an "almost sound alike" in a competition a la Arnel for Journey.
